"I'll call you,” I promise.
"Text would be better.” Violet laughs and waves goodbye to me as I see her get into Mom’s car and drive away.
I go back upstairs still drenched in disgust from my day and all the horrible people that I've encountered. I want to take a shower to wash it all off.
After I do, the disgust lingers in the air like mold.
There's nothing I can do for Violet now, but there is something that I can do for her later.
I open my laptop, find the school’s website, and click on their financial aid information.
One of the tabs says: Want to see how you can afford the school for your child?
I click on it and start to fill out the information packet.
