  About the Author

  Salim Mujais is a physician and a writer. Born in Shweir (Lebanon) and educated at the American University of Beirut and the University of Chicago, his work focuses on the intellectual history of the Near East and its luminaries. He has produced multi-volume biographies of Antoun Saadeh (the founder and leader of the SSNP), Kahlil Gibran (the Syrian-American painter and writer) and the celebrated Syrian feminist May Ziadeh.
