Watching the two on stage stirred my curiosity about sex and made me remember my fantasy about Reid. In my fantasy, he had been fucking me from behind in the same way that the guy was fucking this girl on stage.
I couldn’t help but look out in the audience in the direction that I had seen Reid go, to see if I could spot him. I almost swallowed my tongue when I looked down and saw his piercing eyes already staring at me.
I was sure that Julia had told me I’d be hidden back there, but it hardly mattered, though, because the fact that I had been able to lock eyes with Reid right when I was thinking about my fantasy was a plus. And as an added bonus, I had the pleasure of seeing his erection tenting through his black pants. He was a good distance away, but I could still see how big his dick was and that he was completely hard. The look on his face said it all.
He wanted me, and he knew that I wanted him. We both stared at each for what seemed like an eternity. It was almost like electricity was passing between us even though we weren’t standing close to each other. It was something that I had never experienced before.
“Are you ready, hon?” asked Julia, walking up to me from the hallway where she’d stepped out to finish her phone call. “You can go next if you’d like.”
I was sure that everyone in the building could have heard my heart pounding in my chest.
Chapter Eight - Amelia
My heart thundered in my chest and my blood roared in my ears as Julia’s question echoed over and over in my head.
Did I want to go next.?
After what I saw, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go at all. Instead of making me feel calmer, seeing the first person auctioned off made me even more nervous.
I was starting to panic.
Get a hold of yourself, I thought. I’m not doing anything that should make me feel uncomfortable. It’s not like I’m auctioning off sex or anything. I’m just auctioning a date. A simple, harmless date.
“I’ll go next,” I heard myself saying before I realized the words were leaving my lips.
I started thinking about what this auction was going to mean for me. It was going to be just the ticket that I needed to finally be able to live out my dreams. I could get myself a nice apartment or loft and get my shop started. And all I had to do was auction off one little date for a night. That was very doable.
If I were to be honest with myself, I secretly was holding out hope that Reid would win the date with me. He seemed like a great guy to spend time with. Plus, I was curious about this generous stranger and wanted the chance to pick his brain.
Julia walked me down the stairs to a side door that led to the huge, open room where the auction was being held. She walked me over to the platform and motioned for me to get on it.
I climbed on the platform and stood with my hands folding in front of me. All of a sudden, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was extremely self-conscious and felt like all of the eyes were on me, questioning and judging me.
Ever since I was a little girl, I had been overweight. My mother used to try putting me on diets and taking me to the gym, assuring me and everyone else that it was just baby fat and that it would melt away. When I was still holding my chubby status as a teenager, my mother gave up and told me that I should just resign myself to being a “fat girl”.
So, needless to say, I hadn’t ever really been comfortable in my own skin. And standing there in a sleek, black dress that hugged every inch of my curves made me even more self-conscious about all of the eyes on me. I felt like they could see all of my rolls and bulges hanging out everywhere, even if black was a more forgiving color.
I looked around and noticed that most people weren’t even actually looking at me. Most were in their own world, having their own conversations about something other than me.
For a moment, I started to worry that maybe I had the wrong fear. I had been so worried about having so many eyes on me. I didn’t consider that it could be even worse than that: that no one would pay any attention to me and I wouldn’t even get auctioned. I imagined myself doing the walk-of-shame and being laughed off of the stage because no one even so much as picked up their paddle while I was standing on the stage.
I thought that I was going to be sick the more that I thought about it.
“Alright, let’s keep this show going,” said Julia brightly. “Up next, we have Amelia. She’s a dream come true, fellas. She’s auctioning off the chance to take her out on a date. Do we have any takers?”
There was a quiet calm that swept across the room after she had finished speaking. Then, about a dozen paddles flew into the air.
“Hang on,” Julia laughed, “I haven’t even put any numbers out there.”
Everyone else laughed, including me. I was shocked and flattered to see that so many guys were interesting in taking me on a date.
I looked over at where Reid sat, one leg crossed on top of the other one. He was scrolling through his phone like he wasn’t even interested. I was disappointed at seeing that. My heart started beating fast. Had he changed his mind? And what about his $10,000 guarantee? Was that all a ploy to get me here? My mind was reeling from all of the questions.
“Let’s start the bidding at $5,000,” said the announcer. “Do we have any takers for $5,000?”
A paddle went up in the back of the room.
“Alright, $7,000,” said the announcer. “Anyone want to take this beautiful young lady out for $7,000.”
A guy in a ten gallon hat who had been sitting in the front row staring at me hungrily lifted his paddle.
“$10,000. Anyone for $10,000?”
Another paddle went up.
I was excited! It hadn’t taken very long at all for me to get up to the $10,000 that Reid had promised.
But, the auction wasn’t done.
$12,000? Anyone want to take this lovely lady out for a date for $12,000.”
I didn’t expect any paddles to go up, but two did at the same time.
“Oh, it looks like we’ve got some competition,” said the announcer. “It wouldn’t be the first time. So, $15,000. You gentlemen willing to put your money where your mouth is?”
The guy in the front row stood up and so did a guy who was sitting off to the side. The crowd starting cheering when they saw this. I wasn’t exactly sure what was going to happen, but it felt good to see that they were competing for me. This went on for a while with the guys’ paddles going up like they were playing tennis.
“$30,000,” said the announcer. “Which one of you fellas is going to take this lady out for $30,000.”
The guy wearing the ten gallon hat put up his paddle proudly, smiling and staring at me. He tipped his hat. A few guys standing around him started slapping him on his back, congratulating him on winning.
“Can we get $40,000?” asked the announcer. “Anybody willing up put up 40,000 big ones for a date with this beautiful lady?”
A few people fidgeted in their seats, making the chairs squeak across the white linoleum. Other than that, the room went quiet.
$30,000 was more than I’d had at any one time, so I was really excited about the money. A small part of me was disappointed, though, that I would be going out with some random guy, but I figured that I would still try to make the best of it. But, even if I completely hated the date, I would be walking away $30,000 richer. That was definitely nothing to sneeze at.
“$50,000,” came a familiar voice. I looked over to see who had said that. It was Reid. He was standing up with his paddle in his hand, giving me a penetrating look as he waiting for his bid to be accepted. The crowd stirred, some unable to believe that a simple date was going for so much.
“Well, is there anyone who wants to challenge this and go up to, say, $60,000?” Julia called, but even I could hear the doubt in her voice.
Everyone looked at the guy in the ten gallon hat. He fidgeted with his paddle in his hand, looking like he was trying to decide if he should bid or not. He looked up
at me, sighed, and then sat down.
“Sold,” Julia declared. The crowd applauded politely, though I could see more than a few envious glares being directed Reid’s way. He smiled, but his eyes never left mine.
I couldn’t believe what I had just seen. Reid had actually won just like I had wanted him to. More than that, I couldn’t believe that all it took for me to have my dreams come true is to go on a date with a gorgeous guy. I felt like pinching myself to see if I was dreaming. I knew that I wasn’t, though.
What’s the catch here, I caught myself thinking. There had to be one. I just didn’t see it yet.
Just then, Reid and I locked eyes and he didn’t look away. Neither did I. It felt like heat was passing between us from across the room.
As I stood there, pinned down in my place by his gaze, I couldn’t help but think that maybe the catch was that I wouldn’t be able to resist more than just a date with him.
Maybe I would crave more of him.
Chapter Nine - Reid
I knew that with Amelia working in the food industry, I would have to go out of my way to make sure that this date was something that she would think back on fondly. That wasn’t a part of the deal with the auction; it was just something that I personally wanted: for her to be impressed.
So, I pulled out all the stops.
I made a reservation at a local Italian restaurant that boasted an incredible menu, with stellar reviews. I told Amelia that I would pick her up, wanting the date to be as traditional as possible. I drove to the address that she had given me, walked up to the door, and knocked.
A girl with soft red curls answered the door.
“Amelia!” she called behind her. “Your date is here.”
She looked me over from head to toe with deep emerald eyes. I felt like I needed to say something.
“I take it that you’re Candy?” I asked, asking a question that I already knew the answer to just to pass the time.
“Well, duh,” she said, snorting and blowing a lock of hair out of her face. “You must be the tall, dark, and handsome stranger that I’ve heard so much about.”
Before I had a chance to respond, Amelia came around the corner. She was wearing a black and white polka dot dress that fanned out at the waist, complimenting her ample hips. It looked like something you’d see on a vintage pinup. But I was thinking more about pinning her in my bed than on my wall.
“You look stunning,” I breathed, speaking my thoughts aloud.
“Thank you,” she answered, sheepishly.
“Shall we?” I asked, extending an arm in her direction. She grabbed it and we headed to the car. I opened the door for her and waited for her to slide in.
“Nice car,” she said once I got in on the driver’s side.
“Thanks,” I said. “It was a Christmas gift from my folks.”
“Wow, that must be nice,” she said. “No one has gotten me anything nearly as glamorous. The most that I’ve ever gotten was a 14k gold necklace from my parents for my sixteenth birthday. You must have some pretty amazing parents.”
I hadn’t really thought about it that way. It was hard to tell that my parents were amazing with how much my father berated me. But the truth of it was, I knew how deeply my parents cared about me, and I hadn’t done much to return their generosity all these years. “Yeah.”
We drove in silence the rest of the way to the restaurant. It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence, though, just comfortable and relaxed. I took the scenic route, so it gave us a chance to admire the hillsides of our little town. The hills and valleys gave the landscape a lot of character and made it fun to drive. It was almost like being on a rollercoaster every time we would go down a hill. The sun was a hue of red that was almost crimson mixed with a hint of orange. It sleepily sank over the horizon, casting colorful shadows in its wake.
When we got to the restaurant, I could tell that she was impressed from the moment that the valet took our car. She ordered chicken carbonara and I ordered chicken alfredo. The food was plated beautifully, like it was made for pictures to put in magazines or something. When Amelia took her first bite, I had to tuck away a smile. The way she was moaning while she leaned her head back and closed her eyes looked more like she was having sex than eating a meal.
There was a jazz band playing in the corner of the dining room.
“Do you dance?” Amelia asked me, eagerly watching a couple that was sauntering across the floor.
“Not usually,” I said, watching the couple, too.
I saw the disappointment pass over her face and wanted to kick myself. But she was quick to smile again, clearly enjoying herself either way.
Our waiter brought us a new bottle of wine since we had already finished the first one. I thanked him and poured us each a full glass. Amelia took a sip and let out a little moan of appreciation.
“Wow, this is some of the best wine that I’ve ever tasted,” she said, inspecting the cup in her hand. “All of this has been wonderful. It’s like something out of a fairy tale.”
That was like music to my ears.
“I’m glad that you’re enjoying it,” I said.
“I’m just in awe of everything tonight,” she said, waving her hand around the room. “From the food, the wine, the music, the dancing, all of it has just been wonderful. I’m not sure that one little date with me could possibly be worth all of the trouble that you’ve gone through.”
It was my turn to wave my hand in her direction.
“Nonsense,” I said, peering deeply into her blue eyes. “You’re worth it.”
She leaned back in her chair and smiled quietly to herself. I could tell that she was really taking my words to heart. I was glad because I meant every one of them.
The way that she beamed with pride made me think back to the way that her father had berated her in the restaurant. Her face looked completely different then, like she was used to that type of treatment. I wondered if she had ever been treated like she was special. I had a feeling, though, that she hadn’t been given many words of appreciation before. The way that she acted from my simple compliment told me that I was probably right.
The thought bothered me more than I cared to admit. Her beauty alone was more than enough reason for her to be treated like a queen. The fact that no one had taken the time to do that for her made me angry. I was so consumed with this thought that I got slightly distracted from my secret plan to seduce her. I had planned on wining and dining her and getting her all softened up to the point where she wouldn’t be able to resist me at all. But, seeing the way she lit up, I didn’t really care if the plan worked.
All of it made me want to make the night more than special for her, just to see her smile. I wanted her night to be so amazing that she really felt like she was in a dream come true. She was amazing and she deserved such an amazing experience.
“May I have this dance?” I asked, standing in front of her and extending my hand. She stared at my hand and then up at me, her eyes wide in shock.
“I…I can’t,” she stammered. “Someone my size probably shouldn’t be out there dancing around.”
She smoothed her dress down and looked around the room. I could tell that she was getting self-conscious.
“I insist,” I said, grabbing her hand. She stood up and walked around the table to join me. We started dancing to slow, smooth jazz song. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I prided myself on being a fast learner. I mimicked what I saw one of the other guys doing, and when I felt a little more confident, I started improvising a little. Amelia squealed with glee as I dipped her.
“You’re pretty good at this,” she said, trying to catch her breath as the song faded into the next.
“You’re not too bad yourself,” I said lightly. Holding her in my arms felt right. Her supple body was soft in my arms, making me want to pull her in close. So, I did.
“So, why does a guy like you do these auctions?” she asked.
I
paused, a little taken back by her question.
“Do you always speak your mind this freely?” I asked, laughing at her boldness. She blushed, turning her head away from me.
“Well?” she said, squeezing my arm. I felt my dick jump up in my pants and wondered if she felt it, too. I moved away from her a little, not wanting to get too excited.
“Well, what?” I said, shrugging. “I like it. It’s fun.”
“‘I like it”? It’s fun?’” she said, making a face like she was mocking me. “Come on. You’ve got to do better than that. Why would a guy like you bother with these auctions? You’re wealthy and handsome. You could have your pick of women if you wanted to.”
“I don’t know,” I admitted, spinning her around and pulling her in closer so that my mouth was almost pressed against her ear. “Some of it is just for the thrill of it, but, honestly it keeps me from getting to close to anyone. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with that sort of thing. It’s just not for me. I prefer to keep things light and free, you know?”
I looked her in her eyes, thinking for a moment that she was going to kiss me.
“I can understand that,” she said softly. “So, have you ever paid for a date before?”
“No, I haven’t,” I admitted. “I’ve only ever paid for flings and even those were few and far between. The auctions give me the chance to get exactly what I’m looking for, and to… explore new options, if you know what I mean.”
Her face looked serious as she processed my words. I remembered that she had seen a woman getting fucked on stage and realized that she probably thought that I had done something like that.
