  “It’s beautiful,” I whispered.

“It’s you,” Jace said. He leaned in and pressed his forehead to mine as the boys broke free of our little fort and rushed around the living room, screaming about how their mom and dad were getting married. Jace closed his eyes, and so did I. “Thank God you came back to Annapolis to teach.”

I nodded and opened my eyes, studying his dark lashes and the freckles on his nose that still hadn’t faded from the summer. He opened his eyes, and I stared into their pure, wonderful green.

I was the lucky woman who was going to spend the rest of her life gazing into those eyes every night and every morning. There was nothing more comforting than their sea of green.

Jace slid a hand across my cheek and into my hair.

Our kiss was soft and sweet. The music of the end credits of the film played in the background, and Linden and Paxton still raced around the living room, high on the thrill of the upcoming wedding.

Another tear rolled down my cheek, and Jace wiped it away.

  “I love you,” he whispered.

  “I love you too.”

We stole one more kiss in the fort on our living room floor while the twinkle lights above caught the diamond on my finger, sending shards of light dancing across the ceiling like a fairy-tale ending to a love story.

  But this wasn’t our ending.

This was merely the start of whatever our future was destined to be.

And the future was very bright indeed.

  The End.
