Even now, remembering, he felt his heart beat faster.
They’d seen each as often as they could since then. Every moment that Raul could get away from Superior. It rarely went the other way around. Gavin’s father saw no reason to go that far south when they could get most everything they needed from their own area. It was rare that they made the trip in to Duluth for items they couldn’t find in the stores up near Rollins, though Rollins itself was just a few houses scattered along Highway 44 through the forest between Pine Creek and the Cloquet River.
He would talk to Raul, Gavin decided. Tell him to go ahead with the suit. The idea made him nervous. There was a lot of damage it could do; it could put an end to any chance he had of a relationship with Raul. But they couldn’t keep going on like this, behind his father’s back, furtive and afraid of being caught. Karl Bodulf wasn’t the only Alpha in the area who would take exception to a relationship going in on in secret. There was just too much chance of impropriety. And for a powerful Alpha like Raul to have not made suit yet for an omega with Gavin’s connections, well, that had implications that could be very bad for both of them.
“You doing alright there?”
Gavin looked up to find his father looking back at him. He hadn’t realized he had been quiet for so long. Pulling a smile onto his face, he took another bite of food.
“Oh, you know,” he said when he’d swallowed. “Just woolgathering.”
His father didn’t ask what about. Gavin hadn’t expected him to. They went back to eating in silence.
Chapter Two
It was a week before Gavin had an opportunity to see Raul.
He’d known it would likely be that long. Or longer. An Alpha, especially the Alpha of a pack as big as Raul’s, had responsibilities. They both had ties to the places they resided, and they couldn’t always escape them. He spent the evening after his decision staring at his phone, waiting for an answer to the text he’d sent Raul, wondering if he’d made the right choice. The text itself he’d already deleted. He didn’t even keep Raul’s number saved in his phone, in case his father took it upon himself to check his messages.
Gavin hadn’t told Raul that he wanted him to make his suit formal, had only said he wanted to see him, but bringing Raul all the way out here for nothing would be foolish. Not that seeing him was nothing. But there’d been some urgency in the text, and if Raul was pushing deadlines to meet him, it needed to be for good reason.
----
They met in the woods a few miles away from the main cluster of houses. Gavin got there first, as he often did, and sat under one of the trees with a book, waiting until Raul arrived. When he did, it was silent.
The first warning Gavin had was the hands that wrapped themselves over his eyes. He didn’t jump. That was what Raul wanted him to do.
“You are a child,” he said, trying for biting and really not reaching it. His tone was fond, and he couldn’t help the smile that curved up the corners of his mouth.
Raul’s hands dropped from his eyes. “I’ll admit,” he said, “That I’d hoped to startle you.”
He dropped down to sit on the forest floor beside Gavin, their shoulders brushing companionably.
“I’ve been around you enough to know all your tricks,” Gavin answered, turning enough to flash a grin at the dark-haired Alpha.
Raul reached out and took one of his hands, twining their fingers together. Against the warm olive-gold of his skin, Gavin’s pale, freckled hand looked almost luminously white.
“I missed you,” Raul said, and dipped his head to breath in Gavin’s scent from the curve of his throat.
Gavin shivered a little with the pleasant sensation. “I missed you too.”
He didn’t share his news. Not yet. There would be tine for that. Right now, he simply wanted to enjoy Raul’s company. They had a few hours together, and he intended on spending them well.
Raul’s lips brushed, soft and warm, against his skin. Gavin’s fingers curled a little tighter around the ones that were linked with them. He left his breath out on a careful sigh. Raul kissed his throat again, nipped gently at the curve of it. Then he pulled back enough to meet Gavin’s eyes.
“How long?”
“My father will be home late tonight. Six. Maybe seven. But I need to be back in time to shower.”
Raul nodded, though Gavin could see the disappointment at the edges of his expression. He didn’t let it show outright on his face; he never did. Gavin was more certain he was doing the right thing by allowing Raul to make the suit formal. Hiding was just going to drive both of them mad. And if his father turned it down, he would find a way to talk him into changing him mind. There had to be something he could do to convince his father that Raul was a suitable Alpha. Even for an omega from a traditional pack.
“We have a lot to fit into a short while, then” Raul said.
Gavin pulled himself from his thoughts and smiled at the Alpha. “We do.”
That was obviously a signal that Gavin was as interested in Raul in what came after, because an arm slid around his waist and pulled him right into the Alpha’s lap. Gavin, laughing, wasn’t particularly upset about the change. He released Raul’s hand to wrap his arms around the Alpha’s neck and leaned into his chest. Warm hands settled on his hips.
“I missed you,” Raul said, though he’d already said it, this time with his nose skimming along Gavin’s collarbone through his shirt. “Missed you quite a lot, in fact.”
Gavin let his head tip back a little to give the Alpha more space, his fingers sliding up to tangle gently in the curls at the nape of Raul’s neck. He smiled.
“You should show me how much you missed me,” he suggested, voice dropping a little lower, coming out breathy.
“Oh I should, should I?” Raul smiled against his skin, even as he nipped sharply at it in playful reproof. “I think you’re greedy, beautiful omega.”
“Might be,” Gavin agreed readily. “Or maybe I just want you.”
That won him a kiss, deep and hungry and claiming, and Gavin pressed close against the Alpha’s chest, arms tightening around him. He loved the way Raul kissed, like there was nothing better he could think of doing. Like all the mattered was the moment and Gavin wrapped up in his embrace. Raul kissed him like he meant something, and that meant something to him.
“In that case,” Raul said when the kiss broke. “Maybe you should show me how much you want me.”
“Does that make you, greedy, then?”
Raul laughed. “No. That makes me the Alpha.”
Gavin gave him a look that said quite clearly that he was onto him, but he gave in to the suggestion with a soft laugh.
Sliding from his Alpha’s lap, Gavin sank easily to his knees in the soft leaf litter. Raul stood, and Gavin reached up to open the button on his Alpha’s jeans. He heard Raul’s intake of breath and smiled. Let his tongue slip out to wet his lower lip. His eyes lifted to his Alpha’s face as he pulled the zipper down, and he smiled at the expression there, at the hungry dark eyes.
His hands skimmed Raul’s jeans down his hips to his mid-thigh, out of the way. The Alpha was already getting hard in his briefs, and the outline of him was obvious. Gavin reached up and slid the palm of his hand along the hard curve, pressing down just enough to make Raul hiss softly and rock into the touch. He loved watching the alpha come apart under his hand. His fingers. Loved knowing that he pleased him this way. They couldn’t have what they really wanted, but they could make the most of what they were given.
Gavin rubbed Raul too gently through his underwear until a hand reached down and caught his wrist, just hard enough to leave a little ache behind.
“Stop teasing,” Raul ordered, and the words were a growl, all Alpha. They shuddered down Gavin’s spine.
“Yes, Alpha,” Gavin answered, lowering his eyes demurely and hiding his smile when he heard Raul’s head thunk quietly back against the trunk of the tree behind him, a groan catching in the Alpha’s throat.
They both
loved this game, playing at the roles they had been born into though outside of sex they often blurred the lines of tradition. Here, where they were both hard and wanting, it was good. Instinct, maybe, but Gavin wasn’t going to argue with it, not when he had an Alpha like Raul, who knew the difference between love play and his status as a person.
Not that Raul was his Alpha yet, and that was the problem, wasn’t it?
Gavin pulled down the tight-fitting boxer-briefs and wrapped his hand around hot, naked flesh. Raul moaned, and Gavin let his breath out on a sigh. He licked his lips again, this time unconsciously. The Alpha was beautiful all over.
Lifting his eyes to his Alpha’s face once more, Raul leaned in and pressed his lips to the head of Raul’s cock, slow and reverent. Raul’s fingers tangled in his hair, tight enough to pull. He dragged Gavin forward until he had no choice but to open his mouth wide and let his Alpha’s cock slide between his lips, heavy against his tongue.
Gavin let his eyes fall shut then, tipping his head back a little to give Raul a better angle, moaning as his mouth was filled completely. He liked Raul best when he was too worked up to take it slow, when he just demanded what he wanted. They weren’t quite to that point yet. Gavin lifted both of his hands to curl around his Alpha’s thighs for something to hold onto. Raul pulled him back and then forward again, a little faster, filling him a little deeper. Raul’s cock hit the back of his throat, and Gavin let it slide deep, breathing in through his nose.
“Fuck,” Raul said above him. “Gavin...”
Gavin moaned around him and was rewarded with a shudder and a gasp. Raul’s fingers tightened in his hair. Gavin squeezed gently, a signal they both knew.
Raul’s hands in his hair pulled him back, and this time when he dragged him down again he didn’t seem to be giving any thought to whether Gavin could take it, only to what he wanted, and what he wanted was Gavin’s mouth, Gavin’s throat wrapped around him. Gavin groaned around his mouthful, his fingers curling in the denim of his Alpha’s jeans.
“Beautiful,” Raul was saying. “Perfect. My omega.”
The praise lit him from the inside, settled warm and glowing behind his ribs. It was something he got every little of elsewhere. He hadn’t known until Raul how much he liked to be told that he was good, though it hadn’t surprised him. Most omegas did. He just hadn’t known how amazing it could feel.
Raul was still fucking his mouth, still filling him up, and Gavin was moaning, his eyes closed. The only thing holding him up with his Alpha. He wanted to sink against him, let all his bones go soft the way they wanted to and just melt into the warmth of the strong body. He wanted more than this. A bed. A house of their own. Someplace they could do whatever they wanted without worrying that if they were found it would be dangerous for them both.
And he shouldn’t be thinking about that, Gavin was reminded as he was pulled down for a particularly deep thrust, his lips wrapped around the base of his Alpha’s cock.
He should be thinking about Raul. About how much he wanted to please him, and how good it felt to have Raul’s cock in his mouth. Gavin pressed his thighs a little closer together, rocking against the not-enough stimulation of his own heel.
Another thrust, and the hands in his hair were tightening again. His Alpha’s knot was growing, bumping against his lips. Gavin reached up and curled his fingers around it, rippling them over the sensitive swelling and listening to Raul curse. If he had been able to smile, his expression would have been just a little bit smug.
Raul’s hips hitched, and Gavin tightened his grip. Just enough to make it perfect. He knew exactly what his Alpha liked after this long. Raul cried out, and he was glad they had this patch of forest to themselves. His Alpha’s come spilled over the back of his tongue, down his throat, and Gavin slowly drew back as the grip on his hair weakened, letting it spill out over his lips, down his arched neck. God, he wished he didn’t have to go home and wash the scent off. He wanted to smell like Raul. Like he was owned.
“Alpha,” he breathed. “Please.”
Raul was leaning back against the tree like his knees could barely hold him up, his hands still in Gavin’s hair but only loosely. Gavin kept up the gentle pressure of his hold, kept his fingers rippling, moving as the last warm stripes of come streaked his chest. Raul let his knees buckle, sliding down the trunk of the tree until they were face to face. Gavin licked the taste of Alpha and pleasure from his lips, and leaned in for the kiss Raul claimed. Big hands settled on both cheeks, holding him close. His Alpha’s mouth opened his own, tongue claiming every corner.
When he pulled back, he offered his hand to Gavin, who licked the mess of his come one by one from his fingers. The other hand had slipped down between them, and the palm of it pressed against Gavin through his jeans, making his hips buck and his breath catch.
“Please,” he gasped, pressing kisses to his Alpha’s palm. “Please.”
Both of Raul’s hands were fumbling with his jeans then, and Gavin lifted up high on his knees, sank back onto one hand so that he could get his legs out from under him, and let Raul take his pants off.
“Yes,” Raul was saying, panting a little still. “Good boy. So perfect, omega. “
His pants were off then, and his underwear followed quickly. Raul curled a hand around his thigh and yanked his legs open, and Gavin fell onto his elbows with a moan, head tipping back. Raul leaned in like he couldn’t resist the arch of Gavin’s neck and licked up the curve.
“Please.” He hadn’t meant to say the word, but he knew Raul liked to hear it. “Fuck.”
Chapter Three
“What do you want, baby?” Raul nipped at the curve of his jaw. “You want my fingers?”
Gavin nodded a little too quickly. ‘Yes, Alpha. Please.”
Another kiss, this time pressed to the hollow at the base of his throat, and Raul’s hand slid between Gavin’s thighs. He gasped as they slid along the valley between his buttocks, collecting slick.
“So wet for me already, boy,” Raul growled against his shoulder. “Exactly what I want. So hot, omega. “
Gavin arched into the touch, and his own fingers curled against the dirt when Raul slid one inside him. It pulled back, and then there were two, stretching him, sliding in easy on the slick evidence of his need.
“Yes, Alpha. Yes. Please.”
Both fingers stroked over the place inside him that made pleasure spark along his nerves, and Raul chuckled low and pleased when Gavin’s back arched. His toes curled inside his shoes. Another slow, teasing stroke. Raul’s fingers curled upward, pressed hard, and then rubbed slow circles that made Gavin gasp for air between stuttering moans. Fuck. It was almost too much and Raul knew it, knew just how to take Gavin to pieces after all these months.
“How’s that feel, baby?”
“Good,” Gavin answered, breathless. “Really good, Alpha. Fuck. God.”
“Going to come for me? Spill all over yourself for me?”
“Yes. Yes. Alpha.”
Three fingers then, still stroking, circling, pausing to tap against that sensitive place and made him whimper. Gavin clutched at nothing, nails gathering dirt beneath them from the motion of his desperate hands. It was good. It was perfect. Another stroke, Raul leaning down and nipping at his shoulder, his collarbone. Sharp teeth tugged at his nipple, and Gavin cried out softly.
“That’s it. Scream for me, baby. Let me hear you.”
Another firm stroke over his prostate, and Gavin let the noise that wanted to escape come out un-muffled. His hips rocked against his Alpha’s fingers, pleading the same way his mouth was. His eyes opened, and he stared up at the canopy of leaves.
“Come on, omega. Make a mess of yourself for me.” His voice dropped to a growl. “Come for your Alpha.”
That was all it took. Gavin came with a sob, legs trembling and arms sliding out from under him. He lay against the cool leaves on the forest floor and tried to remember how to breathe properly while Raul’s fingers slowed and gentled their strokin
g, taking him slowly down.
“God,” he breathed when he knew how to make words again. “Alpha...”
Raul gathered him up and pulled him in close, and Gavin laid his head against the Alpha’s shoulder with a sigh. A warm hand stroked up and down his back under his shirt. It occurred to him that he probably looked ridiculous still wearing it, naked from the waist down, but Raul hadn’t seemed to mind. Gavin turned his head and brushed his lips against his Alpha’s neck.
“Feel okay?”
“Me?” Gavin laughed. “I feel amazing. Don’t know if I’ll ever be able to walk again, but I feel great.”
He was answered with a chuckle, and Raul’s fingers sliding through his hair. For a long moment they sat like that, breathing in the quiet of the forest. The air smelled of pine and of warm earth, and over that he could smell Raul - citrus and something spicy. Clove, maybe. He’d never quite been able to figure it out. Raul had told him once that he smelled of cream and strawberries.
“Raul,” Gavin said when their breathing had evened out and the beat of his heart had slowed. “There’s something I wanted to talk to you about.”
There must have been a note in his voice that gave him away, because he felt Raul tense.
“What’s that, sweet thing?”
Gavin lifted his head so that he could lean back a little and look his Alpha in the eyes.
“I...” He took a deep breath, trying to still the little tremble he could feel in his voice. “I want to talk to my father. I mean, I want you to. If you want to. I know that I probably shouldn’t be the one initiating it, but-”
Raul laid a finger over his mouth, a grin stretched wide and white across his face. “You can stop talking, baby. I think I know where you’re going with this.”
Oh, good.
“And we’ve talked about it before. It’s not exactly like you’re bringing it up out of nowhere to force me into a meeting, so you don’t need to worry about that.” He leaned down and brushed his lips against Gavin’s. “And yeah, baby. I want to. God. I’ve wanted to since the day I met you. You know that.”
