Love Grows In The Dark

by Eli Lowe

I could not understand why he was acting like this without any reason at all.

But at last, to my rescue, Summer opened her door in no time, giving me the opportunity to let go of the breath at last which I kept holding till now.

“What are you two doing?” She asked, looking both of us in some tensed up situation right now and I had nothing to say to her as I did not know the reason either.

“Ask him. Cause I don't know what he was trying to do by throwing all those threatening growls at me as if I had done some kind of crime of which I am totally unaware.” I yelled frustratingly but little did I know that my words would be suppressed again with another of his horrifying growl.

“Stop it, Kazan. And you go inside and shift back. Hurry.” Thankfully, Summer made Kazan move from his place at last, and strangely she did not even have to say twice as he went inside without wasting any time like some obedient little body which he was definitely not a while ago...not in front of me at least.

“Were you with him last night, Summer? You should have informed me. Then I did not have to worry about you all night, thinking what happened to you all of a sudden.” I could not help but say cause I was super worried from last night indeed when I saw that she never returned to her home.

“I know, but my phone ran out of power last night. So I could not.” Came her answer as if it was nothing at all.

“And why are you here with him like this? You should not have...” I did not even complete whatever I had started, as I got interrupted by the ferocious voice of Kazan in between my words.

“And who are you to make decisions for her? And the most important thing...what the hell are you doing here early in the morning?” Kazan asked with a scowl on his face just when he came out of the room, wrapping only a towel around his waist.

“What do you mean? Of course, I live with her.” I even dared to say cause I just could not hold myself back to make him even more irritated than he made me a while ago.

But little did I know that I just risked my life without even knowing.

“What did you say?” Kazan came forward, with his hand which was already balled up into a fist while glaring me down furiously as if I was about to turn into ashes right here right now.

“Kazan! Kaith! Stop whatever you two are trying to do.

And Kazan, there is nothing to be angry, cause Kaith lives here indeed but not all the time and he was always the one who stayed by my side in good and bad. He is my best friend, so you have nothing to worry about.

And Kaith, you stop provoking him. Will you?” Summer said, coming in-between both of us and saved me from my doom.

“And Kaith, please give him some of your clothes.” She uttered further.

  “NO.”

“NO!!!” I shouted along with Kazan, surprisingly at the same time just when she finished her words. At least, I and this big bad wolf had agreed on one thing finally.

“Why? Do you want to stay like this?” Summer said raising her brows at Kazan and just then another voice came from my room, making me all aware of what situation was waiting for us next, while the two in front of me stayed confused.

“What is happening here? Kaith?” Jenny came out of my room suddenly.

“Give me the clothes.” Said, Kazan and went inside Summer's room again ever so quickly.

And I did not need to wait any more second as I rushed inside my room as well, taking Jenny along with me, saying,

“Yes, I am bringing it right now.”

I handed Summer the clothes in no time while she did not forget to show me her wicked smile as if I was caught red-handed, doing some kind of crime.

  Tsk.

  Anyways,

  What to do.

I waited for Summer to return back to the sitting area while Jenny kept looking at me with a lot of questions written all over her face.

“So, what's up?” Summer came back in no time with the same wicked grin on her face which was quite irritating for me right now.

“Nothing. We will talk about it later.

But for now, the important thing for you to know is that you should not have stayed out the whole night like this.

Cause Alpha Benjamin asked me about you last night again and you know what... he was already aware that you were out.

And strangely, he was looking not so okay with the fact.” I informed her but she stayed quiet as if she was busy thinking about a lot of things right now.

“Why?” Jenny asked suddenly instead of Summer, cause she too, found no reason behind an alpha's such involvement even though she might not know yet that alpha Benjamin is Summer's uncle as well.

But still, I found it strange too, for some reason which I just could not point out yet.

“I don't know.” And that was what I could answer for now.

  Episode 41

  Kazan's P.O.V

I heard whatever they were talking about, on my way out of Summer's room and I knew that it was time to act on the whole situation which was going on right now, without much of their knowledge. And if I did not do anything now, I knew that I have to regret for the rest of my life, and I did not want that to happen for sure.

So, even when I could not tell the whole thing what I got to know recently, I needed to aware them at least. If not, I could ask for Kaith's help in this. And I believed that it was time for him to know the actual faces of a few people around them.

Yes, I must do something before time runs out of our hands.

“I need to talk to you.” I said just when I made my way out, to join them at the sitting area.

“Okay. What is it, Kazan?” Summer turned around to face me with her curious eyes but how do I tell her that it was not her whom I addressed in the first place. Anyway, I have to...I guess.

“No. Not you. I need to talk to Kaith. Alone.” Just when I uttered, he jumped up from his seat only to find a safe place to hide from me...at least that was what it looked like to me. As if that was even possible.

“No. I have nothing to talk to you. I did nothing bad with your mate who is my best friend too. And also, I do not want to die this early. Do you get that? Summer!!! Tell him that I do not want to talk to him alone.” Kaith said keeping a good distance between us. I did not know before, that my appearance was always this much scary that someone like him could not even help to react like this way.

I sighed as I saw fears in all the other eyes too who were present here right at this instant.

“I would do nothing to you. I promise. And I really have something else to talk to you. You can say that I need your help with something, this time.” I said, keeping myself as calm as possible, so that I do not scare all of them, which I wanted to do the least, right now.

“What is it, Kazan? Is it something important?” Summer asked after some time at last and it seemed that she was quite worried, thinking that I might harm his best friend. But little did she know that I had no intention to lose the only one who could help me in this situation right now.

“Yes, it is. And I promise that I will return your friend without a single scratch on him.” I assured her and turned to see the one whom I needed to talk.

“I am waiting for you inside Summer's room. Do not take long to come, cause I really need to talk to you, Kaith.” With that, I went into the room as quickly as possible.

I kept pacing the room anxiously as I was struggling to decide how much I should tell Kaith right now. And I was worried about the fact as well, that, even if I tell him, there was no assurance that he would believe me over anything.

So, it was really a tough challenge for me to convince him.

I stopped in front of the open window and kept looking outside but soon I had to turn back just when I heard a voice from behind, making it clear to me that Kaith came in, at last.

“What do you want to talk about?” He asked without wasting any time. And neither had I any intention to hide behind words. So I decided to come to the point.

“Yes. As I told you before. I
need your help.” I said.

“How can I help you then?” Kaith seemed quite impatient at this moment. And my condition was no different.

“Tell me. You are Seth's son, right?” I needed to clarify before I began to say whatever I had to, for this time being.

“Yes. But how do you know my father?” He enquired. Truthfully I was not at all surprised with his sudden question as I saw that coming way before, when I asked him about the former beta of Lunar High pack.

“Listen to me carefully, Kaith. Whatever I am going to ask you to do from now on, you can not let anyone get any kind of hint of it, no matter what, not even for a little bit.

Cause if you do that, so many lives would be at stake and we could do nothing at all.

And your father, you, me and even Summer would not be spared, as well. Do you get that?” I tried to make it as much easier as possible for him to understand the risk, but I did not know if he understood me well or not.

“What the hell are you talking about. What is going on? Tell me.” Kaith's voice did not fail to declare that he was so very anxious right now to know what I was talking about and why.

“Well, it is related to Summer. I know that you have been a very good friend to her since the very beginning but I want you to keep on doing the same. I need you to protect her well when I am not around her. At least when she is here, in this pack.

In short, I am asking you to keep your each and every sense open all the time. Especially when it comes to your Alpha Benjamin.

I know that I am asking you to act against the alpha of your pack, but I am sure that if you do so, you will realise soon why I asked you to do that in the first place. So, you do not have to believe just in my words but try to look for yourself all the truths which were hidden since long.

Could you please do that for me?” I requested Kaith. Cause I needed to protect the innocent from the evil. And this time nothing could go wrong.

“Are you trying to say that Summer needs to be protected from her own uncle?” He asked exactly what I was trying to tell him all this while, but I just could not understand what he was thinking right now, as his face stayed unreadable the whole time.

  “Yes.” I replied.

“Okay. I will do that. You did not even have to ask me cause I pledged to protect her from the very beginning as I was always meant to be her beta...though it is unfortunate that she could not be the alpha which she was born for. And to tell you the truth, I was always a bit wary of alpha Benjamin too, but I could not find anything yet.

  Anyway,

You still did not tell me how do you know my father?” Kaith asked at the last of all what he just said.

“Well, when I came to find him, I did not know that Seth was your father as well. But I got to know that eventually.” I replied back to his queries, making myself careful enough to answer just what I needed to.

“What do you mean that you came to find my father? Why were you looking for him?” He asked and I knew that I should say no more than just the answer.

“Well, I was told before to look for someone called Seth, cause he had got everything that I was looking for. So that is it. Anyway, I should go now. Remember what I have asked you to do and do not tell anyone about our conversation today. I will see you soon.

And yes, watch out for Adrian. He has been coming to see your Alpha too often nowadays.” With that, I went out of the room to see Summer before I leave.

  Summer's P.O.V

“What did Kazan tell you today? Is it something serious?” I asked Kaith while we made our way to the school entrance.

“Yes, it is, Sam. He asked me to look after you when he is not around. As if I was doing something else when he was not there before. Tsk.” Came his reply along with his ever so irritating smirk.

“Anyway, what are your plans for today?” He uttered right after when we reached our lockers to get the books for our classes.

“Same. School, work, home. Why?” I asked casually.

“Just because, I wanted to know. Okay, see you then.” Just when the bell went off Kaith left for his class and I had to go to mine.

But still, I was curious thinking, if that was all that Kazan asked Kaith this morning. And again, I was also worried about whatever uncle Benjamin had asked me to do. There was no doubt that I was indeed worried to figure out how to get to the truth about what actually had happened in the past. There were so many things left to solve yet, and I did not know where to start.

My mind was busy thinking about all the newly occurred turmoils which kept bothering me lately, just when another one appeared out of nowhere only to engulf me with even more difficulties from which I might need to struggle hard to break free.

Cause I already forgot about Markus and his confessions.

“Hey, Summer.” Markus greeted me with a million-dollar smile just when I entered the classroom.

“Hi.” I went to sit down on the last seat left for me which was exactly next to Markus. I had no other option to sit elsewhere cause the class was full already.

“So, did you think about what I had asked you yesterday?” He whispered coming a bit closer to me.

“About what?” I enquired as I was so involved with the other things right now that I had totally forgotten about whatever he asked me before at the library.

“A date, Summer. Will you come with me?” He asked again, ever so desperately.

“Look, Markus, I know that there is some kind of bond between you and me but that is only because of Kazan. But I think...” I could not even finish my words as the teacher came in no time, and once again I could not say 'no' to him properly, which I should have said way before.

The classes went on, depriving me of the chances to let Markus know that I was not at all intended to go on a date with him, neither I was willing to give rise to any kind of feelings for him.

But little did I know that not being able to tell Markus 'no' would lead me to another great misery in the coming time.

Little did I know that it would cause me to lose the only good thing which had happened to me at last.

Cause something happened without much of my wish and I was accused of betrayal for what I never did willingly.

Let me tell you what happened exactly.

At the lunch hour, I was going towards the canteen when I became surrounded by the same group of girls which usually keep lingering on Markus since the beginning. Yes, Lizzie and her friends.

“Well well. It seems that you are not at all satisfied enough after climbing on a few beds till now, so you are now aiming for my Markus?” Lizzie's nasal voice did not fail to disgust me completely to the extreme that I even wanted to puke.

“Your Markus? Then go get what is yours. Who is stopping you?” I said as I was least interested to argue with them over something stupid cause.

“Yes, he is mine. And I will make sure that you never forget that ever, you bitch.” She said ever so viciously, and I knew in no time that I had to deal with whatever she came with today.

But shockingly, I did not have to. Cause a ferocious growl came from behind in no time along with the very familiar smell for me.

“I was never yours, neither will I ever be and there is no doubt in that. But if anyone, Summer could obviously claim me as hers, cause she has the right to do so.” And with that, my lips got sealed with some unfamiliar lips all of a sudden, in front of everyone. I was so shocked that I could not even dodge myself in time but I did push him away just when I realised what was happening right now.

But it seemed that I was too late.

Cause it did not take time for me to find another pair of blue eyes which was watching us from a little distance right now.

Yes, Kazan who was rushing towards me before, stopped in his tracks with no intention to take a single step towards me any further.

  Episode 42

  Summer's P.O.V

“Kazan!!!!” I called him as loudly as I could but it seemed that he had no intention to listen to me at a
ll.

The only thing what he did after seeing me suddenly kissed by his own brother Markus, was that he turned back and left without giving me any chance to clarify exactly what happened, neither did he bother to ask anything about it.

“Kazan!!! Wait.” I screamed and was about to run after him, so that I could clear out everything about what he just witnessed, but I could not. Cause a slender hand pulled me back from doing so. And I did not need to wait for any longer to find out, whose hand it was.

Yes, that slut, Lizzie stopped me only to say,

“Oh! Look at you. How easy it is for you to move on from one man to another. You are so damn fast, you little whore.” She scoffed at me while her disgusting gaze did not move away from me, neither did her stinky hand.

No, I did not do anything yet to answer her back, in the exact way that she could understand, cause I just wanted to see how far she could go. I wanted to know how audacious she could be. But, to my surprise, someone else growled ever so ferociously, shaking the earth beneath and making everyone stop at once only to watch our little show which was going on here right now.

“How dare you? Who are you calling a whore? I dare you to say that again.” Markus roared in utter anger, causing Lizzie to shiver in the utmost fear. Her hand which was gripping me by my wrist tightly till now, started to tremble too, but she absolutely forgot to let go of me as there was no doubt that she froze completely, with just one ferocious growl from Markus.

I turned to look at Markus finally.

But he did not seem the polite Markus any more, cause his eyes became all red as he was already fuming in the ultimate anger. His hand was already balled up into a tight fist, turning all the knuckles completely white, while he kept clenching his teeth ever so viciously, as if Lizzie was about to burn down into ashes by his blazing gaze in no time only if she dares to say further.

  What was he angry for?

When it was him who caused such a situation like this right now, with his one unthoughtful move.
