Topsy Turvy Kinda Love Page 25

by J Marie

“Thank you for asking a guy you didn’t know very well to move in. Giving me a chance to prove to you that I’m not like every other guy before me. For giving me the key to unlock your past and let me into that beautiful heart of yours. For allowing me to love you and for loving me back. For allowing me to raise our incredible twins with you. For making me a father. Words will never truly express how incredible our journey has been, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next.”

My eyes start to water. The man in front of me came crashing into my life like a wrecking ball and spun everything I knew upside down. A gasp grows amongst the crowd, and my heart stirs loudly against my chest. Pounding to be let out so it can pour itself out to the man standing in front of me.

“Mia,” he whispers before dropping down to one knee. “Be my wife. My partner. My love. Through schooling, art shows, the bar, and everything in between, I want to be with you and no one else until my dying breath. I want to have a house full of kids. I want to make you the happiest girl alive.”

The tears try to drown my eyes as they flow out and down my cheeks. A smile broadens my face, and I nod. “Yes. Yes. YES!” He opens a small ring box, and the ring is perfect—a solitary sapphire surrounded by tiny diamonds lining the outside of the whole ring.

He stands up and kisses me like I’d just made his whole entire year. See, the thing about Brooks and I is this… we may be weird. We may be awkward. Hell, this whole thing started out as a roommate agreement and morphed into a sex bucket list.

The truth is… our love might be a little topsy turvy, but it’s our kinda love, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The plan was simple. The results are anything but…

I’ve lost too much to even think about opening my heart to anyone again. Grief consumed my life, and all I wanted was to be left alone so I could drown my sorrows while trying to find a sliver of relief at the bottom of a bottle.

But my father saw right through me, throwing me a curveball I never saw coming. Go back to working at our family’s law firm, or take a wife. If I don’t, I can kiss my inheritance goodbye.

Luckily, I have another card up my sleeve—and her name is Macy. She’s shy, sweet, with curves in all the right places. She’s also the perfect solution to my problem if I can convince her that what I’m proposing will end up benefiting us both. It’s easy.

She needs money, and I need a wife. It’s a win-win situation. The way I see it, it’s just another business transaction.

No commitment. No strings. Zero complications. What could possibly go wrong?

“Written in the Sand is quite an emotional ride! From page one, the captivating storyline takes off and leads me on an unforgettable journey. Such an inspirational romance about moving forward from destruction and finding that special someone to share forever with.”—USA Today Bestselling Author, Harloe Rae

I always believed my happily ever after came with the words “I do.”

I’d been happy once. In love. Until one night changed everything.

Changed us. The love of my life, or so I thought, had become my own worst nightmare.

  So here I am…

Back in Moonshine Springs. A place I wouldn’t return to unless absolutely necessary. But that’s not the biggest shock. Waiting for me with open arms and a safe place to stay is my high school best friend’s brother, Beau. He’s told me I’m his, but starting over isn’t as easy as creating a new happily ever after. My past isn’t done with me and soon enough, bleeds into my present.

My name is Cassidy Mae and this is my chance to begin again…

*This book contains some scenes of domestic and graphic violence, sexual scenes, and mature themes. Please be aware these may cause triggers for the reader. *

Melting Wynter (425 Madison Ave Book 20)

  Weston Croix

Okay, so I might have a few playboy like tendencies. That tends to happen when you fall in love and don’t end up with the happily ever after of your dreams. I built a wall around my heart and decided to have a little fun instead.

Now, I’ve found myself falling for the ice queen herself. Did I mention that she’s also my editor-in-chief?

She’s not interested in me or being an us, but when our best friends start dating, we can no longer escape our insecurities or the fire burning between us.

I guess I’m just going to have to turn up the heat and melt her heart.

  Wynter Carlisle

I’ve got the perfect job, an apartment in NYC’s elite 425 Madison high rise and life as I know is great.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that people are fickle and love isn’t always permanent. I’m the only one I can always count on, well except for my best friend Addison.

I had a plan to protect my heart. That was, until Weston—the cocky columnist who works for me…in more ways than one.

Can we really break down our own barriers or will our destiny go up in flames? We’re about to find out.

After all, 425 Madison is the perfect place to fall in love!

  Melting Wynter (Weston and Wynter)

Hopefully if you’re reading this it means you made it to the end! I hope the journey was worth it. Mia has been on my mind for the last year and I’ve added and erased so many times that I questioned if she would ever make an appearance in the world. I AM SO GLAD she did. I fell in love with Brooks and Mia. Their story. I hope you loved them too! That being said… book number four published! I can’t hardly wrap my head around it. I’ve wanted to quit this book so many times, but I’m glad I didn’t.

This year? Man, it’s honestly been a tough one. We’re all trying to persevere and do the absolute best that we can with what we’ve been given. It’s been a struggle and I want to tell you… it’s okay to not be okay. Just take one day at a time, one breath at a time and we’ll get there. I have to remind myself that often these days. That being said… I want to give a huge thank you to YOU for picking up this book in these challenging times to just read my words. You have zero idea how much it means to me. You are the reason I write! I could shout it from the top of the empire state building and it wouldn’t be enough… THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

To my husband, you’ve been such a stronghold in my author and regular life. You pick me up when I’m down. You tell me I can do it when I tell you continually that I have no clue what the hell I’m doing. You encourage me to write even when I want to crawl into a ball and just sleep to drown out the world. You make me laugh in the stupidest ways. You’re my favorite road trip buddy and sometimes your ideas for my books are outlandish, yet brilliant. I would rather be drunk in love with you than any other being in this universe. You my guy and for that I’m ever grateful.

To, Sarah… words cannot express how much appreciation and admiration for you. You always seem to know when I need an encouraging word or a laugh. Your friendship is one of my true favorites. Without this amazing book community, I wouldn’t have met you and that would’ve been an utter shame! Thank you for making life more exciting and hilarious.

To Jill… Thank you isn’t enough for how I feel about our friendship. You’re always there with words of wisdom and a kind thought when I need it most. You’ll never know how much you truly matter to me.

To Ally… thank you for stressing out over my books just as much as I do. For continuing to push me to be better, to do better. For giving all the encouraging words even when I don’t want to hear them. I appreciate you so much!

I’m forever grateful that I found Talia at Book Cover Kingdom. I wish I could say we’ve been together since my first book, but… better late than never, right? You make kickass covers and graphics and for that you’ve got me as long as this author life takes me. I’m always excited to work on new projects and I’m so thankful for your friendship! You are a sweet soul and I hope that never changes! I can’t wait to see what we do next and I’M SO IN LOVE WITH MIA’S COVER!!! I’m SO GLAD I didn’t make you wait til 2021 to show off this gorgeous thing!!!!

A HUGE thank you to Stacey with Champagne Book Design for making this formatting look so epic! I love your creativity and how you effortlessly find the perfection of images! Without your help, my book would not be half as pretty! I have a new appreciation for all the work it takes to format novels these days after purchasing Vellum myself earlier this year. What I can do isn’t half as pretty or professional as your stuff. So, thank you. For being patient with me and for always fitting me in! Your work doesn’t go unnoticed and I just want you to know how important you are in this process!

To Jill, Ally, Norma, Rose, Amanda, JoAnna, Carolina—thank you so much for everything you do! The sharing, the encouragement, the belief that I can write books time and time again when I question myself. The writing community needs more amazing people like you. The reviews, the messages, the inspiration, everything—you mean the world to me and I can’t shout it enough. You took a chance on me with Second Chance Rescue, Written in the Sand… and here with are… a year later and YOU’RE STILL HERE!!!! There are so many more of you included in this thank you, but I’d write a book with just your names! You know who you are!

This year I met two amazing ladies, Aubree and Lauren, with Forever Write PR. You two took a chance on a young writer and made a dream come true (writing for the 425 Madison series). You’ve helped me so much over these last few months and I feel like thank you doesn’t even cover how I feel. From book tours to social media calendar help, amazon category help, and everything in between… THANK YOU!!! You make releases so easy and that is something that’s magical!

To my beta readers—Rose, Sarah, Rachel, and Norma—Thank you so much for making Topsy Turvy Kinda Love even better than it was at the beginning. Your notes, encouragement, questions, and overall support is something I could never replace in a million years. Each one of you is so dear to me and I’m glad we’ve become book world friends!

To my author friends, new and old—Gabrielle, Eliza, Julie, Leigh L., Rachel, Becca, Ashton, Anna, and Gail. You ladies are so encouraging and inspire me to write all the things! I’m so thankful for each and every one of you, even though we don’t talk on the daily! It’s always nice to pick up where we left off!

My review team is some of the best readers I’ve ever met. Your endless love of my words and your continual want to read them inspires me to write more and you guys… the stories I have brewing right now may be some of my best yet!

Thank you to Jenny for taking the time to edit my book. For fixing all my comma’s and periods, haha. I know there were so many! You are so very appreciated!

Thank you to Yvette for proofreading this beauty! Thank you for fitting me in and understanding when I had to tweak my schedule up. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to Carlos and Fede at Codigo 1530 for allowing me to use your tequila name in this novel. If any of my readers are looking for an amazing tequila… this is going to be your jam! I had one too many trying it out and man, it’s GOOD!

To my reader group, J Marie Lit Ink Lovers… you guys are the reason for the words I write. Thank you for all the comments, suggestions, playing along with my silly polls, and offering suggestions and thoughts. A big thank you to Jill for picking out the name Piper Brielle for our little girl! The polls I do in my group make such a difference and I definitely take them into consideration in my books. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to stick around and be the best readers and some of the best friends a girl could ask for in this lifetime!
