Love Grows In The Dark Page 45

by Eli Lowe

This time something different was in them. As if he was already broken from inside...as he was witnessing some kind of betrayal which he had never expected, I assume.

  But only if he knew.

From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Seth, who was trying to sneak away from the recent situation that had raised on our pack ground right at this moment.

And I knew exactly what was he planning to do at such a crucial time, cause I believe he and his son Kaith was very aware of my plan now. I also realised that if Kaith had already decided to stay by my side during the fight, that means he had already made his father aware of what he has to do on behalf of him, and instead of Kaith, Seth will carry on with the task to take them here within time.

So, now I can rest assured that nothing will go wrong this time.

Even though I knew that everything, for the time being, is just an act of pretending for a better cause, somehow the look on Kazan's eyes were killing me from inside as he did not say a single word after listening to whatever I uttered the last. As if he still could not believe that I just agreed with my uncle to kill my own mate.

You are a big fool, Kazan.

  Tsk.

Seeing that now it would not take long to reveal the entire truth after everyone gets here, I decided to put on another act of fighting with Kazan, cause I needed to buy time for Seth, at least until he arrives here.

“Are you afraid now?” I asked rudely, while I did not forget to pretend as if I was really going to rip Kazan's head off of his body with the vicious sword which was already in my hand and at its point, there was standing Kazan. Although he was still holding the sword that I gave him just a while ago, he seemed absolutely reluctant to lift it up only to begin the fight.

“Yes.” He replied in short while his eyes never left mine during all this while.

“Do not worry, I will make sure that you do not have to feel much pain. I will be fast enough to do what I am supposed to do.” I replied, attempting not to give any kind of hint to anyone about what exactly I was talking about right now.

But whatever my words sounded to others, it seemed that Benjamin got impressed a lot thinking that at last his problems were going to be resolved without him doing any kind of effort.

“I am not afraid to die, but...” Kazan chose to reply all of a sudden, taking me absolutely off guard and pulled me close to him by my arms with just one single move, only to whisper into my ears, “ I am afraid that if I am gone, then I might not be able to protect both of you anymore.”

His words made me absolutely stupefied for the slightest moment. My heart started to race even faster, but I needed to come back to my right mind, no matter how weak his words were making me right at this moment without anyone's clue.

I shoved the chest of Kazan with all my strength and gripped the sword tightly in an instant, whereas Kazan too stepped back a little bit only to stand in a defensive position, making himself all ready to initiate the fight between us once again, even if he had to do that against his own will.

No one dared to make any noise even when the whole crowd was present there, and Benjamin?

Well, he gave out a cruel laugh of satisfaction, seeing us mates fighting against each other only to kill one another. At least, that was what he thought.

Kaith's ferocious growl resonated throughout the entire surrounding just when our swords met, making the treacherous clanking noise of the metals crashing. Even the noise of our swords cutting the thin air in between while moving forward, appeared the most threatening right at this moment.

Even though Kazan was not at all giving his all, neither was I, the fight was not just a mere combat between the two opposition, cause it was necessary to hold Benjamin back till the last moment.

But little did I expected that someone else was going to come to join us at any time soon.

“What would you get if you fight with someone who is not an alpha at all?” The very familiar voice roared from the other side of the ground, shaking the earth beneath us which indeed made both me and Kazan stop our fight at once, cause we were just waiting for one single interruption to do so, and here he came.

Markus was standing with a furious expression on his face that I have never seen before. This way, both Kazan and Markus kind of looking alike, but I knew it was not the case at most of the time.

The whole crowd who was watching our fight till now, turned to see Markus, who had already started to approach us deliberately. And it seemed that Markus's presence or his words, either of it might have made Benjamin even angrier than ever.

“What exactly are you trying to say?” One of the men of Benjamin's army who were always standing with the crowd since the very beginning, came forward in order to stop Markus from taking another step ahead towards Benjamin, only to protect his alpha from the possible danger.

“I did not say anything difficult to understand, I believe. I said an alpha must not hide behind any trivial warrior. He should know how to face the alphas of another pack with his head-on.” Markus's words kind of ignited an enormous blaze on Benjamin, who indeed became furious to see that someone was even daring to challenge his powers and strengths. Which he was not going to take lightly.

“Then what do you suggest? Do you want to fight with me?

Oh! I forgot that you are not an alpha yet.” At last, Benjamin cared to reply but his words were only the representation of his mental state right now. Yes, unknowingly but indeed he was becoming manipulated to come down to fight when it was sure enough that his anxiety and impatience will never let him win, no matter how.

“Who told you that I am going to fight with you.

  No.

Kazan alone is enough to take you down, and you will be lying on the dirt within seconds, you know.” This was how Markus kept provoking so-called alpha Benjamin intentionally, but only if he was in his right mind to understand.

And as a result, out of the sudden impulse, Benjamin did exactly what Markus wanted and also which he should never have done if he wanted to avoid the later consequences.

But shoving the man aside who was still standing on guard to protect his alpha, Benjamin snatched the sword from my hand within seconds only to stand before Kazan to prove that no one was born to defeat him yet.

I could not help but sneer in my head, seeing such a foolish act of our alpha of the Lunar High who never ever deserved to be called one.

And I was assured enough that Benjamin was not even capable to make a scratch on Kazan. The only thing I kept worrying about was that, his army of wolves kept coming one by one to be posted on guard, as if they were ready to kill the enemy if anything happens to their alpha, which is not good at all.

Cause, even until now, none of them knew the true face of Benjamin and also when I did not get to prove his sins yet, it was obvious that all of them will only listen to their alpha Benjamin. And I was afraid, if Benjamin orders them to attack when we are very few in number against the innumerable. How will we suppose to make everything right like this?

Kaith with his huge body came to stand by my side once again, while Benjamin took the first strike with all his strength but only to land on the dirty ground ever so miserably. Cause just when he moved his sword to cut through Kazan, Kazan dodged swiftly and kicked on his chest with such an immense force that even the treacherous sounds of bones cracking did not fail to fall on our ears, let alone the fact that Benjamin's body flew a great distance only to crash the ground with a horrifying sound.

It looked like that Benjamin was not going to accept his defeat this soon, as he stood up once again even though he was already looking so miserable with blood on his face.

But Kazan just did not let Benjamin strike him for another time as he threw his own sword only to grab Benjamin with his own bare hands, caring the least about the fact that Benjamin was still armed.

At this moment, nothing was able to stop Kazan as if something else got into his mind. Except for Benjamin, it appeared that he could see no one around him
, as he kept punching his face with his inevitable fist, with no intention to stop.

“Where are you hiding Jacob for five long years, you murderer?” Kazan's roar kept booming the entire surrounding while he did not at all let his grip loose on Benjamin and kept punching his face without any mercy.

Seeing Benjamin was getting beaten up by Kazan, now his army was not at all intended to keep standing without doing anything, as they had already started to charge at Kazan in order to kill him if needed to bring back their alpha safe and sound.

And I knew exactly what I needed to do.

Snatching the swords from the others, I threw one at Markus in an instant, even before any of them could realise what exactly was happening right now, while I made sure to hold on to my sword tightly.

  Episode 75

  Summer's P.O.V

  ****flashback continues****

“It is not nice to interrupt in-between someone else's conversation. Isn't it? What do you think about it, Markus?” I uttered right away mockingly, seeing that the army of the Lunar High was still approaching towards us to rescue their Alpha Benjamin from the brutality of Kazan who kept beating him up as if he was nothing in front of the Alpha of the Blood Bay Pack. Without wasting any more time, I stepped forward only to block their way, letting Kazan do whatever he was busy with right now. Putting a smirk on my face, I dragged the sword on the ground with the determination to cut the head down of anyone and everyone whoever dares to attack us right at this moment, even though I wished that I do not have to do such a thing with the people of Lunar High, at least not when they were completely unaware of actually why we were behind Benjamin.

The sharp tip of my metallic blade warned the men of alpha Benjamin, making some malicious noise each time when it came into contact with the earth, which indeed convinced them how I might turn into the possible threat for them if they did not decide to stop any time soon.

“Actually, it is even rude to try to save someone who had committed some unforgivable crimes, and got away without paying for his sin.” Gritting his teeth furiously, Markus announced all of a sudden and came forth, guarding both of me and Kazan, while he made sure to hold on to the sword tightly only to stay prepared to start the blood bath in any time soon, if needed.

But I did not want that. Cause there was no use in killing those who were also the victim of some lies.

  They were innocent, I believe.

It was just that, Benjamin manipulated their minds with the lies since the very beginning and that was why they always behaved in such a way.

That was why I always planned to unveil the real face of Benjamin only to bring the truth before them. As I believed, no one would stay by his side any further after getting to know what crime he had committed in the past and not only betrayed the real alpha and luna of the Lunar High but also the pack members along with me. It was just that I needed the proves against him and someone to testify.

And now that I already have them all, it is just a matter of time, before they would get to see how I was going to make Benjamin blurt out the truth through his own nasty mouth.

But for that, I have to wait for someone else to come and till then I must hold them back from acting against us and if they do I might have to do stop them anyhow, by hook or crook.

Still, even when I was all ready to buy some time for Kazan, I just can not deny that they were so many in numbers respect to us four. And it was really hard to hold them back for long.

The menacing sounds of heavy beatings and bones cracking kept coming to all our ears as the whole surrounding was already shaking with the deathly screams of Benjamin, making it very clear to all of us that Kazan had no intention to go easy on him, at least not when he got Benjamin in his hands, at last.

During all this while, I was just hoping that the men of Lunar High do not start to attack us before Seth comes back along with them.

And just when the thought crossed my mind, Kaith's desperate howls made us all turn to another way only to find the reason for his sudden anxiety.

No one noticed, that a menacing smirk appeared on Markus's face, unconsciously, just when all of us found that the entire ground of the pack Lunar High was already surrounded by an innumerable number of wolves all of a sudden.

It was not difficult at all to tell that they were the army of another pack by their size and ferocious appearance.

“Did you really think that Kazan will come alone even when he owns one of the largest armies among all the packs? And even if he proves himself stupid enough to do so, did you believe that I will let him do such a silly thing?” Markus uttered, pulling me out of my trance.

Seeing that the warriors of the Blood Bay had come to our pack in time, I felt a bit relieved, but strangely they were just standing still at their places as if they all were waiting for their alpha's orders.

On the other hand, the pack members of the Lunar High did not dare to act any further, finding that the entire Blood Bay pack had come at their alpha's help. It did not take much effort for them to realise that, without alpha's order, if they try to attack Kazan they will surely have to deal with his entire pack now, which will not be of any good.

“I guess, you all are clever enough to understand the situation right now. So, I think it would be better to let the Alpha's of two packs solve the matter on their own. What do you say?” Markus remarked all of a sudden, as none of the men dared to say any further.

Everything happened so soon that even I could not realise what exactly was happening. Cause I had never thought that Kazan too might have some plan to make Benjamin suffer for his sins.

Anyway, whatever he did, was even better.

Even though Kazan's entire army was there at our protection, I just could not afford to stay off guard, as there were so many things to clear out, yet.

The surrounding was becoming gloomy, as the wind had already stopped blowing, for the time being, making the whole place seem entirely frightened by the brutality of the alpha of Blood Bay Pack.

  And Benjamin?

Well, he did not even get a single chance yet, to make a tiny little scratch on Kazan.

Seeing such a vicious sight before our eyes, all our hearts did not stop thumping ever so loudly, not even for a single second, as we all kept waiting to hear something unexpected any time soon.

“Tell me, where are you keeping Jacob? You brute.

Tell them all what you did to me? To out pack?

Tell them all why exactly I am beating you up like this today?

I dare you.” Kazan's terrifying voice kept booming through the whole surrounding, while Benjamin was in no condition to reply any more.

Another punch fell on Benjamin's face while Kazan made sure not to let him go this easily, as he kept holding the already devasted Benjamin with just one hand.

“What do you mean?” One of the pack members of Lunar High could not hold himself back and end up asking loudly, out of all his curiosity.

But it seemed that Kazan was barely in the right mind to answer as he kept going on with his violent act.

“Do you still have the rose tattoo on your shoulder?” Kazan asked out loud all of a sudden, while he stopped punching him at last. But it seemed that he only stopped to do something even worse to him.

Within just a flash of a second, Kazan grabbed the piece of the shirt on Benjamin's body and ripped it without much effort, revealing the bare shoulder of Benjamin in front of us all, while no one failed to see that the crimson coloured rose was indeed tattooed on his shoulder, exactly how Kazan narrated at first even before showing us all.

Realising that how someone from yet another pack knew about such a trivial thing when no one else from our pack, was aware of the tattoo even when they always stayed close to their alpha, everyone became stupefied without any doubt.

It was not just them who were extremely shocked, cause Benjamin's condition was no different either.

  “How...?” Indeed,
Benjamin got frightened after what he just heard from Kazan and tried to ask even when he was still struggling to say one single word.

  “How?

  How???

Well, I always knew what exactly you did.

And this rose tattoo of yours, never let me sleep from a very young age.

Cause every night, whenever I tried to sleep thinking that I might get over the trauma, at last, everything appeared once again before my eyes as the nightmare every single night for more than a decade now.

Do you still need me to say further to help you remember what exactly you had done years ago for which you have to face today?

No, I am wrong this time.

You did not stop there only. You did something even worse.

So, you better tell me where is Jacob? Or I am surely going to make you suffer that you will beg me to bless you with a death sentence.” With that Kazan threw Benjamin's deformed body up in the air only to slam him again hard down on the ground, breaking a lot of bones on his body altogether. Benjamin could not even scream out of tremendous pain, when Kazan got on his body and strangled him in-between his legs and made it absolutely impossible for Benjamin to get out of Kazan's hold, no matter how much he tried to.

“I do not know any Jacob.” Benjamin stammered, totally unaware of what was lingering on his destiny if he dares to manipulate the truth once again.

I just could not believe how he still had the nerve to lie. It was another thing, that he did not have Jacob any more, but how could he lie about knowing him after all these years.

Even when the blood boiled, I held it all in for the time being, and waited for them to come soon.

I looked around and without much of my expectations, I found that every single member of the pack Lunar High was completely shocked, hearing such things about the one whom they always considered their rightful alpha for their pack after my dad.
