  Epilogue

As Cherry Hollow’s new mayor, single omega Grayson Briggs has finally found his calling, and he refuses to make family values a keystone of his campaign. His popularity ratings are high as he strives to make his hometown safer for everyone. When Grayson’s heat approaches, he doesn’t see a problem sharing it with the confident, but egotistical, PR alpha on his team—no strings attached.

Bristol Scott has been lonely since his parents died. His twin brother left town, abandoning him to raise their little sister and manage the family farm. Things have been tough, but he’s made it work. What he never expected was that Cherry Hollow’s mayor would take an interest in him, especially since they’ve never met before… but is it real, or just a fantasy?

Blair Scott has wanted to get into Grayson’s pants since he came on board his election team, but he knows a lost cause when he sees one. Blair isn’t looking for anything serious, just one hot night to make some great memories. A chance visit to the family farm puts him directly in Grayson’s path—at just the right time.

Pregnancy was never part of Grayson’s plans, but accidents happen—and now Cherry Hollow’s youngest mayor must choose between a set of twins he can’t help falling for. When the twins both want him, and he wants them in return, can they put aside their difference and make their unique family work?

  Blair Scott

Grayson Briggs’ ass was perfect. The kind I could spend the night feasting on, laying the mark of my teeth on each cheek before I licked him out. He’d collapse on the mattress as though he had no bones in his body. A mess of limbs, moaning and exhausted, as I continued to fuck him with my tongue.

That’s what I did to omegas. I ravished them until they remembered my name and it was what they called out in bed with someone else.

Grayson was on a whole different level, though. He didn’t jump into bed easily with alphas, not when he had an image to uphold. He was careful who he spent the night with, and I was one of his team members who made sure nothing about his activities was leaked to the media, what little of it existed in Cherry Hollow. Honestly, the real problem was keeping a lid on the local gossipmongers.

Grayson looked extra delicious today, with a charcoal suit that melded with his long legs and clung to his ass like they were made for those cheeks. I silently applauded the tailor we’d hired to create his wardrobe. He’d worked wonders on the suits and each one added something new to Grayson’s appearance, but they all shouted elegance and power.

“What do you think, Blair?” Grayson spun on his heel, his ass disappearing from my line of sight as he turned toward me.

“Hm?” I hadn’t listened to a word he’d said because I’d been too focused on his body. “Sorry, what?”

Grayson smiled the real smile he kept for his close friends and those coworkers he liked. “Mr. Samson says I should think about marrying and having children. He believes it’ll be good for my image. The family type. I prefer being truthful to my people and that means no lies about being in love with someone when I’m not.”

I tugged on my suit and straightened my back, glancing at my boss. Todd Samson was an old-fashioned fool who believed in families and the sanctity of blood bonds. He reminded me of my brother, Bristol. The kind of man who lectured me on being loyal to family ties. I’d never been a fan of him, and how Todd had risen so high in public relations with those views was a mystery.

“The people don’t want a family man, Mr. Mayor. They want someone they can trust. I agree with you about not lying to your supporters. You should keep the focus on your antidrug policies.”

Todd narrowed his eyes and shoved himself to his feet. He looked small and boring in the mayor’s office with his cheap suit that sat too heavily on his thin shoulders.

There was something to be said about city hall’s old architecture, from the stone columns standing outside, to the high ceilings and handsomely designed beams inside. The mayor’s office was no different with its soft white palettes, golden sconce lights, and mahogany furniture.

“I think Mr. Scott has forgotten who is in charge here, Mr. Mayor. I am the senior PR advisor, and I believe—”

“Senior or not, Mr. Samson, Blair brings the views of the younger generation. My generation.” Grayson took a seat behind his desk and threaded his fingers together on top. He stared between me and Todd carefully with watchful brown eyes. “I trust both of your opinions, but I’ll need to think about this a little longer, especially since it would directly impact my personal life. I do need to look beyond Cherry Hollow if I want to stay in politics. Mr. Samson may be right.”

Todd nodded sharply and gestured for me to follow him out of the mayor’s office. I smiled at Grayson and followed my boss into the reception area. Grayson’s secretary fluttered her fingers at me as we strode past, and I winked at the busty goddess. If Grayson hadn’t caught my attention, I might have been tempted to spend the night with her. The flirting had been hot, but not as hot as with Grayson.

As soon as we walked out of the waiting area and into the hallway, Todd spun on me, eyes wild with silent fury. A weaker man might have faltered under his glare, but I’d had it directed at me enough I was used to it by now.

“What have I told you about keeping your mouth shut when we’re with the mayor?” he hissed quietly.

A woman in a tight pencil dress sauntered by, and Todd smiled at her, though it was a tight curve of his lips. He was a beta, a normal person without a classification, but he was handsome enough with a good facial structure and salt-and-pepper hair. I imagined he could pull a few hotties into his bed. Not that I thought he would. He was too uptight.

“Grayson wanted to know my op
inion.” I flashed the woman a charming smile of my own, and she returned it. I already knew who she would choose between me and him. They always chose me. She disappeared into a doorway to another office.

“Mr. Briggs wanted you to confirm what I told him.” He shoved a finger in my direction. “This is your second strike, Blair.”

It was my sixth, actually, but I was amazing at my job and Todd didn’t want to fire me.

“Yes, sir.” I bit back the urge to tell him where to stick it. I wasn’t the kind of guy who liked having superiors, but I needed this job to keep up with my lavish lifestyle. The pay wasn’t what I was used to after coming from DC, but it kept me from raiding my savings, and that was most of what I was worried about.

Todd’s nostrils flared and he spun on his heel, storming down the corridor and out of the building. I watched him go with pursed lips and forced down the urge to laugh at his dramatic flounce.

The door to Grayson’s office opened, and I glanced back to see who it was.

Grayson smiled and walked toward me. His ginger hair complemented the dark wooden furniture as though he’d been meant for city hall from the beginning. He also had these cute dimples that dipped into his cheeks when he smiled at me, and his thick red eyebrows would slope closer to his eyes. His entire face moved with every expression he made. “I was hoping you hadn’t left yet.”

I put on my most charming smile, the one I’d practiced in the mirror for the modeling jobs I had in college. “I always dither in hopes you’ll follow me.” Flirting was as natural as breathing, but when it came to Grayson, I found myself unable to stop. I craved the man in my bed and in my arms. I wanted to trace my tongue over every inch of his tanned skin.

“Well, here I am.” Grayson laughed gently.

  “I hope I didn’t overstep back there.”

He shook his head and folded his toned arms over his chest, causing the suit to tighten around his biceps. Even through the thick material I could see how defined his muscles were.

“No, you didn’t. Todd doesn’t understand that while my campaign focused on family and antidrug policies, my definition of family isn’t strictly a partner and kids. It was about community and friends, too. There are plenty of bachelors and bachelorettes living in our town. That’s what Jacob forgot when he was mayor.” Grayson touched my upper arm and squeezed it. “Thank you for being honest with me, Blair.”

I laid my hand over his. “That’s what I’m here for, Mr. Mayor.”

He glanced at our hands and back to my face, the curve of his lips growing. “I appreciate it.”

I caressed the skin on the back of his hand and inhaled his soft omega scent—the smell of freshly ground coffee, probably the same stuff he devoured every morning, or so Nadine told me. She told me a lot of things about Grayson.

“Do you want to go for a drink?” I asked, letting go of his hand when he pulled away. I didn’t show my disappointment at not being able to touch him longer. I was close enough to see the light spatter of freckles over his nose. They weren’t visible unless you were close to him, in breathing distance, and they were cute as hell, just like the rest of him. I never thought I was the type to prefer redheads, but Grayson had proven me wrong. It helped that I enjoyed his mind as much as his body. He wasn’t only smart, but witty and charming, too.

He held my gaze. “I can’t. My PR team would kill me. All I need is to be seen tipsy on someone’s Facebook feed and the church crowd would be at town hall with pitchforks.” Then he grinned teasingly, causing a curved crease around his mouth.

“I have an apartment near Hawthorne. It’s secure. No one can get in without a passcode, and I’ll make sure the security guards know to watch out for Denis from the newspaper.” I stepped closer, probably closer than what would usually be allowed. His scent tickled my nostrils, teased me to take his lips with mine. “What do you say? I have a few good wines laid up. I have a cedar wine closet, the closest thing you can get to a cellar without actually owning a house.”

Grayson raised his red brows. “A wine closet, hmm? I want to see that.” His lips twitched toward a smile.

Time was getting away from us. I checked the Rolex watch I’d bought with my first-ever paycheck. It was closing in on five in the afternoon. “Are you finished soon? I can wait. My car is in the building garage and no one will see us head to it.”

He swallowed, his Adam’s apple dipping in his throat, and he glanced back toward the office door. “Give me five minutes. You grab your belongings, and I’ll be back.” He didn’t wait for a reply, simply headed back into the office.

I returned to my desk and grabbed my jacket and briefcase, then returned to where I’d waited for him before and leaned against the wall, my arms crossed. I smiled at the few people who walked past, but they didn’t pay much attention. Soon Grayson exited the door again with his duster on and briefcase in hand.

“Lead the way,” he said when he reached me.

I led him down the corridor and to the back door that led to the garage. The security guard beside the door studied us carefully but didn’t say anything as I gestured to my Giallo Evros Lamborghini Avendtador. Technically, it was yellow, but you didn’t buy a Lamborghini and call it yellow. It deserved its real color name. Giallo Evros had elegance, a foreign tongue twister which made me sound more cultured than I was.

Grayson sent me a glance of disbelief but stayed silent while I raised the passenger door for him. He fell onto the plush leather seat, and I closed the door before I walked around to my side and hopped in. I pushed the ignition button. We were on the road before he spoke again.

“I should be surprised at what type of car you have with the salary you’re on, but I’m not.” He played with the buttons on the radio, and I bit my lip to stop myself from saying something about it. I hated when people messed with my car, but if I wanted him in my bed, I had to shut my mouth.

“Am I that predictable?” I grabbed his hand and threaded our fingers. The movement seemed to surprise him, and he squinted at me thoughtfully.

“You’re fancy.” He nodded at my suit. “You wear Armani and you have a Rolex. You have expensive tastes.”

“You obviously know about expensive tastes.”

  “How can you afford it?”

I shrugged. “Modeling while I was at college. Inheritance from my parents. Savings from my last job.”

He crossed his legs at his knees and sat back against the seat, the leather squeaking at the movement. His hand squeezed mine. It felt good, all smooth and cool skin, like a man who hadn’t done a day of manual labor in his life. I liked that because I grew up on a farm and hated getting my hands dirty, as much as I hated being jerked off by a man with callouses on his palms.

“You remind me of my ex-boyfriend.”

Fuck. I cringed. Not exactly what I wanted to hear.

He laughed. “We split amicably. I wanted to pursue my mayoral candidacy in Cherry Hollow, and he wanted to chase after acting. I don’t believe we were in love with each other, either. We didn’t fight for the relationship.”

  “Still, your ex?”

He raised his brows. “Are you insulted?”

“Nope.” I snorted. “Once someone has been with me, they won’t confuse me for anyone else.”

“You’re awfully confident.” He raised our hands and nodded to them. “What’s this?”

I glanced into his green gaze and chuckled deeply. “You were touching my radio.”

If Grayson was the type of guy to roll his eyes, he probably would have then. He stared at me in disbelief, instead. “Yes, definitely like my ex.”

I didn’t reply but directed my car toward my condo as we neared Hawthorne, pulling up to the electronic gates that surrounded our building. Tomas, my security guard, waved at the car and lumbered over to us.

  “Good evening, Mr. Scott.”

“Hello, Tomas.” I released Grayson’s hand and shifted so Tomas would have trouble seeing around me when he tried to peer inside the car. I had a
feeling Grayson wouldn’t want to be seen by anyone. “Listen, I have a special guest tonight, a guest that may attract… attention if anyone gets wind that he’s here. If it looks someone who resembles that reporter from the Cherry Hollow Bulletin is attempting to get through the gates—”

Tomas nodded sharply and tugged at the bill of his hat, his chest puffing out. “Yes, sir. No one will get past me.”

I smiled and grabbed my wallet. I passed him a hundred-dollar bill, and even though he held out his hand to refuse, I insisted by pushing it closer to him.

He took it with a grateful twitch of his lips and opened the gates for us. I drove into the plush parking garage, which was located underground, directly below the building. Grayson hummed in approval when I turned into my designated spot.

“I’m impressed.” He threw me a grin before he exited the car. I took the chance to check out his ass again before he shut the door and hid it from me.

I followed him out. “Are you impressed with me, or the building?”

  “You’ll never know.”

I winked at him and led him toward the elevator. Each floor of the building housed some of the better-off folks of Hawthorne. The floor below mine belonged to a Hollywood actor who used it when he was on vacation, though most people never believed me when I told them.

My penthouse had cost me a pretty penny. If Grayson was impressed when we stepped out of the elevator and I opened the interior door, he didn’t show it. His face remained passive as he stepped into perfection. With polished marble floors and exposed beams, it was one of the finest pieces of architecture I had come across when searching for a home. The design was simple, with pieces of oak furniture and a glass dining table. The kitchen had white cupboards and an island counter with tall oak stools.

I grinned at Grayson when he finished gazing around at it all. “Want a drink?”

“What do you have?” He slipped off both his winter and suit jackets, hanging them on the hooks near the door. It left him in a white dress shirt, and I watched with interest as he rolled up the sleeves, exposing his strong forearms. The hair on his arms was as red as the strands on his head.
