Chapter 42
Lucy
This was not how I pictured tonight ending. Not by a long shot.
Wrapped up in a duvet and drinking hot chocolate, whilst staring at the stars on a balcony with Kevin.
I sneak a peak at his profile, taking in every little detail from his long eyelashes to his soft full mouth sipping his drink, to his fluffy hair because the wax has vanished.
'What are you smiling at madam?' He asks still staring upwards.
'Nothing, except the gorgeous man sitting next to me who wants to be my husband.'
'Who would have thought that we could make it this far, especially the way things have been this past year or so?'
'I know, but we did, and I want you to know how happy I am that we have made it.' I lean forward and kiss his nose before settling back into my spot and resting my head on his shoulder.
'You are sure you want to marry me though, aren't you?' He asks me for the hundredth time.
'Yes. No exceptions, anytime, anyplace I will always say yes.' I confirm staring directly into his eyes. I cup my hand over his cheek and kiss him while he shuffles closer to me under the duvet and I feel his arms lock around me.
I break away first to have another mouthful of the hot chocolate and see Kate and Luke's car pulling away to a loud cheer and whistling.
'Well they finally did it and are off into the sunshine. We should have gone down to wave them off really.' I say keeping my eyes on the car until it disappears around the bend.
'I seriously doubt either of them expected us to be coming back down.' He reassures me stroking me softly own my spine.
'Hmmmm.'
'We won't be like our parents you know. Mine especially.' He says reading my mind change.
'I would just like to put it out there that if you do a runner on me like my Dad then I will hunt you down and find you, just so I can wear your balls as earrings as a warning for any other man.' I say with a wink.
'I would never do that, I promise. There is no way I could inflict any pain on you on purpose. I also have that lovely warning fresh in my head as well.' He takes my mug away from me and slides me onto his lap. 'I think we should head back inside and make the most of the suite while we have it, don't you?' Before I can attempt to reply, I am in the air laughing and wriggling as he carries me through the doors.
'Stop bloody fidgeting, I am practising carrying you over the threshold woman.' He informs me before not so elegantly dumping me on the bed.
'Well I hope you wasn't planning on dropping me on the day.' I warn him.
Climbing over to me with a grin that makes my stomach flip he pins me down and leans into my ear.
'I love you Lucy soon to be Taylor.'
'I love you too Kevin...'
'Now shut up, because I have a few other things I would like to practise before the wedding night.' He orders me.
I love this man.
