“I was doing my job,” I said.
“No. Men never stay loyal when their own life is at stake. It’s extremely rare to meet someone like you.” He gently caressed my cheek with the back of his hand. “I’m so glad you’re mine.”
Heat bloomed in my chest.
I hated how those words affected me. Even though I wanted to protect him, I knew I’d end up destroying his businesses. No matter how much my heart beat for him, I’d never forget I was a cop. The sole reason I was beside him was to wipe out the Sokolov gang.
Victor’s arm wrapped around my waist. Pulling me against him, he captured my lips in a searing kiss. I opened up to him and gave in, knowing deep down I’d give up my life for him.
