I became impatient.
“Did you not tell me just now, that she was treated and will be fine when she wakes up? Then what is it now?” I asked in an instant, seeing that Kazan did not answer me earlier.
“Yes, she will be fine when she wakes up. But I am afraid, something is indeed going to be changed about her, which doctor could do nothing at any cost, cause her injury was indeed severe.” Kazan informed, keeping his gaze fixed on me.
As if my heart stopped beating, for the time being, hearing what just Kazan said.
“What is it?” I could not ask more except just one question, and waited to hear something bad at any moment, no matter how hard it started to become for me.
“The doctor, who did the surgery on Jenny, said that the cut on her throat was deep and it had already affected the tissues around the area. As Jenny was brought just in time, they managed to save her from dying, by preventing the blood from entering the airway. But he said that her vocal cord was badly damaged, and they could not do anything about it.
So, that means....” After informing all these, Kazan stopped at the last sentence, as he was hesitating to finish the rest.
Tremendous pain had already started to fill my heart, that it might have started to reflect in my eyes as well, making me completely unable to hide it, neither did I care to do so. And Kazan was feeling no different either right at that moment, as I could clearly see how hard he was struggling to finish his words.
“That means?” Even though I was extremely afraid and was already broken from inside, I wanted to hear all that he had to say.
Kazan took a deep breath in and said,
“That means, she will become mute from now on.” Finally, he said it. And I had to hear it, without being able to do anything to help her out.
I slid down to sit on the ground, as my mind my body and every single thing had finally stopped working.
I felt that, even though I could finally turn the wheel of destiny for me by exposing Benjamin, I was still helpless and miserable as ever.
Even though I was unfortunate before, it was even better than this, cause then I was the only one prey in the hands of fate.
But now, how can I accept, seeing that in order to make my life easy and get back the rights that I once had lost, I dragged all those down in the deep dark pit with me, whom I adore with all my life.
I felt like I have really lost this time.
And for that, I had to pay a huge penalty.
“Summer. I know what are you feeling right now but you can see it this way that Jenny will be alive and will be with us forever, even when she will never be able to talk anymore. Think for once, if we could not get to save her, what Kaith would do?
At least, Kaith did not have to lose his mate. They will be fine. Trust me.
Everything will be okay.
We just need some time to accept the reality.
So, be strong. Could you do that for your friends, Summer?” Kazan kept trying his best to make me understand and kept coaxing me when I was becoming really vulnerable.
“Yes. I can.” Even when I could not stop my tears, I knew that whatever Kazan just said was the best thing I could do now.
He is right.
I stood up from the floor in an instant and wiped my tears right away.
“Where is Kaith?” I asked at last, as I did not see him anywhere since when we had arrived at the pack hospital.
“He went in to stay by Jenny's side.” Kazan informed.
“But he did not shift back yet. Would he not make trouble for her, when he is still this huge with his wolf body?” I asked, being absolutely concerned.
“I know. But do not worry. She is his mate. And he knows exactly how to look after him, at least now when he is finally in his stable mind. Let them be with each other for now.” Kazan assured and pulled me into his warm embrace once again.
“And let me take care of you two.” He uttered right away.
“Does Kaith know that she... she will not be able to...” I could not even dare finish my words, as I kept stuttering out of anxiety.
“Yes. He knows.” Kazan understood what I was trying to say and answered without waiting for me to complete my words.
“Okay, that is enough for now. Tell me, did you eat anything or do you want to starve both my mate and my pup?” Kazan asked once again, pulling me out of his hug.
“No. I do not want to eat anything. I do not feel like eating at all.” I replied as I had no mood to think about myself first.
“But you have to. Wait right here. I am coming in a while. Okay?” Kazan said and stormed out of my sight, without letting me say another word.
I sat down on the chair after that, as my legs started to betray me already.
I was feeling weak for no reason.
Even so, I just could not be at ease anyhow.
I looked around the place from my seat and noticed that Jacob, Markus and Jeremy we're still there.
It seemed that the father and the son had finally got time to get united at last.
Even in such a depressing time, I was glad that I could see something good at least.
Yes, Jacob and Jeremy were finally happy to get each other back in their lives and I was happy for them indeed.
Kazan came back with a lot of foods, soon. He went to give them food first and then came to me with two packets in his hand, and sat beside me.
“Be a good girl okay, and finish all this.” Getting them out of the packet, he held it before me.
All of a sudden some weird smell got into my nose, and I could not help myself anymore with the urge to puke right here right at this instant.
I blocked my mouth with my palm and ran off to the nearest washroom in the hospital, and poured everything out of my stomach, in an instant.
I sighed, realising that this pup inside me had already started to show its effects on me, and I have to go through such things often from now on.
I was pulled out from my trance with a sudden band on the washroom door right after.
“What happened? Are you alright? Summer, open the door, let me in, please?” Kazan's worried voice came from the other side of the closed door.
Without sparing him any further time worry, I unlocked the door and went out of the washroom.
“What just happened? Are you sick? Let me take you to the doctor first.” With that, he started to pull me by my wrist, knowing the least about the symptoms of carrying a pup inside.
“Do not bother. I am fine. It is your illegitimate pup who is giving me trouble right now.” Saying that, I pulled my hand back only to see that Kazan was really stunned, hearing what I just said.
“Stupid.” With that, I started to walk towards where others were.
“Summer, you know that we are mates and I made love to you with all my heart when this little one arrived. So, how did our pup become an illegitimate one, for you?” Kazan asked and kept walking by my side to keep up with me.
“But you have hurt me too and how can I forget that?” I glared at him, causing him to shrink with fear due to my anger right at this moment.
Yes, I can be sad, angry, even happy all at once at the same time now, quite strangely.
“I am ready to pay for that.” Kazan said without thinking and I could not help but sneer in my mind, thinking how easy he took me as.
“Tell me then, what can you do to make up?” I stopped and turned sharply to face Kazan, with a stern gaze, of course.
“Well, you can punish me by marrying me and keeping as your hostage for the rest of my life. How does that sound?” Kazan uttered without any hesitation.
Shameless.
Even in this, he was trying to get his own profit.
“No, that will not do, for me.” I answered and started walking once again.
And when I went back, those three were still there, waiting outside Jenny's room and Kaith was still nowhere to be seen as he might be still in there.
“Markus! Could you do me a favour, please?” I asked, as soon
as I approached them.
“Yes, what is it?” He asked, cautiously, seeing that I was asking him even when Kazan was still by my side.
“Could you take some food for Kaith?” I asked and was about to hand him the excess packets.
“Well, you do not need to worry. Cause I did that already as Kazan had already asked me to feed him some, earlier. So, he is fine now. Instead, you need to be concerned about this Kazan, cause he did not have any bite at all, until now.” Markus replied, and I had no reason to hold back my anger anymore.
And I was about to explode, but Seth walked in at the right moment, in the middle of the night.
“Well, you all go back now and rest. I will stay here. You can come back tomorrow again. Okay?” Seth said, which I was not at all intended to listen, as I wanted to stay here until Jenny gets up and I could see her out of danger finally.
“No, I am staying.” I uttered right away, but little did I know that there was a whole lot of people to go against my will right now.
“No, you will not.” Kazan yelled as soon as he heard me.
“Well, Kazan is right, Summer. You need to go back and rest. You have done a lot today. If not for you, then think about the pup and get some sleep, please.” Markus blurted out in front of everyone, all of a sudden, only to receive a deathly glare from me.
“What pup? Whose pup are you talking about?” Jacob became curious all of a sudden, after hearing what just Markus said.
Yes, he did that intentionally. Didn't he?
I wanted to punch his face really hard as I was angry... very angry.
“Mine. She is mine and the pup inside her is mine too.” Kazan grinned, showing all his teeth at once. As if he was proud of something.
But, with the least of my expectations, he received a tight smack on the back of his head, from Jacob who started to yell at him all of a sudden,
“She is carrying a pup and still you let her run around the whole town, knowing how dangerous it could be for her?”

Kazan's P.O.V
Somehow, I managed to take Summer out of the hospital, saving my ass anyhow from Jacob.
Tsk.
Or else, I did not know either what he was going to do with me.
Anyway, I do not have to worry about that anymore.
Standing outside the hospital with Summer in the middle of the night, I could not help but remember the first time when we met. Yes, the night time always brings me a whole lot of memories of us together. And somehow I feel warm while I look back in time, even if the night was cold or not.
I grabbed her hand tightly into mine, and promised myself tonight that I will never let go of this hand for the rest of my life, no matter what.
“Let's go.” Her soft voice fell on my ears like magic and in an instant, my mind, my soul and even my heart were drawn to her without any effort, leaving all the other things back in mind to think later.
I lifted up her hand and kissed on the back of her palm.
“I want you to ride on me, tonight.” I said, knowing very well how she was going to react. I can not help but laugh in my mind.
Cause, she reacted exactly how I imagined earlier.
Her face turned pale out of utter shock and she pulled her hand out of mine, in no time. I could clearly see how anger had already started to build-up in her, turning her cheeks in absolute red.
“What? What did you just say?” She yelled with a lot of panics, and I could not hold myself back from laughing out loud in front of her, making her even angrier than before.
“Well, I am going to shift into my wolf now, and then I want you to ride on my back, so that we can go home faster. You are looking very tired, that is why I thought that I can give you a little ride even when I know that you can run back on your own as well. But tonight I want you to ride on me, so that you can rest on me for a bit, on our way back. Okay?” As soon as I explained why I chose to say those words, she started to blush even harder realising that it was only her who was thinking about something else and I was barely holding myself back from eating her right here and right now. Cause seeing her in such a way, I had already started to feel that I want more of her, tonight.
“What? Were you expecting me to do something else when I asked you to ride on me?” I asked, seeing that Summer became absolutely stupefied in her embarrassment, but somehow I found her cute right at this moment. I was barely holding my urges to tease her even more, but it was better to leave them for later.
“No. Not at all. You are the pervert one, who can think of something like that at such a crucial moment and also who does not know how to choose the correct words at all.” Summer was indeed fuming in anger and started to get away from me in no time, stomping on the way, angrily.
But I was not going to let her leave me tonight. Not a chance.
I pulled her back in a flash of a second, even before she could imagine what I was doing, and held her tight into a hug from behind, so that she can not escape from me ever.
“Be a good girl, will you? Do not get angry. I know that I have failed to meet up to your expectations right now and angered you, but let me promise that I will not do that again. Let us go home first, then you can ride on me all you want, and I will never dare to stop you. Okay?” I uttered just beside her ears, knowing how hard she was going to beat me up right after. Even so, I did not know how could I overlook the sudden temptation to tease me one and only mate, pleasing my heart more and more with each passing second.
And even before she could break out of my hold, I made her face turn to a side with one of my hands, and took her soft lips into mine without even waiting for any more second. Cause I was already more than impatient to have her right now.
I could not stop myself and kept sucking on her lips, until she opened her mouth for a little bit, giving me enough space to invade inside her mouth with my tongue, all I wanted. I could not help but savour all the sweetness that she has, with the intense and desperate kiss, while soon I can also feel how her tongue had started to dance with mine as well, in no time, showing how badly she wanted me too, right now.
Before I could hold myself back no longer, I broke the kiss right away even when I was the most reluctant to do so, and pulled her to a side by her wrist.
“I am shifting, okay? And you will climb on me right after.” With that, I started to strip out of my clothes hurriedly without any hesitation, cause it was only her who could look at me right now, and I did not mind her looking at me, at all.
“Make sure, you bring these with you, or I have to stay like this the whole night, without any clothes on. And you have to go through the consequences, without any doubt.” I smirked and gave her all my clothes to hold, and she did not argue at all, but kept quiet. And within seconds, I shifted into my huge black wolf without any effort.
And in the next moment, Summer climbed on my back and grabbed my fur tightly, to make herself comfortable on me, during our little journey back. Her warm body was wrapped on me, leaving no space in between us for the moment, and I just could not help imagining something, which I was not supposed to think right at this moment, that was enough to arouse me without one single effort.
Anyway, I ran back to my pack Blood Bay as fast as I could, thinking that it might be better for her to stay at my place for tonight, which will help her to stay away from all the mess that happened today, at least for a night.
Neither she made any complaint even when she saw that I was taking her to some other direction which does not go to Lunar High at all. Summer just kept lying on my back, as if she could not be more comfortable.
And I was glad that she chose to trust me, even after all the conflicts that we had between us, recently.
As soon as we reached the Blood Bay pack-house, I took her straight to my room, without even bothering her to climb down from my back.
My room felt as cold as ever, but it was good that my mate was here with me now, so that I do not have to worry about how to warm up the place, tonig
ht. Cause I knew exactly what I should do.
At last, I let her get off my back and shifted back in no time.
“Here. Put these on. Fast.” Seeing me standing naked in front of her eyes once again, she moved her gaze away from me and tried to hand me the clothes that I had asked her to bring, earlier.
I sneered, seeing how stupid my mate could be from time to time.
“I do not need them any more.” I affirmed and threw the clothes aside after taking them from her hand.
“Neither do you.” I uttered right away, and pulled her into my arms in an instant, making her absolutely startled and stupefied. A warm hue of crimson started to build up on her cheeks once again and I just could not help but wish to see her like this all the time, as much as I wanted.
I did not take much time for me to strip her out of all the clothes that she was wearing right now, even when she was protesting me with all her might.
And only after I was satisfied enough, I lifted her up in my arms and went to bed, without any delay. We lied down together, and I pulled the cover up on our bare bodies, in case she feels cold, but as I could see, neither of us needed that, cause we had already started to feel hot by being with each other like this.
The night was pleasant, and she slept well, as I did nothing to her after that, cause I knew that she needed to rest more.
I did not know when I dozed off to sleep after her, until the morning sun rays crept in through the open windows to wake me up first.
And the first thing I saw just when I open my eyes in the next morning was Summer, which was more than enough to make me the happiest. Seeing her sleeping beside me, filled my heart with some unknown joy in no time and I just could not take my eyes off of her at any cost.
I did not realise how long I was watching her sleeping, until Summer opened her eyes as well, declaring the fact that she was now totally awake.
“Good morning, mate.” I kissed her even before she could realise, and my sudden move made her blush once again.
“Morning.” Saying just a single word she tried to hide under the cover, but I was not at all willing to accept that. Why did she even have to bother herself to hide when I was really enjoying watching her like this.
