Broken Skies (Dragon's Gift: The Storm Book 4)

Happiness and pride filled me. Damian had changed so much since we’d met. He’d conquered his darkness and accepted what couldn’t be changed, and I guess in a way, so had I. We’d slain our demons together.
I swallowed the tightness in my throat, not wanting to spoil this moment with tears, because, yeah, being a genie made me emotional.
“Then it’s settled,” he said. “We’ll build a library and fill it with all the books we can find.”
I thought of the Library of Alexandria and silently cringed. “Legally and ethically, you mean.”
“Of course. Who do you think I am, a book thief?”
Probably.
I choked out a laugh. My heart was overflowing.
“But first, Mr. Malek, before we do any of that”—I slid my hand over his chest and, grabbing the collar of his shirt, I slowly tugged him down, so his face was inches from mine—“I want a repeat of last night.”
His eyes flashed with desire. He leaned forward and dragged his mouth over my neck. I shivered under his touch and dipped my head back, delighting in the way his spicy pine scent skated over my skin, stroking over my nerves like the first time we’d met.
“How about right now?” His whiskey voice sent liquid heat straight to my center.
I nodded and wrapped my arms around him. The ether sucked us in and Rhia and the others faded away as we shot through the cosmos like a burning comet.
The spinning stopped, and I opened my eyes. The fireplace crackled and candles blazed around the room of the cabin.
Damian lowered me onto the bed, planting his arms on either side of me. “What exactly did you want repeated from last night?”
“I don’t recall. Why don’t you remind me?” I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his mouth to mine.
“Your wish is my command.”

Author’s Note

Thank you for reading Broken Skies—we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! While this is the last book of Neve and Damian’s story, they’ll be sticking around. In fact, this is only the first series of many involving Magic Side and its characters.
You’ve already met the hero of our next book, Jaxson Laurent—werewolf and son of the Dockside Alpha. He’ll be making an appearance in the finale of Linsey Hall’s Wolf Queen and features in our new series Magic Side: Wolf Bound. The first book, Night Hunt, will be here soon, and you can pre-order it here: mybook.to/Night-Hunt
This leaves the important question: who’s the heroine? She’s the star of the show after all! Well, you haven’t met her yet. At the moment, she’s just a tough girl working in small-town Wisconsin. She has no idea how special she is, or that magic and werewolves are even real.
She might be in for a bit of a shock.
We’re super excited about the Wolf Bound series, but for now, we’d like to say a few words about the history and archaeology that inspired this book. In Wicked Wish, when Neve and Damian visit Cappadocia, she learns he can speak Turkish. That was a little hint that he had some history in that part of the world, and hence their travels to Armenia. Neve and Damian’s visit to meet Nathaniel and the Order of Angels is inspired by Tatev Monastery. It’s located on a basalt plateau in southeastern Armenia and was constructed in the 9th century AD overlooking the Vorotan River gorge. One legend about the monastery is that during the church’s construction, an apprentice climbed to the roof to place a cross. He fell off and plunged into the gorge and cried out to God to give him wings. In Armenian, this is “Ta Tev.”
Broken Skies is set in the wider Dragon’s Gift universe created by Linsey Hall. The best part of writing in this big world is that we’re able to bring in characters from other series, so you can expect a lot of crossovers between the folks from Guild City, Magic’s Bend, and Magic Side in the future.

That’s all for now, but you can keep turning the pages to find out more about our next series, Magic Side: Wolf Bound.

Wolf Bound: Night Hunt Preview
Werewolves are hunting me.
I was just an ordinary girl working tables in small-town Wisconsin. I had no idea magic was real. That was, until I backed my car over a werewolf a couple times.
In my defense, the wolf was trying to murder me, and I was all out of mace.
Now I’ve got a pack of rogue wolves on my heels, and the only one who can protect me is the Chicago Alpha.
He suspects I’m special and can’t take his eyes off me, but the problem is—he’s the sworn enemy of my family and every time we get close it feels like something is going to rip out of my soul.
With danger around every corner and wolves howling in the night, I need to master my magic and stand my ground, or I’ll be dead before the next moon rises.

About Veronica Douglas
Veronica Douglas is a duo of professional archaeologists that love writing and digging together. Veronica specializes in the archaeology of the early Islamic world, while Douglas studies ancient ships and Egypt. After spending an inordinate amount of time doing painstaking research for academia, they suddenly discovered a passion for letting their imaginations go wild! A cocktail of magic, romance, and ancient mystery (shaken, not stirred), their books are inspired, in part, by their life in Chicago and their archaeological adventures from around the globe.
About Linsey Hall
Before becoming a writer, Linsey Hall was a nautical archaeologist who studied shipwrecks from Hawaii and the Yukon to the UK and the
Mediterranean. She credits fantasy and historical romances with her love of history and her career as an archaeologist. After a decade of tromping around the globe in search of old bits of stuff that people left lying about, she settled down and started penning her own romance novels. Her series draw upon her love of history and the paranormal elements that she can't help but include.
This is a work of fiction. All reference to events, persons, and locale are used fictitiously, except where documented in the historical record.
