Romeo: A Payne Brothers Romance

His fingers so dazzled me I thought I didn’t hear him right. “Geese?”
He nodded. “Gretchen moved the flock of geese from the center of town to our property to avoid any sort of impropriety.”
“How many geese do you have now?”
His fingers stilled, and he winced. “Enough.”
“What about Cassi’s wedding?”
“The geese shouldn’t be a problem. It’s the ceremonial cannon salute the reunited re-enactors want to offer that worries everyone.”
“A wedding to remember.”
“No, that would be V and Glory’s…” Quint smirked. “Was supposed to be just family—the entire town showed up. Nearly tore the brand-new church down when Glory announced she was pregnant.”
“They were upset?”
“No. They were thrilled.”
“That’s reassuring.” I glanced down at my tummy. “Hopefully the town feels the same way about our baby.”
“If they’re anywhere near as excited as my family, the kid’s got nothing to worry about.”
“They’re okay with it?”
“They’re happy that I’m happy.”
I gently kissed him. “So am I.”
“You made me this way.” Quint faked a frown. “Can’t sleep. Can’t eat. Can’t stop thinking about you. This happy thing is a curse.”
“Don’t worry,” I said. “I’ll help you through it. And I promise, from here on out, I’ll stay right here.”
“Naked in a pond?” He shrugged. “A little unconventional, but I like a bit of unpredictability.”
“I’m starting to like it too…as long as you’re at my side.”
“Do I get to stay naked?”
“You never want to get dressed.”
“Why would I? I have a beautiful, sex-starved woman in my arms who has gone two weeks without being completely and thoroughly ravished.”
“I’m not sex-starved…” I squirmed against him, my breath trembling as his fingers worked a little faster within my petals. “I just…don’t like being away from you.”
“What about all those better guys in Paris?” he asked. “Did you find someone you liked more than me?”
His hands guided me to where I belonged. With a slow, determined push, I took him inside me. My legs curled tight around him, and I clung to him as my body, soul, and heart filled with everything Quint Payne.
“You’re the only man I’ve ever wanted.” I trembled as his touch, the lapping water, and the fullness of him enveloped me in a wave of quick and furious desire. “You’re one-of-a-kind…fortunately for me.”
“You have no idea how much I love you.”
I had nine inches of good idea.
And I welcomed every thrust deeper. My heart raced. Core trembled. For the first time, I finally allowed myself to surrender to the absolute peace that was offering my love to this perfect man.
His growled promise nearly melted me alive. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
I teased him with a giggle. “And I’m going to savor this moment right now.”
His pace quickened, and I held tight to the man of my dreams as he promised just how perfect forever could be.
No easier way to say I love you than to offer my heart.
Because it had always been his.
