Dead on Arrival __________________________________________________________________ It began with Dr. Mark Baker facing a gunman who had nothing to lose. It could end with him behind bars. In the Emergency Room, Dr. Mark Baker and Nurse Linda Atkinson stand at the mercy of a gunman who declares, “If he dies, everyone here dies.” Mark’s quick thinking saves their lives, but at the end of the evening three men lie dead. One of them is a police officer Mark couldn’t save. The other two are members of the feared Zeta drug cartel, immediately putting at risk the lives of Mark, Linda, and others. It isn’t long before the shootings begin—the anesthesiologist for the operation is killed, and a surgeon lies in a coma with a bullet in her brain. Mark finds that he and Linda are high on the list of suspected shooters. Linda hopes Mark will soon see the love she has for him, but he seems oblivious, instead turning to his high school sweetheart, now an attorney, for help. While the police wait for the surgeon to awaken and name the person who shot her, Mark realizes that the best way to clear his name is to find the real shooter. It could be a Zeta seeking revenge. It might be someone administering payback for the policeman whose life Mark couldn’t save. It might even be the person behind the hospital administrator’s campaign to get Mark out of the Emergency Room forever. Whoever it is, can Mark find them…before they get him?
