  They drove home and told Andy, who jumped up and down with excitement and then drew a picture of Mommy, Daddy, Andy, and a little brother and sister.

  “You drew a brother and a sister, why Andy?” said Sam.

  “Daddy, I want both, don’t you?” said Andy as he jumped into Sam’s lap.

  “You know, I think that I do, what shall we name them, Andy, although we may get just one?” Sam loved his little boy very much.

  “Maybe?” He was thinking hard. “Maybe Andy 2 and Sarah.” Andy laughed.

  Sam’s felt like his heart had stopped. Susie knew about Sarah but shook her head.

  “Andy, how did you find out about Sarah?” said Susie quietly.

  “I don’t know. I just did,” said Andy. “When do we eat?”

  “Now,” said Susie, as she pulled an open bag of cookies from her purse and dropped them on the table. Susie plopped down next to Andy and they both began to gobble them up.

  Sam stared with his mouth agape. His heart was pounding. “Is it not over?” he thought. “Please let it be over. There has to be a simple reason. But what is it?

  “I was raised in Rock Island, Illinois. I had happily lived most of my adult life in

  California, however, but recently moved back to my old hometown. I had missed it and

  now enjoy the snow, but not the shoveling of it, of course. I have a terrific grown-up son,

  Timothy, who I love dearly.

  I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree and

  completed two years of post-graduate studies at California State University in Northridge.

  I worked many years as a teacher and actress. I have also written, produced, and directed

  my own independent films and acted in small roles on television and all sizes of roles on

  stage.

  Acceleration is my first action/thriller novel. I had a great time writing it. I

  especially enjoyed writing my heroic lead character, Sam Stone. I was thrilled by

  his courage, caring for others, honesty, sense of humor, and his fight for the right, against

  all odds.
