  “I know, and I am happy. It’s just a lot to take in, you know?” Luke nodded.

  “Like, what is it about you Jones boys and these grand gestures? First Arlo buys London an entire photographic studio. Now you’ve bought me a flower shop. I hope that doesn’t mean that this baby is also twins. I’m not ready for that whirlwind in my life—Ronnie is already work enough.” I laughed heartily, and Luke joined me for a few moments until the sound suddenly died in his throat.

  “Wait. What? What baby? Are you...?”

  I nodded slowly.

  “It’s early days yet, just over six weeks, but, yeah, you’re gonna be a daddy to more than just Ronnie. We’re having a baby.” Now it was Luke’s turn to lose it, and he didn’t have raging hormones as an excuse.

  “Are you for real?” He swiped at the tears on his cheeks.

  “Sure am. I found out this morning.”

  “And you let me bellyache on about this place when all the while you knew you had the best news of all?” He was smiling again, but it was totally different from moments earlier. Before he looked happy, but now he looked ecstatic.

  “I had no idea what you were doing, even once I did, I didn’t want to steal your thunder.”

  He pulled me into his arms, looking down at me with his intense emerald gaze that always made me forget which way was up.

  “Nothing matters as much as this, sweetheart. As much as you and our baby, or babies if that’s the way the chips fall. I thought I couldn’t love you any more than I already did, then boom! You drop this on me and my heart just exploded. I love you so fucking much.”

  “I love you too, more than I thought I ever could. Now shut up and kiss me.”
