  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

As an only child, Hayley Faiman had to entertain herself somehow. She started writing stories at the age of six and never really stopped.

Born in California, she met her now husband at the age of sixteen and married him at the age of twenty in 2004. After all of these years together, he’s still the love of her life.

Hayley’s husband joined the military and they lived in Oregon, where he was stationed with the US Coast Guard. They moved back to California in 2006, where they had two little boys. Recently, the four of them moved out to the Hill Country of Texas, where they adopted a new family member, a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.

Most of Hayley’s days are spent taking care of her two boys, going to the baseball fields for practice, or helping them with homework. Her evenings are spent with her husband and her nights—those are spent creating alpha book boyfriends.

Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.

  CARSON

  FIVE YEARS AGO

TEXAS IS HOT. Definitely nothing like North Dakota, but this is where my sister, Sadie, wants to live. She wanted to run away from it all, specifically from her boyfriend, Ace. I don’t understand why she would want to leave Ace.

He’s gorgeous, dark blond hair, blue eyes, and tattoos. He also rides a motorcycle. Everything about Ace is hot. I’m envious of my sister when it comes to having a guy that good looking at her side. Though, I’d probably never tell her that, instead, I’ll quietly watch him, and hope that one day someone as good looking and nice wants me the same way.

At eighteen, I don’t get much say in where we live though. So when she said we were leaving, I packed my shit. Nowhere, Texas is where she wants to go, so that’s where I follow. I’ll always follow Sadie. She’s the only real family I have.

“You know he’s going to find you,” I point out, wiping the sweat from my forehead.

Sadie looks over at me and shrugs, giving me a coy smile. “I’m sure he will,” she purrs.

“Why do you do this to him? It’s mean playing games like this,” I sigh.

That’s Sadie though, she’s a game player, always has been. She is the bad girl sister to my extremely good girl sister personality. She is always doing drugs, having sex, and running around with the wrong crowds. I don’t do anything, not even drink. I’m too scared to get into trouble.

Sadie’s older than me by five years, and more of a mother to me than our actual mother. She’s the only family I really have, and although she isn’t perfect, who is?

I was so happy when she started seeing Ace. He’s one of those guys who looks like a bad boy, and probably is when he
s out with his buddies, but he takes care of Sadie. He keeps her clean and I think she’s really happy with him. I love them together and want him to be my brother-in-law someday. She’s a happier person and a better sister since she’s been with him.

However, Sadie is fucking Sadie and can’t just soak up her happiness. She just had to go and rock the boat, every fucking time. I was already sick of her shit before she suggested we move to Texas. Now being halfway across the country, just to play a fucking game, I’m over it, and her.

“You’ll learn one day, Carson, you’ll learn that to keep them interested you have to play cat and mouse with them. Every other woman out there has the same pussy as you. These guys can get that anywhere, yours isn’t anything special. So to keep them coming back for more, you have to play the game,” she winks.

It only takes Ace three days after we arrive in Texas to find us. I watch from the sidelines, as always when he finally lays eyes on her. His face sets hard and turns an unnatural shade of red.

“I’m done with your ass,” he growls.

Sadie smiles, using her arms to press her tits together and looks up at him, seemingly innocent. “C’mon Ace, it’s all for fun,” she giggles.

He lifts his hand in the air, his eyes finding mine and gives me a small wave. “Sorry, kid. I’m outta here. You ever need help, don’t hesitate to call me,” he says directly to me. I watch as Sadie reaches for his arm, he shrugs out of her grasp. “But you, Sadie. You don’t fuckin’ call me. Not ever again. I am done with your strung out ass.”

I watched him turn away that day. We never saw him again. Sadie didn’t know it at the time, but she was pregnant with his baby. I threatened to call him, to tell him, but she made me swear I never would. Against my better judgment, I never contacted him. I should have. I should have picked up the phone and called him immediately.

Less than a year later a screaming baby enters my world. The second I held him in my arms I knew he was special. I knew he was going to change my entire life. I named him Axe. A tribute after his father. Sadie was almost comatose when he was born. She told me to take care of everything, including his name and birth certificate

A few weeks later, Sadie OD’d when Axe was only a month old. I picked up the phone a dozen times to call Ace, to let him know that Sadie was gone and that he had a child. One time I actually did get brave enough to call him. He answered but there was a party in the background, I heard a girl calling him baby, and I hung up.

He’d moved on, he was probably blissfully happy, and I didn’t want to ruin his life, I didn’t want Sadie’s fucked up games to ruin him even in her death. Not that I thought a baby would ruin his life. Axe was innocent in all of it, but I didn’t want Ace to harbor resentments, to feel… I don’t know.

I decided to stay in Texas with Axe, in the small town that Sadie moved us to a year before. Marble Falls was just off the highway, a vacation place that most people just passed through. My mother was gone, Sadie was gone, but I had Axe, and I was bound and determined to do right by him.

I had a plan, and I was going to make sure he grew into a good man. I wasn’t going to let him be anything but successful in this life, even if I had to work my fingers to the bone doing it. He deserved to have it good, for all of the hardships he suffered as an infant, and the roller coaster life I had myself, I was going to make sure his world was always stable.

  ONE YEAR LATER

  KEYS

THE PHONE RINGS just as the bitch on her knees takes my cock deep in her mouth. Whatever her name, didn’t fucking matter, this bitch could deepthroat and that fucking shit felt amazing. “Hello,” I growl into the phone.

It’s silent and I wait a beat, a feeling coming from my gut that it’s more than a misdialed number. The bitch between my legs lifts her head. “Baby,” she purrs. I hear a click on the line and I look down.

Deciding that I’ll look up the number that called me later, I drop my chin down to my lap. The bitch opens her mouth and takes me inside again. Fuck, she’s good. I hope my club keeps her around for her oral talent alone.

Wrapping my fingers in her hair, I guide her along my cock at the rhythm I want. It doesn’t take me long before my head falls back and I’m emptying my balls down her throat.

“Shit,” she breathes once I release her.

Tucking my cock back in my pants, I rearrange myself and give her a smirk. “Go to the bar, get me a beer, yeah?”

She stands, swaying her round ass as she does what I demand. I dig my phone out of my pocket and look up the number that just hung up on me. I don’t recognize the area code, it’s definitely not from around here. Frowning, I hop online to look up the area code. There’s still that feeling in my gut that that call means something.

There’s a scream from somewhere in the room, then I hear the sound of a gun firing. Dropping to my knees, my phone flies out of my hand just as fucking chaos explodes around me. We’re being fucking attacked.

  Goddammit.

Pulling my gun out of my waistband, I fire back at the fuckers who have infiltrated our club. Shit. This is not how I saw tonight going. It takes a good fifteen minutes before the gunfire ceases. Our clubhouse is a goddamn mess, debris is everywhere and when I go back to my phone, someone has trampled it and it’s in pieces.

“Who in the fuck?” I growl, looking over to my president.

His eyes are narrowed and staring at a body lying limp on the ground. “He was the VP before you prospected. He wanted the club to go in a direction that nobody else agreed on. He left, but I should have killed him, I shouldn’t have let him walk away free,” he grunts.

“That’s a long time to harbor shit and just come back now,” I point out.

My president shakes his head. “Dope, man, he was addicted to meth bad, when I kicked him out. Probably ran completely out of money, and options. Figured he’d come back here and start shit, maybe get in and rob us. Who the fuck knows, can’t rationalize with a meth head.”

His words ring truer than he realizes. They remind me of my girlfriend, of the woman I contemplated making my Old Lady, Sadie. She couldn’t kick the habit, couldn’t stay off of the shit. No matter that her little sister, Carson, depended on her. No matter how many times I cleaned her strung out ass up. She couldn’t stay clean.

I hated abandoning Carson the way I did. Walking away from both of them without even looking back. I couldn’t be with Sadie anymore, I couldn’t keep playing her fucking crazy-ass mind games.

A vision of Carson flashes in my mind. Long and lanky, zero curves with shoulder length blonde hair. She was a pretty kid, with the promise to be a fucking knockout once her long lean body filled out. I hope she didn’t take the path Sadie did, I hope to God she got the fuck away from that sinking ship of a sister.

  CHAPTER ONE

  KEYS

FUCKING FISH. Goddamn, that piece of shit. He’s got us sitting in a hotel off of Highway 281 in no-land Texas, holding our dicks. “What do you think he’s doing?” Baby asks, leaning back in the hotel room’s one and only chair.

I lift my shoulder, looking toward the television. There’s an old western playing, something with John Wayne, but I’m not sure which one. I watch as The Duke holds his gun up and shoots. “I think he’s acting fucking wrong and has been since we crossed the border,” I state.

“I fucking second that,” the prospect, Houston, states.

Baby lifts his hand, running his fingers through his hair. “Let’s get some food. We can’t sit in this room for days on end waiting for him to come back, we gotta figure this shit out,” he mumbles.

“What about that diner on the way into town? Had a line out the door and I saw a sign about pie happy hour,” Houston suggests.

Standing from the bed, I lift my chin in agreement. Together the three of us walk toward our bikes and then head the few blocks toward the greasy little diner. Luckily, today there isn’t a line out the door, yet.

Once we park and disengage from the bikes, I notice that they ha
ve a pie happy hour from three to five every day, glancing at my watch I smirk. It’s two-thirty, looks like we’ll be here for happy hour. I can’t remember the last time I had a decent slice of pie, and I can’t wait for one here, especially since it’s their claim to fame.

We walk in what appears to be the back door and stand behind a couple with a small child. The boy turns around once we’re behind them and I watch as he cranes his neck back to look at me. I give him a smile and a wink. His eyes round and he smiles back before he turns toward his parents. They’re led to their table and I lean against the wall, closing my eyes for just a second while we wait for our seat.

“How many?” a soft voice asks.

I open my eyes and am met with a familiar bright green gaze. When her eyes meet mine, they round and panic floods her features. I know her, I don’t know where from or how, but I know her.

We sit down at a table near a window, but I can’t take my eyes off of her. There’s something about her. “What can I get y’all to drink?” she asks, her accent’s not as thick as others I’ve encountered here. In fact, it’s almost nonexistent.

Houston and Baby order black coffee and water. I’m so busy staring at her, that she has to clear her throat. Her eyes are wide and she’s staring at me, looking fucking terrified.

“Dr. Pepper,” I order. She nods, biting the corner of her lip and turns around, quickly walking away.

“Never seen you tongue-tied for a bitch before,” Baby chuckles, leaning back in his chair.

I shake my head. “No. I know her from somewhere, I just can’t place it,” I say.

“You ever lived here before?” Baby asks.

The light bulb turns on in my head as soon as he asks his question. She appears with our drinks and once she sets mine down, I lift my hand and wrap my fingers around her wrist. “Carson?” I ask.

She inhales a breath, her gaze flying up to mine. I watch as her bottom lip trembles. “You look the same, Ace,” she breathes.

“Fuck. Fuck,” I chant. “Jesus fucking Christ, I can’t believe it’s you.”
