Halloween Is Murder
by Carolyn Arnold
“Cozy mysteries are my new addiction. This is my first book by Carolyn Arnold and after completing it her other works were immediately added to my TBR list. Even though Halloween is Murder is part of the McKinley series, it can be read as a standalone.”
–2 Girls & A Book Beware of all that goes bump in the night…
Sean and Sara McKinley are excited about the haunted house they’ve set up as a Halloween charity fund-raiser, but things take a ghoulish turn when the reporter covering their story is found dead. With the media keeping mum about how she died, Sara’s curiosity is piqued, and she convinces Sean to take on the investigation through their PI firm. But this case is not without its challenges. The police are actively investigating it, as well, and it’s not even clear that the woman was murdered. It will take a little cloak-and-dagger, dress-up, and finesse for the McKinleys to get to the bottom of it, but they aren’t the kind to give up. As they troll for leads and work through the skeletons in the reporter’s closet, they unearth a few suspects, but they’ll need to carve out the whole truth if they’re going to find her killer. If they do so fast enough, there might even be time for a little trick-or-treating. **Review"You can never go wrong with a McKinley cozy mystery. Carolyn Arnold is an author whom, no matter what the plot, really makes you feel comfort and ease with her light (but detailed and delightful) writing style. These are the little mysteries that are enjoyed over again and a perfect addition to your cozy mystery collection."-Wifetime of Happiness "Some quirky characters and twists add to the fun. This is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. The pace is quick, typical of other McKinley Mysteries. And like the others, this one does not disappoint."-Christa Reads and Writes "The mystery itself was one that kept me flipping pages..."-Texas Book Nook "Now that I have read one book in one of what appears to be many series written by this author, she definitely has my attention, and I am very intrigued and interested in reading many more in the future!"-Bookstruck Books and Other Loves "I really enjoyed reading this story. It has the right amount of mystery and intrigue. I recommend reading it while enjoying a cup of hot cider."-Out There Reviews & Stuff "A fun cozy mystery. A clean, fun and light read."-Triple A Book Blog "I don't read many cozy mysteries, but this one was great! The writing was good, and the dialog natural. The story flowed well and the ending remained a surprise till the end. I really enjoyed the main characters."-Paranormal Tendencies "Arnold does a great job of writing and the book flowed really well, making it an easy and very entertaining read. There were many twists and turns that had me guessing till the end. There was also just enough humor in the book to keep it lighthearted. I look forward to more from this author in this series."-Melina's Book Blog "Anytime a book by Ms. Arnold crosses my path, a little voice inside me says, "WAHOO! Let the reading commence!" It was with this attitude I approached Halloween is Murder and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed! So, if you are a fan of Halloween, you can put a little more sizzle in your season by adding Halloween is Murder to your reading list. It is part of a series, yes, but you can enjoy it on its own as well."-Back Porchervations "This is a mystery that is a quick and easy read with a lot of guts at the same time. There are plenty of surprises woven throughout. I love the fact that Carolyn Arnold always manages to throw in plenty of wit and humor to make the story even more fun to read. I personally liked that there were so many likely suspects. It made it even more difficult to predict whodunit."-Momma and Her Stories "I liked the light-hearted and comedic addition to the novel... Get ready to be immersed in the world and captivated by the characters she has created."-On A Reading Bender "This was my first Halloween book to read (as an adult) and I loved it!!! Carolyn Arnold wrote a delightfully classic mystery! This is book 11 in her [McKinley Mystery] series but I was able to read it as a standalone, and I'm pretty sure I will be getting the first 10 books now!"-Novel & Mug
"Arnold creates scenarios that are not easy to unravel and keep you invested throughout the entirety of the novel. I don't want to be able to figure everything out too early in a novel, I want to be surprised."-A Life Through Books
