Wylder and the Almost Rockstar (Reluctant Rockstars Book 2)

“If you’d have had time on your side and a roof over your head, you might have been able to pound the pavement in Music City, selling Luke as a solo artist and you as his songwriter.”
“Exactly.” Logan didn’t know why she wasn’t tearing him apart, but Marigold Martin saw a much bigger story within the truth than the sensational one everyone was expecting. “We never meant for this to happen.” He looked into the camera for the first time. “I owe Luke’s fans an apology and hope you can understand that we never meant to deceive you.”
“I think we can all agree there is a lot more to this story under the surface, and Luke and Logan both deserve the chance to make it right. I’d love to have you both back on the show in the very near future, but for now, I think all the Luke Cook fans out there would love to hear something from Logan Cook.” She gestured toward the left of the stage where the band waited for him to join them.
Luke was nowhere to be found. Ever since they found out Luke was the one who had released the video, he’d disappeared. As Logan headed toward the stage to perform on live television, his legs started to shake, and he vowed to strangle his twin with his bare hands the next time he saw him.
“You’ve got this!” Wylder whisper shouted from her place at the side of the stage, just out of the camera’s view.
Logan nodded to Luke’s guitarist, and the melody he’d worked on with Wylder filled the room. Logan took a deep breath and stepped toward the microphone. Just as he opened his mouth to sing, he saw the crowd staring at him with rapt attention. He missed the cue from the drummer, and they looped back around to the opening.
Logan stepped back from the mic, hanging his head. He couldn’t do this without her. He held up his hand to stop the music. “Told you I had massive stage fright.” He stared at Wylder. “I’m going to have to ask my friend, Wylder to come help me through this.”
Wylder glanced around, like she wasn’t sure he was talking about her. “She’s my good luck charm, so let’s ask her to come up here and sing the song we wrote together.”
“Wylder. Wylder. Wylder.” The crowd took up the chant.
“What do you say, Wylds?” Logan held his hand out to her.
“Oh, all right, I’m coming.” She rolled her eyes and darted onto the stage. “I’ve never been anyone’s good luck charm.” She came to stand beside him, shoving him to the side of the mic they were about to share. She covered it with her hand. “We’ve got this, Logan. Just look at me and don’t think about everyone watching.”
She turned to the band and said, “Let’s do this, boys!” She clapped her hands over her head and got the crowd into it. And just like that, Logan’s stage fright vanished.
