Widowed after only a year of marriage, Kate Marley had a problem getting her crops to market. But that wasn't her only problem. She couldn't mourn her husband who'd been attacked by a Cougar. He'd been so brutal on her wedding night that she refused to have relations with him. She realized after his death that there had been no love in her marriage. She'd married Jim out of loneliness.
