Creek Run Dispatch:
Normalcy returns to Pigeon Creek
Pigeon Creek — In spite of the unusually heavy snow this year, the past few months have seen many residents slowly returning to our little town to resettle.
After a long and thorough investigation, law enforcement has uncovered no further leads in the disappearance of artist Karina Redfeather or her cousin Simon desRosiers. A spokesperson who wished to remain anonymous said that the discovery over the summer of Redfeather’s shredded clothing and a massive quantity of dried blood indicated that she may no longer be alive. Whether or not desRosiers is a suspect is still unclear.
Former Sheriff pro tem Adam Hunter has resigned and, rumor has it, returned to Texas. The disappearance of his colleagues has not been fully explained, but it is reported that Hunter has continued to work with the FBI as they continue their investigation.
Sheriff Langston has returned to temporary duty until his retirement in two more months. A special election will take place in three weeks.
Residents are invited to pay their respects this Thursday afternoon as we commemorate the renaming of our main thoroughfare as “Hunter’s Road” in memory of the missing. Light refreshments will be served and a moment of silence will be held.
No further leads seem available in the apparently related murders of our Diner Ladies last summer, but a new special agent with the FBI released a statement in September to the effect that the killer or killers no longer presented a threat and that Pigeon Creek was perhaps safer than almost any other town in the Minnesota woods.
On that safety note: The Hillstrom family reports that there was some sort of large animal roaming around near the Redfeather property last night, but as it was a new moon, they could not identify what it was. A heavy snow overnight wiped out any tracks that it might have left.
Residents are reminded that this winter has been difficult and that they should keep trash bins locked up to deter prowling beasts.
