This Foreign Affair
Page 20
“Two middle-aged women kissing in the middle of an airport,” Ben jokes. “What has the world come to.”
What has the world come to, indeed, I think, when I loosen myself from Camille’s hug and look into her tearful face. It has come to this. Her and me together. The beginning of our life together.
THE END
Zoya and Camille will be back in a brand new season of French Kissing that will be released in early 2018.
A Note from Harper
Dear Reader,
If you’ve enjoyed this book, you can make a big difference. Reviews are the most powerful tools in my arsenal when it comes to getting attention for my books. Being an author who writes for a niche market (lesbian fiction), I don’t have the financial muscle of a big New York publisher behind me when it comes to marketing. I can’t take out full page newspaper ads and put posters in the subway.
But I do have something much more powerful and effective than that, and it’s something those publishers would kill to get heir hands on: a committed and loyal group of readers. (You!)
Honest reviews of my books bring them to the attention of other readers (and encourage the Amazon algorithm to promote my books in 'Also Boughts' and search results on the website.)
If you enjoyed this book I would be very grateful if you could spend a few minutes leaving a review (it can be as short as you like) on the book’s Amazon page. You can find the links HERE >>
Thank you,
Harper xo

Acknowledgments
As I write this, I’m a couple of chapters into Book Six of the Pink Bean series, and I can’t tell you what a joy it is to come back to these characters and this place again and again. Even though I’ve previously written High Rise and French Kissing, this feels like my first proper series. One I can return to indefinitely if I were to feel so inclined.
The reason it took me so long to take the plunge and devise a long-running series (I’ve currently planned up to Book Nine), was because I was afraid. I love a shiny new thing as much as the next person (or perhaps even more because I am, after all, a writer in constant need of procrastination material.) It may sound a bit strange, but I was afraid I would bore myself, having to return to the same old characters and the same old place. But the opposite has been true. Partly because every book introduces a healthy number of new characters, but also because the recurring cast now has a place in my heart.
I dream of Robin’s rock hard abs and I imagine myself singing like Josephine while Caitlin looks at me in admiration. Every time I order a cappuccino, I wish it was Micky serving it to me and if Amber were an actual real-life yoga teacher, I might actually make it to a class more than once every three years. When I enter a particularly cozy coffee shop, I sometimes find myself thinking: hm, this would make a great Pink Bean.
But more than anything, in this rather tumultuous time in my life (I’m currently traveling and have been prone to massive bouts of homesickness, which are even harder when you don’t really know where home actually is), writing this series, and this book in particular—of which I wrote half during our last weeks in Hong Kong and half while on the road in New Zealand—has been such an enormous source of comfort. An anchor, if you will, to tether me to something I know: writing these characters. (And super long sentences with commas abound.) ;-)
For me, Pink Bean equals joy. I can’t tell you when I last had a bad day of writing. Sometimes it feels like these books just write themselves. Because everything that defines them is such an ingrained part of me now. And even though This Foreign Affair is not a book with a big message (unlike the previous three), it’s still important because of all the passion and big-heartedness I tried to put into it. Because isn’t every romance ultimately about one thing?
Speaking of (love, that is). Lots of love to everyone who has made this a better book. The usual suspects were all part of it once again: my endlessly patient wife, Caroline; my skilled and snarky editor, Cheyenne; my ever-optimistic beta reader, Carrie; every fantastic member of my Launch Team; and of course, you, dear reader. You have given me so much and every single word I write is, ultimately, for you.
Thank you.
