The young vampire noticed something off. In the crowd of people behind the yellow tape at the scene, there was this odd looking man. He had gray long hair and wore what seemed to be a white old suit. He was overlooking the whole thing with a dead stare. Deacon didn’t know why but he looked off. His eyes too, they looked like they glowled, not like a vampire or an werewolf, but this red yellowish glare. He stood out in the pure daylight so he couldn’t be a vampire. But something about him rubbed Deacon the wrong way.
“What a creep!” Deacon said. “In other news, police at looking into the reposts of a deranged serial killer living out in the rural areas by St. Peters. This came up when a group of teenagers claimed that they were attacked by this so-called serial killer and that he was known as the Burnt Father. This old myth that many didn’t believe. But that wasn’t the only mysterious thing they saw. They claim that a monstrous wolf saved them if you can believe that!”
Then he heard footsteps down the hall. Deacon turned off the TV and laid in bed. He thought that it was his brother again but his vampire ears could hear as clear as day that it was his father. Ishmael was talking on the phone while head towards Deacon's room.
“I’m aware of the situation chief and it will be handled soon! Just try to keep your officers from getting in our way. This is going to get messy!”
“Just make sure this shit ends! If not, the people of St. Charles will be the ones paying for it, in blood. I won't’ have that!”
“Neither will I chief. I’ll keep you posted but it’s best to keep your men on a wild goose chase till then.” “You got it Ishmael. You know, when I got this job, I didn’t think I’d be working with a vampire!” The Chief of Police said.
“Neither did the last guy who had you job! Good day chief!” Ishmael rubbed his face as he entered the room. Deacon was surprised to see him He figured Ishmael would be buys the entire day.
“Dad!”
“Hey Deacon! Did you get a good day sleep! Man I wish I could right now!” Ishmael said.
“What are you doing here? I thought you’d be busy with Uthyxeth and the Legion?” Deacon said. “Yeah! It’s pretty heckite right now but I wasn't to check in on you. We haven't had the time to Be..well I haven't honestly been around for you. Sorry about that!” Ishmael said sitting on Deacon’s bed.
“It’s fine dad! You’ve been busy! You’re running an army and a city plus the cultist aren’t making things easy for us!” Deacon said.
“Yeah but that’ been just an excuse! I just get lost with the time and bour brother. I just wanted to see how you're doing! Ishmael said. “So what was it like to fight your first magic user?”
“Like crap! Those guys cheat with their stupide spells and throwing crap at you. It’s cheating!” Deacon said. They both laughed.
“Oh yeah they do! God I hate magic! There’s no honor in it and it's got no real skill! But don’t tell you mom that. She and her mother are or is….”
“Black mages! Yeah! I heard you tired a spell out on you once.” “Yeah! Volley of rats she called it. I still hear those furry bastards in the lounge everytime I walk in there.” Ishmael said smiling. “My first magic user was a warlock down in Texas. The bastard was good at wind storms and moving the dirt. Ever had dirt and sand forced down your throat? But the warlock didn’t know I was go at digging through the soft ground. I came up behiund him and sancked his neck like a tree limb!”
“Cool!” Deacon said.
“You did good at there Deacon. Especially with those undead freaks.” Thanks dad!”
“I also heard you had an encounter with a werewolf?” “Yeah?”
Just be careful. Werewolves and vampires do mix. To them, we’re just corpses they’d rip to pieces if given the chance. Their besat who don't’ forgive and don’t forget!”
“Not all of them are like that! Some have to be good!” “True but they have long memories of what we did over the centuries. I suppose we deserve it. But some wolves don't’ let go easy. Especially Shane and Vesper Crimson. If it wasn’t for the trunce, they're probably come storming towards this city with an army of this wolves. But in the end, wolves and vamps don’t mex is the real problem!” Ishmael said.
“You never know dad!” Deacon said. Ishmael sensed that Deacon was holding something back. He was hiding something. But he didn’t press further.
“Maybe! Well, I should probably get back to Uthyxeth and Desmond. It’s going to be a long night.” Ishmael hugged Deacon. “I’m going to try and be around for your Deacon. I just want you to know I love you son. I don’t think or love you any less! Ok?”
“I know dad! I love you too!” Deacon replied. His father went over to the door.
“Be careful if you go out tonight Deaon. Be armed always ok?” Dacon nodded to his dad. Ishmael left down the hall. Just miles past St. Peters in Wolf’s Hollow, Weldon was walking around the village waiting for Deacon at call. He thought about going on a hunt but he was afraid he’d miss the call. He passed by where his parents were talking the other wolves in the pack. It looked more like a beer party but that’s just how werewolves did business. There was a massive barrel of moonshine in the back of the room. Shane and Vesper were in front of the wolves addressing the group.
“We got word of cultist in the St. Charles and between areas of St. Peters. From what we heard they got some serious numbers and they are the ones behind the grave robbings.”
“So? What does that have to do with us?” “Because St. Peters is are our territory and it’s only a matter of time before they decide to cross into ours! That’s what it has to do with us!” Shane said.
“Supposedly some damn necromancer was involved? Which means those dead bodies are now dolling assholes hunger for flesh!” Vesper remarked.
“Just what we need! Well I’m going to be busy!” The Receiver commented. “To make matters worse, the Nightworth bastards are going to be crawling around the city looking for them!” Larry told them.
“So what are you suggesting sir?” One of the wolves said. “I’m not just going to sit around and let those vamps have all the glory! We're going after them too!” Old man Sanders said. “Now let's have a pan first! I don't like the vamps either but I rather no get into a psiiing match with the guysb we spetn years trying to reason with.” Shane said. “We go in quickly and far from those bloodsukcers. How many wolves can we spare right now?”
“Whatever number you need Shane you got! We’ll send in 500 if you need too.” Larry said.
“That won’t be necessary! 300 will do! I’ll leave it to you Larry to lead them. Me and Vesper will watch from a distance.” “Yes sir!” Larry said.
“I still think that this is a waste of time! Just let the damn vamps and the cultist kill each other!” Jared said.
“It’s not a waste of time. These guys mean business!” Weldon said. He went through the window and entered the room. “What are you talking about Weldon?” Shane said. “I was there last night! These guys are insane and whatever they have plan. It’s bad for both vamps and werewolves.” Weldon told them. “I was the one who took down the necromancer!” The group with Shane and Vesper looked at each other.
Well this is a twist!” Shane replied. “I suppose you ran into out Nightworth friends too?” Weldon refrained from telling the whole truth. Deacon was his secret and Weldon was his protector in a way.
“Just this knight looking guy named Uthyxeth! Serious type, not the chatty guy!” Weldon said. “Then it’s settled then! We go tonight!” Shane said. He walked over to Weldon and patted him on his back. “Well done!” Weldon dodged a bullet.
He doubt either his parents would like to hear he was on a date with a vamp. Weldon went up top his room and flopped on the bed. He waited for that phone call. Weldon looked out and saw his father addressing the other wolves in the village.
“Hounds! We’re going on a hunt!” Sahne shouted to them. Nearly all the wolves shouted in excitement. When there was a mass hunt, things got messy.
Deacon got dres
sed in new clothes. He looked at himself in the mirror, still couldn't believe he was seeing a werewolf or whatever their relationship was at that point. He then remember the number Weldon gave him. He crawled over to his phone and called the number. He first made sure that no one was around the halls. He was nerves that the number wasn’t real and Weldon was messing with him. But then he remembered that couldn’t be true. If a guy fights zombies and a necromancer with out then he’s probably not messing with you. The rings continued for what seems to be an eternity. Then he heard a voice at the other end.
“Hey Deac! Did you make it home safe?” Deacon knew the voice. It was him.
“You knew it was me!”
“Of course! I’ve been waiting for a while! I guessed you were sleeping or whatever you vamps do during the day.” “Sorry I passed out! How are you?” “Ok I guess! Everyone including my folks asking me a million questions about what I was doing last night and who I was with. I left out the part where you're a vampire prince!”
“That’s good! I was thinking that maybe we should go out about but somewhere far from the crap in St. Charles and maybe have some fun. Plus, I’d like to try and finish what we didn’t do before the devourer crap!”
“You mean me grabbing that butt of yours and kissing you! I’d love to do that!” Weldon said. “Unless you want to have phone sex right now!”
“Grow up! But yeah! I want to kiss you! Honestly, I haven’t stopped thinking about you since I got back here!” “You too Deac!”
“It’s weird that I was scared that you’d wouldn’t pick up and talk to me! I guess I jsut have issues huh?”
“It’s ok Deac! I would never hurt you, ever! I know I just meet you but I just wanted….wanted you to know that.” “Oh! Thank you!” “I was thinking that we could go to six flags the evening. It’s getting really cloudy and dark around that time so you should be able to come out. Can you guys move in dark cloudy weather?”
“Yeah if it’s dark enough we can! I would love to go! You don’t have to worry about paying! I’ll pay your way.” “No way! I’m not some princess that needs help. I’ll pay your way!”
“NO! Ok! How about we pay each other’s way to make it far!” Deacon said.
“Ok! Sounds good! Tell you what, How about I pick you up by the overpass and give you a ride up there!” Weldon said. “I can drive you know!” Deacon said.
“Yeah but not with me you haven't!” Weldon told him. “I’ll see you there around 6:00 p.m. my prince!” Weldon said. “Oh god! Ok! See you Weldon!” “See you to Deac!” Deacon hung up the phone. Meanwhile with Weldon, he didn’t realize that Luther was listen to their phone conversation. Luther was dumbfounded by what he heard. Weldon got off his bed where he saw Luther smiling devilishly.
“You’re dating a vampire. Not only a vampire but the prince of the NIghtworth Legion! Holy shit!” Luther said. The werewolf was laughing at Weldon.
“SHUT THE HELL UP! Don’t say that out loud! OK!” Weldon said.
“Ok, Ok! I can’t believe it! I knew something was up with that guy!” Luther said. “Did you guys do….you know?” “No! Not yet!”
“Not yet! Some you are going to do it with him!” Luther said.
“Well…..I’m not sure….yes! I am but when he wants to ok! I’m not going to force him!” “What a gentleman!” Luther said.
“Look! Don’t tell anyone about this ok!” Weldon said. “I won’t but dude! Why a vampire? I don’t understand!”
“He’s different! He’s cool, and fun, and honorable and strong and just great to be around you know! He’s like me and I just feel comfortable around him and I just can be myself. I think I like him!”
“You gotta be kidding me!” Luther said. “Ok! I’m going out with Larry and the other wolves tonight! You coming with dude?”
“Sorry! I have other plans! Yo have fun without me!” Weldon said going tino the shower. “I have a date!” Weldon got dressed and went to his bike. While the bike dorve off, Shane watched him leave.
“Where is Weldon heading off to? I thought he’d join in with us?” Shane said to Vesper. “I don't know! If you wanted him to come along then why didn’t you let him lead the hunting party! He’s old enough and experience enough to do so!” Vesper said.
“I know! He’s a damn good wolf and fine hunter but it’s best he’s not involved. He’s the future of our pack and my successor. Look, I don’t know but something bad is coming and I can feel it. I am sure you can too! He needs to say out of this!” Shane told his wife. He went over hand kissed her on the head.
“Better us older wolves go first. Larry don’t have no qualms about jumping into danger!” Shane said.
“I do it for free!” Larry said. There was a large group gathering outside of the house, Luther was included. They were all still in their human form. Larry got in front of them waiting for the order to go! The Receiver was out on the roof of the hunting launge getting a tan in a red bikini.
“This is going to be good!” It was 4:58 p.m. But a surge of severe thunderstorms had rolled in with clouds as black as as night. The sun was completely gone and by the sound of the forcast, it was going to be for the rest of the day. Vampires loved this kind of weather because it allowed them to venture out during the day. The worst they would get ws some sun burnt skin and UV sickness.
Deacon came driving into the St. Charles city with his red jeep and parked next to this hotel. The place was very dark and dreary out but he liked cloudy days, typically the nasty green ones. He was wearing a tan long sleeve shirt with his sword on this back for protection. He went over to the overpass and waited. It didn’t take him long to hear the sounds of a motorcycle. Then came Weldon with a brown leather jacket and mirror sunglasses riding on a large black motorcycle. He stopped right next to Deacon with a grin on this face.
“Hey handsome! Need a lift!” Weldon smiled. Deacon smiled at the sight of him. He was even more happy to see him now than before. Deacon got on the back and wrapped his arms around the werewolf's chest.
“Hello Weldon!” Deacon said. The vampire held on to Weldon close. He rubbed his face into the back of Weldon’s ahir, smelling how clean and fresh he was from the shower he just had. Deacon was comfortable holding the werewolf. Weldon himself enjoyed it too. Deacon holding his chest gave him goosebumps but in a good way. He liked how Deafocn was holding him, trusting him to ride with.
“You feel nice. Smell nice too!” Deacon said. “Thanks! Don't worry, I got you!” Weldon said. For some reason, Deacon knew that too.
“You look incredible Deac!” Weldon said. “You're no slouch yourself!” Deacon said. “We should get going soon. My parents are sending the Obsidian knights to turn this city side out! They’re going to exterminate the cultist!”
“So our my parents! They think it’s a glorious hunt or something! I guess it is!” Weldon said.
“You didn’t want to go with them?” Deacon asked Weldon.
“Nope! I got what I want right here! You Deac!” Weldon said holding his hand. “Me too Weldon! They can make it without me!” Deacon replield. Then the two speed off on the motorcycle down the interstate together. Deacon held the guy the whole way while Weldon smiled. It was the best ride down the interstate for he them both ever. But as they rode, someone was stalking them from a distance.
The motorcycle went off the interstate and pulled into the massive parking lot of Six Flags. It wasn’t as busy as they thought it would be. It was still dark and cloudy outside but also close to sunset. Weldon parked halfway in the middle. The park was still open with rides going up and down but it seemed slow right now.
“Not a long or people. Must be the weather!” Deacon said. “Good! We can get on the rides quicker!” Weldon said. He saw the claymore on Deacon’s back and made him couris. “So how are you able to keep that in public without people noticing? You'd think the police would find a guy carrying a claymore on his back suspicious.” Weldon said.
“It has a spell or rune embedded in the sword to w
here normal human’s can’t see it. Only the supernatural can see it!” Deacon said. ”With it, I can carry it anywhere I need to!”
“Does it work on living things? My buddy Luther would go crazy over something like that!” Deacon shook his head. “Only objects. Don’t work on living beings. Most Obsidian knights have swords with and with special runes and powers.”
“Cool!” Weldon commented. The two started to walk up to the ticket booth. There was a kid there that probably the same the two. The kid gave them two tickets after paying.
“The rain is making the crowds a bit dead today some you guys shouldn't have to wait one on the rides!” The kid said. The two boys went on through. Weldon held out his hand to Deacon. Deacon grabbed it and held it. The to walked off into thepar. That’s when all the lights started to come on. It was quite a sight.
“So what do you want to do first1” Weldon asked Deacon. Deacon and Weldon took off into the park for some fun. First they tried the Mr. Freeze ride. Weldon vomited after going one ride on it. Then they tried the slingshot. That one was deacon’s favorite. When they went up, you could see the whole are around there. It was incredible even if it was dark and cloudy. The Second time they went Deacon held on ton Welon. Then they tried the shooting arcade ride Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. Weldon had one a score of 34,000. He wasn’t the best at those type of games.
“What I never use guns ever. I’m a werewolf for crap sake!” Weldon told Deacon. Then he saw Deacon’s score of 130,000.
“Very nice!” Weldon said. Then the two went on the skyscarter, which after a few rides, it was Deacon who threw up. Then they found a carnevil game with different prizes. They had to hit the different targets to when something, the further target you hit, the biggert the prize.
“Which one do you want Deac!” Weldon asked Deacon. He looked Deacon looked around at al the stuff dolls and stuff. “The scooby doo one! I liked that one as a kid!” Weldon grabbed a ball and got ready to throw. “Good luck with that one! You have to hit the farthest target to get…” The shopkeeper said before Weldon smashed through the target like nothing. The ball even smashed out of the other end of the game stand.
