Flames Over Frosthelm

by Dave Dobson

My deepest thanks go to my wife and family for all their support of this project, both direct (reading and talking about Frosthelm) and indirect (not minding when I disappear into the basement for hours, or take my laptop with me in the car, in the hotel room, or at band camp). Especially to Christina, whose love of me and support for my silly ideas have always been unconditional.

My parents, also, fostered in me a love of books and of reading at every opportunity. My mother, Cynthia Dobson, is a professional college librarian, and she ensured during my childhood that we would get to the Ames Public Library every week or two to get a fresh batch of books to read, providing endless new adventures to explore. My father’s stories, and his own novels and history books, are likewise an inspiration.

In short, I have a wonderful wife whom I dearly love, and a terrific family, and some of the best friends in the world. I hope you do too.

May the Bloodmother’s Ugliest Daughter cut you some slack when you need it. Thanks again for reading.

  Things to Try

If you want to keep current on all the news from Frosthelm, including the sequel to this book that’s currently in the works, please visit my site at DaveDobsonBooks.com. I’ll update my blog there with news, reports, ideas, and tidbits about my writing and other projects.

There’s also a mailing list you can join here: Join Frosthelm! I promise e-mails will be infrequent and juicy with news.

If you like puzzle games or escape rooms, I’ve created a card game that includes a bunch of escape room style puzzles. It’s called Doctor Esker’s Notebook. It’s fun solo or with a group, as a game night, to put out on a coffee table, or to enjoy during a lazy afternoon. It has hints to help if you get stuck. More information is here. You can also find it on Amazon.

  About the Author

A native of Ames, Iowa, Dave loves writing, reading, boardgames, computer games, improv comedy, pinball, pizza, barbarian movies, and the cheaper end of the Taco Bell menu. Also, his wife and kids.

Dave is the author of Snood, Snoodoku, Snood Towers, and other computer games. He first published Snood in 1996, and it became one of the most popular shareware games of the early Internet. His most recent games are Scryptix and Polaric (coming soon). He also designs and publishes boardgames though his company, Plankton Games. You can see his games at the Plankton Games website.

Dave teaches geology, environmental studies, and computer programming at Guilford College, and he does improv comedy every week at the Idiot Box in Greensboro, North Carolina. He’s also played the world’s largest tuba in concert. Not that that is relevant, but it’s still kinda cool.

Flames over Frosthelm is Dave’s first novel.
