The Commander's Warrior Mate

“Wow. So that’s sex,” she murmured, floating on a sea of endorphins.
“Mmmhmm. That was basic man-on-top fucking. Did you like it?” he said lazily, his fingers tracing patterns on her hip.
She couldn’t quite open her eyes but somehow she knew he was watching her, cocky but also concerned. She smiled loopily. “It wasn’t the worst. I wouldn’t mind doing it again sometime.”
“I wasn’t too rough? I got a little carried away at the end.” There was a thread of concern in his voice.
“Mmmmm. No.” She moved her thighs experimentally. There was a little soreness between her legs, but not enough to mention. Just enough to remind her of the experience she’d just had.
“Good, because you’re stuck with me. We’re going to do that a lot. That and a bunch of variations.”
She snuggled in close. “So we’re mates? You’re my match?” she asked, her heart full of emotion. She was fairly sure but she wanted to hear it from his lips.
His arm tightened around her. “Yeah. I’m your mate. I’m yours and you’re mine and I love you. The damned dating experiment is over. I’m going to love you until I draw my last breath. If anybody else touches you or so much as looks at you, I’m killing them, then beating the shit out of their dead bodies, then throwing the bodies out the nearest airlock.
“Tomorrow you’re moving in here permanently. I’m going to shove my twenty identical black uniforms over to one side of the closet to make room for your collection of nasty, ripped-up shipsuits. I’ll also help you bring over the shit you have hidden under the floor of your old room.”
“There’s nothing hidden …” Jess said sleepily.
He snorted. “You think I don’t know. That’s adorable.”
She giggled. Pryce relaxed against her and let out a gusty sigh. Jess craned her head and looked at him. “Is something wrong?”
“I haven’t been captain too long, but I’ve served on this ship for years. I know how this works. The crew are going to hear that I’ve found a partner and that she used to live in a cave. Even though most of them are pretty smart, they’re going to get the insane idea that if they go poking around in caves, maybe they’ll find their own mates.”
“And?”
“I’d better see if there are any cave planets near our next destinations. If I don’t, there’ll be a mutiny.”
The End

About the Author
I cut my teeth on the likes of science fiction, which my folks approved of, and the steamiest romance novels I could lay my hands on, which they did not. My stories now blend the two.
My heroines roam the galaxy, flail through adventures, and seek their destinies. When they crash into love in the form of a virile, determined man (give or take a few horns or scales), they’re more inclined to run the opposite direction than to embrace it.
Fortunately, my heroes are determined to hold on to a good thing when they find it. If that means kidnapping their women or faking a spaceship crash, so be it! And if the women are furious or even vengeful when they discover the deception … well, the men will deal with that situation when it arises, even if it means dodging a few projectiles.
I live on the West Coast with my husband, my kid, and whatever animals wander up to our home and move in. I’m sure it’s purely a coincidence that the men in my novels have a gleam in their eyes and a growl just like my husband’s.
I hope that readers will enjoy my stories just as much as I enjoy writing them!
