The Fae said nothing, just sat in silence. Bell wasn’t fazed by Sidero’s cold glowers anymore – she had saved her too many times. Reaching out, Bell grabbed Sidero’s hand and held it tight, refusing to let her pull away. She knew if Sidero really wanted to be released, it would take nothing more than a bat of an eyelash, but after an initial tug, she allowed Bell to hold her hand. It felt like Bell was gripping a hand-shaped ice cube.
“Whatever you believe, Sidero, you are still much more human than you think, much more human than Fae. If, at some point during my lifetime, you need a friend, you can always call on me.” She released Sidero.
Sidero stared at her in shock for several long moments before snorting and standing up abruptly. “You don’t know what you’re talking about, girl. I’ll take my leave.”
Bell watched her depart, not rising from her seat. “Perhaps…” she whispered, her quiet word following Sidero out.
