“Trust me. I have your back. Your front. I’ve got you covered here”—his hands graze my ass, my waist—“here”—they dip between my thighs for a second before retreating the second I arch into his touch—“and definitely here.” He cups my breast and bends his lips to its peak, sucking hard.
The floor spins. Everything inside me needs this man right now. I pull him against the wall.
“Right here,” I murmur.
“Nope. Bedroom.”
“How traditional.”
“I had a few times of thinking I’d never have you in my bed again. I need to reassure myself you aren’t going anywhere.”
“Who knew my best friend had such a fragile male ego?”
His wicked grin makes my knees liquid.
We find our way to the bed and show each other how much we missed being in one another’s arms.
After, he shifts over me, and I thread a hand through his too-long hair.
"Say it," I murmur.
"I love you." The words, in his perfect, rumbling voice against my skin, send shivers through me.
“I love you too. Can we still be friends?”
“Mhmm. But I want you in the spaces between too. In my condo. In my life. I can’t promise to get it right all the time, but in all the areas I tried to push you out, I want you in. Only you.”
My heart expands until I think it’s going to break my chest. “I want that too.”
And I do.
