The four climbers, in other words, were in the pay of those who on no account would want it known that Walter Richman died, gruesomely, atop the very mountain he conquered.
Still believe that the whole tale is nonsense?
Well, only the Richman family knows for sure. And as has been the case for a hundred years and more they remain aloof in their world of wealth and privilege, and feel no compunction to tell the rest of us. As for the Wheel, no one has successfully climbed it since the Anniversary team. So for now, the Hand of God keeps hold of its secrets.
