Ice is an agent and operative of a highly secret entity. Although the agency for which he works is unknown, it at times works in conjunction with other local and federal law enforcement agencies. At the same time they work out side of the law. Our country's criminal justice system works in most cases. However, there are many criminals who end up walking free because of a variety of reasons. These people who continue in their endeavors need to be stopped whatever the cost. Ice and his fellow agents are the people who take care this problem.In ICE COLD we learn of what Ice and his peers do. In following what he does we learn that there is someone who is threatening and wanting to kill him. When experimenting with a secret formula which works on a particular person, using DNA, his assignment gets blown when over a hundred people are killed. His job, with others, is to find out what went wrong and who may have caused the deaths. Ice meets a woman who is a psychologist who works as a counselor at the lab which made the chemical. Ice learns she has law enforcement experience and recruits her to be part of the agency. Because he recruited her, and she was accepted, Ice is assigned to mentor her for a year. They are assigned every type of corrective measures which usually leads to death. The book is graphically violent. But that is what Ice does which leads to mission success.
