Love Grows In The Dark Page 44

by Eli Lowe

But also, the fact that it might endanger Jenny at the same time, did not lessen my worries at all, not even for a little bit. Even though I was absolutely reluctant to involve Jenny in my mess, I had no other choices except the only idea that seemed good to us for now.

And we just could not afford to waste any further time to come up with yet another better plan than this one. So, I had to agree at last.

Without waiting for any more time, Kaith and Jenny rushed to my place to do whatever I had asked them to do while I was left alone once again to face the one whom I despise the most.

Cause, even though my hands were itching to rip the head off from Benjamin's body, I needed to hold myself together only to wait for the right time. So, I headed straight towards the pack-house, preparing myself to experience something terrible already.

And I was not wrong at all.

Anyway, finding that everything was going according to my plan, I thought that it would be better if I make a call to check on all of them, cause I must not deny the fact that I was really worried right now.

So, without thinking much, I took out my phone and called Kaith, expecting that he would pick up my call at any time soon.

  But no.

  Nothing as such happened.

The phone kept ringing, but there was no one on the other side to pick up the call, and thus the call ended soon after quite a few rings.

  What the hell just happened?

My heart skipped a beat in some kind of weird feelings or it might be my fears as well, which freaked me out without any doubt.

I dialled his number once again, hoping that he might answer this time but it seemed that nothing like such was meant to happen now.

  What should I do?

What if they all got caught? What if something bad had happened to them all, about which I was worried the most since the very morning?

I just could not think of any way out to find what exactly was going on. So, again I lifted up my phone but this time I called Jenny, in case she picks up.

  And she did.

“Where are you all? Are you fine? I was trying to call Kaith but he did not pick up my call, Jenny. So, tell me...” As soon as she picked up the call, I kept asking her questions all at once without bothering to let go of the breath that I was holding in till now, without much of my awareness.

I did not even realise, how in such a small span of time, little beads of sweats had already started to come up on my forehead as well due to the sudden anxiety that engulfed my mind just a while ago.

“Yes, we are fine, Sam. In fact, Kaith brought both me and Jacob at my place safely and then he went out to find you once again. He said that you might need him. Did he not pick up your call?” Jenny might have felt how much worried I became as she interrupted me in-between my words only to answer to all my questions as quickly as possible, without keeping me waiting for long.

But what did she just say?

Kaith was not with them anymore?

Then, who is going to protect them if anything goes wrong?

And where the hell is he now? And why is he not picking up the call?

I found even more reasons to worry the hell out of my mind, just when I just could not understand what exactly Kaith wants to do, when I remember that I had clearly said him to stay with the other two all the time so that he could protect them better. Then what now?

“No, he is not picking up. That was why I freaked out. Anyway, do not worry. I am going to find him myself. And yes, please remember very clearly...do not go out anywhere, at least for today. And if anything seems uncanny to you, call me right away without a delay. Do you get that?” I said in order to keep her aware of the danger which was yet to come. But, even though I was still quite worried about Kaith, I decided not to say further or I might end up making Jenny worried about him for no reason at all. So, I thought of looking into the matter right after the call.

“Yes, Sam. Do not worry.” Jenny reassured and only then I could hang up the phone with a little bit of relief in my heart, thinking that at least Jenny and Jacob are out of the mess right now. Which means, now I have only Kaith to look for.

So, without wasting much time, I rushed out of my house once again, without bothering much about what I came here at the very first place.

But little did I know that I was going to witness the most unexpected thing in no time, just when I came out of my house.

Cause I did not have to run here and there in order to find out Kaith, as he was standing just in front of my eyes. But this time for some reason he was already in his wolf form, which was quite unlikely of him.

If I look carefully, Kaith was not at all looking at my way either, as his eyes were fixed on something else, which was definitely making him furious all of a sudden.

  What is it, Kaith?

To know why was he behaving as such, I followed his eye-sight and that was exactly when I realised what was happening here. My mind kept tangling and detangling on its own as I became completely stupefied, seeing that it was not just me who came up with a plan to take down that vicious Benjamin, cause there was certainly another one.

And right now he was standing just before my eyes, within a few meters of distance from where I was standing right now. But it seemed that he did not come to look for me this time as he was aiming to go to the pack-house and that too all alone and unarmed.

How foolish could you be Kazan?

You should not have come here alone, not at least today.

  Summer's P.O.V

  ****flashback continues****

Seeing that Kazan was already standing on the ground of our pack Lunar High, when I had been expecting the least to meet him again this soon. And I had enough reason to get panicked for the slightest moment without any doubt.

It seemed that he could act even faster than my assumptions or if not Kazan would not be standing like this in front of me right now. And that too, all alone... without anyone by his side to protect him from the claws of all the hungry wolves of our pack. How was he not scared even for a little bit after what happened last night?

How proud could he be that he even did not think twice before rushing to our pack all on his own, unarmed?

Indeed, I have never seen such a fearless soul as my mate. Kazan is really something else, I must say.

Not a single trace of fear was seen on his face while he was standing as the inevitable and the strongest alpha of all, whose aura was beyond my expectations.

As if the fear of death just could not even dare to touch him, not even by any kind of mistake.

Yes, being an alpha and that too one of the most powerful one at such a young age, his appearance was indeed something to be worried of, for the rest of the members of our pack, even though he was standing alone.

So, I had no other choice left except stepping forward only to go and stand in front of him, without giving out any kind of hint to others about what I had already planned to do.

Kaith, with his huge wolf body, followed me closely from behind, declaring the fact that he had no intention to let me face any kind of situation all on my own, even when he knows all about my intentions now.

Just before I was about to approach him, I saw that Kazan pulled one of the members of our Lunar High pack by his collar ever so viciously, whoever was nearer to him at the time, only to spell out the very words in his deep and frightening voice,

“Go and tell your alpha, that Alpha Kazan from the Blood Bay pack has come all alone, to have a small talk, right now.” With that Kazan loosened his threatening grip on the man who was already trembling under his deathly gaze. He shoved the man forcefully in no time so that he could rush to his alpha to inform about Alpha Kazan's arrival all of a sudden. But it seemed that Kazan's ferocious side was too much to handle for the man, as he fell on the ground in fear only to crawl with his trembling body in order to get away from the life-threatening aura of the alpha of t
he Blood Bay pack.

Yes, by the time when Kazan arrived, most of the members of our pack had already gathered around the area with such horrifying expression on all of their faces.

  Why?

Well, because they were not at all unaware of the capabilities of alpha Kazan from the Blood Bay pack at all, as they all were present and had seen the vicious fight when he came to our pack to fight with me once.

They saw exactly what he did to me that day.

Yes, even after being the strongest and the most skilled one among them all, Kazan defeated me without any effort and that too by slashing my entire body with innumerable cuts, tainting my entire body with my own blood, without any mercy.

Or did he actually show mercy that day and even after that no one failed to see what was my condition then?

So, it was obvious for them to be afraid of, after such an encounter with the very same Alpha once again, realising what kind of disaster was going to happen next, in any time soon.

Just when I came to stand in front of Kazan, I noticed that the man who was crawling on the ground with the utmost horror, just a while ago, now stood up anyhow only to rush inside the pack-house to give the news of the newly raised situation for our Lunar High Pack.

“What made you think that you should come all alone?” I asked keeping my eyes as stern as ever, only to observe each and every single movement of the one who was now standing before me with his head held high. But quite strangely, there was no trace of any kind of fear, or regret or anything at all right at this moment.

“What made you think that I will need an entire army to take the rat out of his hole?” Kazan replied, but this time I could see no worries in those alluring blue eyes. There was just the deep-seated thirst to take his revenge and nothing else.

“What if, you find that it is not that easy as you think it is...whatever you have come here for, today.” I retorted back right after.

“Why? Who is there to stop me from doing whatever I have come here for? Is there anyone courageous enough to stand before me to have a fight?” Kazan's horrifying growl was enough to know how anxious he was to taint his hands with the blood of the one who was always the reason for both our miseries.

“What if I say that you need to fight with me first and if you want to take Benjamin, you have to take me down to do so?” I asked all of a sudden, in case the members of Lunar High think that I was the one who conspired to destroy my own pack, when neither of them was even aware of the truth, as none of them might have seen the real face of Benjamin yet. So, I had to play safe until I could reveal everything about the past before all of them.

But, Kazan who was totally unaware of what I was planning to do, became furious just when he heard what exactly I just said. His face turned pale while his eyes became red in the utmost rage.

Even when I could clearly see that Kazan was not taking the thing lightly when I talked about fighting me, I had no choice to ease him with the truth for the time being.

And he was not at fault either, cause, in this kind of situation, even I might have reacted in such a way.

“What did you just say?” Kazan's voice boomed throughout the surrounding, creating a whole new horrifying atmosphere around us all.

For the slightest moment, everything became absolutely quiet as if it was just a warning before the upcoming storm at any time soon. Kaith growled from behind as he stayed by my side all this while, but seeing Kazan's frightening aura, even he might have sensed that something bad was about to happen. Even though he was sure enough that Kazan was the last one who would harm me ever, Kaith just could not afford to take a chance and prepared himself for anything and everything in order to keep me and my pup safe at any cost, even from Kazan if needed.

The sudden silence seemed malicious as my heart never stopped beating even for once, anticipating the next.

And only then, another voice rumbled from behind, declaring the end of our wait, just when Benjamin came out of the pack-house at last, along with the one who went to give him the message of Kazan's sudden arrival.

“She said, you have to take her down first if you want to get to me.”

It was the moment, when I knew what was going to happen next. But I needed more time to bring someone else here, if I wanted to show Benjamin's real face to everyone.

“Take them here. You know what to do. Right now Kaith” I whispered to Kaith but it seemed that he had no intention to dodge from his place, not even for a bit, even when he clearly heard what I just asked him to do.

Why is he acting like this now? I just can not do anything if they do not come here. And for that Kaith have to go as fast as he could to bring them here.

Then why is he not moving?

If he keeps doing this, I might have to actually have to fight with Kazan to buy some more time, which I did not want to do at all.

Seeing that the situation is not turning in any better direction, my heart-beat kept increasing with each passing second.

Right at this moment, Benjamin's face seemed like some serpent, who did not even feel any shame to bait his niece only to save himself first.

The vicious smirk started to appear on his face once again, declaring the fact that he feels more than satisfied to see me standing against my own mate, who would never dare to harm me, at any cost.

  But, he knows nothing.

He was proving himself nothing but a big fool as he had absolutely no idea what was going to happen with him next.

While I was still trying to figure out how I was going to convince Kaith that I will be safe and he needs to hurry before it is too late, Kazan moved to grab Benjamin, in a flash of a second, just before my eyes.

Kaith's desperate howl shook the entire place, making me cautious all of a sudden.

Or was he doing something else?

  I did not know.

But the thing I knew that, I had no other options left except meddling in only to stop Kazan from ruining my plan.

“No, I have nothing to do with her, you prick. I want you to answer me first.” Kazan roared ferociously and stepped forward to reach Benjamin's neck with his bare hands so that he could strangle him to death. But, it was not time yet, for his miseries.

Taking the swords from the hand of one of the warriors of our Lunar High pack, I stepped in-between Benjamin and Kazan, pointing the vicious tip of my blade at Kazan, but only to threaten him to stop moving ahead, even for a little bit.

“Move.” Kazan's frustrated growl could not make me dodge from my place as I kept holding my sword up while I threw the other one at Kazan for him to grab, so that he could fight me being equally equipped.

“No.” That was what I said, without bothering to explain myself right at this moment.

Seeing both of us standing against each other, Benjamin gave out the cruellest laughter which indeed resonated all over the surrounding ever so menacingly.

“Where is He?” Turning his gaze away from me, Kazan screamed at Benjamin, with all his might. And it did not take much time for me to realise whom he was talking about.

“He? Who is he?” Benjamin still acted all innocent, even when he was very aware of Kazan's words. The smirk which was there a while ago on his face, now vanished completely, leaving him only to be entangled with tremendous fear, seeing himself already at the verge of being exposed before everyone. It was just that he had no nerve to say anything about him right now as I had already moved the one from Benjamin's vicious claws without leaving any clue behind.

“You know very well what I am talking about. Don't you? You really know how to act all innocent when you are the exact opposite. This mask of your fake innocence that you always use to hide your sinful face behind, is not going to last long, as I will make sure of that.

But for now, I want Jacob back, safe and sound, or else I can promise you that none of you will stay alive to live for another day.” Kazan's horrifying growl shook Benjamin and no one failed to see how the so-called alpha of our Lunar High was turning pal
e with each passing second.

But the show just started, as there were so many things for him to face yet.

  Episode 74

  Summer's P.O.V

  ****flashback continues****

“Why are you still standing. Did you not tell me that you will take care of him along with his pack way before, so that I would never have to get troubled with such a situation like this? Then what the hell is he doing here right now? Why did you do nothing when I had clearly told you to demolish the entire pack and to do so, I even allowed you to take my army. Then can you tell me what exactly is bothering you from cutting down the head from his body now?

Or is it right, that you have already changed your mind?” Benjamin's words came out of his throat as if he was exhaling fire.

What else was now left for him to do when he could already see himself at the verge of being exposed and that too before everyone. He might have also felt that the mask that he always used to wear was going to be ripped down at any time soon, if he does not do anything fast. And that was why he chose to push me forward to face the consequences alone, so that he could use me as a shield for his own sake.

How more selfish he was going to prove himself?

  Never mind.

Cause I wanted to let him feel for the last time that he still had chances to save himself, even though nothing was going to happen like that.

Even though Kaith's suppressed growl did not reach anyone's ear but I was very aware that he was still on guard and his anxiety even increased after what just Benjamin said maliciously. It looked like he was ready to pounce on his own alpha if he dares to say further after all that he did to us.

“Do not worry. I am not going to disappoint you, my dear uncle, Benjamin.” I replied, putting a devilish smirk on my face but I wondered if anyone could notice my intention yet or not. But, even if no one bothered to notice anything about me, I knew very well that I will not be able to escape those alluring blue eyes which were fixed on me even now, with no intention to turn any other way.
