The Shadow of the Magi

“We can’t just lie down and die Luc, we can’t let him win. We have come so far, and we can’t stop now,” Abigail said out loud crossing her arms staring at her brothers’ staff.

“I owe the master for corrupting me for so long. The darkness that I felt and the void inside of me is something I never want to feel again. I am pretty sure your friend also wants some pay back,” Mazikeen said out loud taking her staff and planting it next to Lucuris’s as she gave him a quick smirk.

“For thousands of years our people have been afraid of the Old ones. They would try to ignore their existence and go about their lives. The Magi Order and the elders never listened to me and shun me because I wanted to reveal the truth. No longer can they ignore what is going on. This is not just your fight Lucuris, it is your fathers, it is mine, your friends, everyone’s fight. We have to protect our plane of existence from the master and to do that we have to do it together,” Lucidian said out loud planting his staff in the ground next to Mazikeens staff.

“I hope we can count on you Alexander. I know you and Bailey are busy protecting your city, but we could use the help,” Lucuris said out loud looking at the dirt in front of him.

“Before you came Lucuris, before all this it was just the two of us. I always worked alone, but eventually I saw how silly that was. Me and Bailey will help fight, and make sure the master stays out of our plane. It won’t be an easy battle, but nothing is that simple,” Alexander said out loud placing his hand on Bailey’s shoulder.

“So, what do we do now, just wait for him to come to us?” Bailey said out loud taking her Bo staff and twirling it in front of her.

“The only way I can think of is going back to me and Lucuris’s home world. To gather all the Magi that we can and to have them aid us in our fight,” Lucidian said out loud crossing his arms and lowering his head.

Lucuris looked at him and wondered what he was thinking. He felt there was something he wasn’t telling them and knew that he had to know what it was. “Why do you look worried Lucidian. Shouldn’t you be happy to go home, so you can you people that you knew and haven’t seen for a long time?” Lucuris said out loud picking up his staff and looking at his chaos crystal.

“They will probably be happy to see your father, me not so much. I don’t think the elders are that forgiving since I did steal the Blood Crystal from their vault. It was the only way I could think of to try and show them the error of their ways. But they were there when I let the power take me in, and it was your father that had to stop me.I was like a monster on the loose and I’m not sure they would even hear me out,” Lucidian said out loud as he let out a heavy sigh.

“We won’t know until we try and if they try to say no I will make sure they hear us out. You have given so much and for what, to give up now. Lucidian your people, our people will need us,” Lucuris said out loud looking at Lucidian with determination in his eyes. The fire burned inside his body and he was ready to finish the master any way that he could, but he knew that he needed everyone to be at their best.

“Very well, but we have to go now, and talk to The Elders,” Lucidian said out loud as he picked up his staff and started to whisper softly into his Blood Crystal.

The blood started to fall to the floor and twisted off the ground making an outline of a door. The door itself had markings and symbols and was not something Lucuris or any of his friends had ever seen.

“Once we go through the door Lucuris, we won't return for a good while. It is going to take a lot out of my crystal, but we need that time to try and gain aid, if anyone will hear us out,” Lucidian said out loud as he started to move closer to the door.

“I guess this is goodbye again everyone. Protect our cities and I promise to come back,” Lucuris said out loud turning away from Jessica and his friends feeling the weight or everything drag him down on the inside.

Before he could get any further Jessica grabbed his hand and stopped him dead in his tracks. “And what about me Lucuris, what are you going to do leave me again?” Jessica said out loud pulling him closer to her as she gripped his wrist harder with her hand.

“I have to do this Jessica, and I can’t let anything bad happen to you. I would rather go into the unknown by myself than risk you or everyone else to whatever awaits me,” Lucuris said out loud placing his hands-on Jessica's hips and looking down, staring into her eyes.

“No, no it doesn’t work that way. Abigail, Nick and the rest are more than enough to keep our cities safe. But me and you, we are doing this together. You just have to deal with it,” Jessica said out loud as she gave Lucuris a quick peck, smiled, and skipped forward towards Lucidian with Odin by her side.

“I guess together we are stronger, better get this show on the road,” Lucuris said out loud as he walked towards the door where Lucidian and Jessica were waiting.

“Don’t worry Lucuris I’m sure Jessica can show you think or two about fighting, she learned from the best a course,” Odin said out loud hitting his armored chest with one of his fists laughing out loud.

“Don’t worry bro, we will be fine, just hurry back home, we got a fight to win,” Abigail said out loud holding Nick close to her and waving at Lucuris.

Lucidian walked through the doorway as it opened a portal into a different dimension with Lucuris and Jessica behind him. He could hear the voices in his head calling out to him, cursing him. All the memories from that day came back to him, and he felt fear for the first time in forever. But he knew that he had to go through with it, that it was time to face The Order of the Magi.

The doorway closed as they left their dimension and Abigail and the rest would return to where they lived to rest up and prepare for the battle ahead. Some of them healing from wounds that were left by the master, others trying to keep strong for the darkness that was seeping into their world continued to try and black out the light. It was the world itself that was being cast in shadow because no matter how many demons they killed, minions of the master they stopped, the darkness kept growing and growing. Lucuris was on the clock and had to make it back in time before the master came through their dimension, before everything would be lost.

  EPILOGUE

“So, they want to try and gather the Mages. They want to try and build an army to help them,” The master said out loud sitting on steps that were in front of a throne. The steps themselves were built from decayed skin, and bones of other humans that died by their hands.

“Please stop, don’t do this. I just want to go home,” An unknown man said out loud whimpering trying to break free from the masters grasp.

The master held the man like he was a stuff animal in one hand. His claws and arms were soaked with blood. His sharp fangs and boney cheeks were messy with bits of skin, tissues, and blood.

“Now now, we had a deal that you wouldn’t kill and eat all the people,” A mysterious voice said from the shadows.

“Brother Hast, the man in yellow, you finally came. I guess they left you behind and forgot about you?” The master said out loud grabbing the man he held in his hand and bit down hard on his abdomen ripping his skin and organs from his body as the man himself screamed in pain and horror and slowly died as he bled out onto the floor.

“I have more followers where that comes from, but remember you promise that I could have this world once you reset it,” Hast said out loud walking towards the master and kneeling down rubbing the dead man's face, smiling behind his mask.

“Soon the power of the Magi will disappear. It will be mine and with it the Mages themselves. I will feast on every last one of them, and then no one will ever get in my way,” The master said out loud slowly getting up from the steps and walking towards the shadows.

“Yes, they will not get in your way, but I don’t think it will be that easy brother,” Hast said out loud with a smile on his face.

“It will not be that easy Hast, but I will make sure to help aid your brother,” A mysterious voice said from the shadows.

  “That will do Sonya. I
t’s good for us to finally be on the same side,” Hast said out loud turning and looking at Sonya as she entered into his sight.

She was under a trance and held two long blades to each of her sides as a wicked smile spread across her face.
