Time to level up the party

Matt and his squires find each other after escaping from Conflict, but now they must journey deeper into the game zone to reach the first checkpoint.

Harassed by witches and disturbed to find several decapitated knights, the group still seeks out other players as the rules dictate. However, when they meet an injured general from a land of magic, Matt realizes everyone in the forest is in mortal danger.

Enchanted rivers creep through the woodlands, and magic seeps into the trees and soil from the unnatural liquid, but evil flows with it. Matt discovers this when he’s stricken by the song of a beautiful water Siren. His special brand of magic makes him a sucker for the femme fatale.

His only hope may be an abused Siren named Echo.

Matt begins to lead his party with determination and skill, and his understanding of magic levels up as well, but he isn’t sure what to make of the tired general. The chatty old man revels in stories of past glories, but his role in the ongoing battle for earth only becomes clear as they near the end of Matt’s first quest.

Is the dying general humanity’s savior? Or its killer?
