What happens when your old flame turns out to be a killer?Torn between leaving town and continuing to work for the Parker Agency, Miranda Steele is on a case with her sexy, ace investigator boss at a ritzy steeplechase, when she discovers the body of a beautiful young horse breeder, her face brutally crushed by the hooves of her favorite stallion. The incident appears to be a bizarre accident, until the dead woman's sister claims she was murdered by her ex-husband and begs Miranda to take the case.
When Miranda brings the subject up to Parker, he is strangely aloof, not at all like himself. As she looks into the incident on her own, Miranda begins to realize that Parker has a past he doesn't want her to unearth.
