Read Kindling Storyline:

Kit Chavez hates birthdays and she assumes her 17th birthday will be no different - dressing up in some frou-frou gown, a formal party surrounded by strangers and distant relatives, and a boring dinner on fine china. But, her birthday turns interesting when she is attacked by four men. While she does fend them off, she is left bruised, bewildered, and scared. After the attack, Kit learns that she is a Van Helsing, descended from a long line of Vampyre Hunters who have worked centuries to eradicate the vampyre problem. Vampyre Hunting is in her blood. The men who attacked her weren't just strangers, they were vampyres, ancient beasts that hold a grudge with Hunters like herself. As long as Kit lives with her family, their safety is compromised and Kit's own life is in danger. Her only choice is to leave everything she has known to attend a training school for fighting vampyres. There, she spends most of her time running until she collapses, enduring brutal physical trials until she bleeds, eating terrible protein loafs, and, finally, learning how to hone her abilities to control flame. While she prepares her body to face vampyres, she also faces misogynist resistance, hatred, and, possibly, a revolution.Helping her get used to her new powers and teach her about the Hunter life is Heike Van Helsing, her biological father and son of Abram Van Helsing; Braith, a gorgeous and smart dhampir who is also often an annoying jerk that she can barely stand; Jean-Luc, the French werewolf who is always there to set Kit straight; and The Rabbi, who pushes Kit to do her best even at her weakest. To read more about The Hunter Trilogy, visit Abbey on her website at http://www.abbeycbooks.com/ or visit The Hunter Trilogy Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheHunterTrilogy
