He groaned. “I’m near losing my control, Una.”

She gently ran her fingers down his chest, feeling his tense and wet body under her fingertips. Tracing the outline of his toned abdomen.

  “Una?”

She leaned into him and started to place a light trail of kisses down his neck.

“Fuck,” Will groaned, and before Una could even remind him of her rule, he took over and kissed her, pressing her back hard against the shower wall. She moaned. He hardened the kiss. There was something so enticing about watching Una slightly losing her control.

Placing his hands on either side of her head, his lips started teasing her skin.

Una shuddered a gasp, clutching his shoulder, her eyes closing in pleasure. Will grasped one of her hands and held it up against the wall while his other hand started to trail down, gliding over her body until he reached the warmth between her legs. She breathed in, her eyes snapping open before she met his gaze.

“I want you to moan for me,” he murmured, licking his lips and brushing it along the skin beneath her ears. He lightly grazed the sensitive patch with her teeth before he continued downward.

Gently stroking Una’s crotch, he heard Una moan softly. Warm breaths trailed from her breasts and then down along her side before reaching her hip. Teasing her navel with his tongue, he stopped to lick her from him to hip.

Una sucked in a deep breath, feeling a maddening sensation at her groin. She felt his warm breath fan across her skin as began to move lower. The moment she felt his strong hands massage the back of her thighs, her eyes slowly closed as her body relaxed for a moment until he pulled her leg over his shoulder and started a trail of tender kisses in and out of her smooth thighs.

When Will nudged her other leg wider and his kisses moved a little higher, he heard her gasp. “Are you okay with this?” he asked, looking up.

Una’s cheeks were tingeing a shade of crimson by the time she opened her eyes. “What are you…what…” She swallowed. “…are you doing?”

“Just relax. You will love this.” He kneeled down in between Una’s legs as he slowly carried out to stick his tongue out and began to lick up her silky wet skin, teasing her. Una gripped his hair tightly, and her toes began to curl as soon as she felt her warm tongue getting closer to her center.

“My heart is pounding,” Una remarked.

Will smiled and looked up at her again. “Just spread your legs for me.”

Una took a deep breath and bit her lower lip. She was nervous and excited all at the same time.

“Will!” Una gasped as soon as she felt his tongue brushed against her heat, sending an unfamiliar strong wave of pleasure coursing through her body. She shuddered and looked down at him, her mouth gaped open, and every muscle of her body froze. Words left her as she gazed into those dark blue eyes burning with emotions that were more than just lust. “What was…” her voice trailed off, feeling out of breath.

Will saw the shock registered on her face, and he immediately realized that it was her first time too. The fact filled him with pride, and all the more eager to continue. His hands gripped her thighs before he leaned into her, kissing her center again.

“What was…” Una’s voice trailed off, feeling out of breath. She threw her head back and squeezed Will’s head between her thighs. Her hands tangled itself into her boyfriend’s hair, tugging at it, which, in turn, only encouraged Will to flatten his tongue, lapping at her core. Her legs quivered as she writhed above him when he increased his pace, drawing the pleasure out to another level for her.

He had brought her to the edge and drove her to climax before, but what he was doing now was beyond her. Her ragged breaths turned into long moans. And she felt the shower stall was spinning slightly, and the way his tongue touched her sent nothing but shock waves of immense pleasure.

Swirling his tongue around her center, Will plunged deep inside her, propelling her further. Her eyes instantly clammed shut. Her ragged breaths turned into long moans that once sounded foreign to her when they first made love.

And just like every intimate moment they had previously shared, Will was, again, right—Una loved it. There was no doubt she loved everything he was doing to her.

Every so often, Liezel’s eyes drifted across the office toward Sinclair’s office. Ever since her curiosity had led her to what might be her boss’ little secret, she’d grown more curious and anxious to know who was that man Sinclair met with.

“So, what do you think is the real reason why Will took off early today?”

Liezel looked up at Glen, who was standing just outside her cubicle with his arms crossed over his chest and an annoyed look on his face.

“I’m sorry, Glen, but I’m not this office’s resident gossip girl,” she hissed. “He told you he was coming down with something, didn’t he?”

Glen narrowed his eyes at her. “I think you know something, and you’ve sworn to Will you won’t tell me. That’s why you’re not telling me, Liezel Anne.”

Liezel rolled her eyes. “Fine. Believe what you want—”

Her phone rang, and she pressed the answer button as quick as she could to cut short her conversation with Glen. “Sinclair Godfrey’s office; this is Liezel speaking.”

“Hi, Ms. Blanco, this is Paul Hanswell. Is Sinclair there? I have been trying to contact his mobile.”

“Yes, he’s here. Let me go over to his office and inform him,” she told him, turning her attention to Sinclair’s office.

“Great. Please tell him to call me up once he’s available.”

  “I will, Mr. Hanswell.”

  “Thanks.”

She put the receiver back and sighed at the sight of Glen. “Why are you still here?”

“I wonder what kind of flowers Sinclair was trying to order—”

“What are you trying to say this time, Glen?” Liezel’s face dropped for a moment before she gathered herself again and looked confident. “What flowers?”

“I walked in on him ordering some flowers on his phone before I coming over to you. That’s probably when Paul was trying to contact him.” Glen shrugged.

“Are you sure? Did you hear him give an address where to deliver the flowers?” she asked, her voice coming in a little stiff.

Glen took a step back. “Take it easy, Liezel Anne. And yes, I am sure because I may not be a flower expert, but I think a Tulip is definitely a flower. And no, I didn’t hear any address. The call ended as soon as I took a seat, and he went straight ahead and talked to me about—” he paused and cleared his throat “—about having me to spearhead the Hanswell project instead of Will.”

  “Really?”

“Yeah. I don’t know if he’s already told Will about it and if that’s the reason why he left early.” Glen’s voice was particularly laced with concern.

Liezel didn’t have much information regarding Sinclair’s sudden plan to realign his staff. As his assistant with whom he previously had a secret affair, her dealings with her had reduced, which mostly consisted of emails and errands. He even seldom invited her to sit in some meetings with clients.

“Well, I think I better just call Will later.” Glen turned and started to walk away from her desk, but not before saying, “I think our boss is in love again. After a long, long time.”

Liezel sank down in her chair, her heart drumming in her chest. She could literally feel herself getting warmer. Staring into space, she suddenly felt her shoulders grow heavy and her entire body tired.

After promising herself to let go of Sinclair, and to ultimately be free from what could have and might have been, here she was, slowly suffocating again. And she had realized that she was nowhere near becoming free because after hearing Glen, her newfound strength failed her.

Who was the lucky girl? Sinclair had never given her flowers. The gifts he gave her were something she somehow had to work for. Did the new girl have to put on some for those flowers too? Liezel doubted it.

  She tried to occup
y herself sorting through some paperwork, but she couldn’t seem to accomplish anything. She exhaled and stood from her seat. There was no use in trying when it was obvious how she was lamenting inside. She smoothed her skirt and checked her face in the mirror to make sure she looked fine in front of Sinclair. She walked across the floor and took a deep breath when she stood in front of Sinclair’s office before knocking.

“Come in,” she heard Sinclair’s voice.

Liezel gripped the knob and opened the door. Her mouth instantly ran dry as soon as she met her boss’s eyes. “Mr. Godfrey, may I leave early today?” she said from the doorway.

Sinclair’s blue eyes burning through her. “Why?”

“I—um…It’s my landlady. She called me up and told me about some plumbing issues, and they need to get into my apartment to check.” Liezel thought she’d rather tell him a lie than the truth. There was no way she could tell him how affected she felt about the flowers.

  “Is that the truth, Liezel?”

Her breath caught in her throat from the sound of her first name on his lips. After they split, he never called her by her first name again, and hearing him speak her name again caught her off guard.

She nodded. “Of course. I never asked to go home early ever before.” She hoped Sinclair wouldn’t ask her to call her landlady in front of her now, or she would be in deep trouble with him again. Her lie about where she lived had really messed everything up between them. Another lie, and she was sure he’d have her fired already.

“I see,” Sinclair said, folding his arms in front of him. “Okay. You may go. Just make sure you called the list I need you to make to set up my meetings.”

“I’ll update the list before I leave.”

He gave him a nod before looking at the view through his glass window. And just like him, Liezel took a step back and didn’t say another word as she turned on her heels and walked back to her desk. Quickly, she made the phone calls he asked her to finish. By the time she finished updating the call list, a couple of hours had already passed since Glen told her about the flowers.

Hurriedly, she left the office and walked over to her car and drove off.

She slowed to stop at a red light and looked into her reflection in the side mirror of her car. A frown crept across her face. Nothing could make her feel better at this moment except for a good amount of alcohol to drown the pain in her heart. But could she trust herself enough not to do anything stupid when she’s finally so sloshed she could barely walk straight? It had happened before, during her college graduation, and if it weren’t for Una, she would have gone home with strangers.

Tapping the wheel with her slender fingers, her thoughts traveled back to a moment in her past when, if it weren’t for Una, she would have gone with strangers, and things would have gotten ugly for her. And as the light finally turned green, she decided to drop by Una’s house and talk to her friend into going with her. With her heart breaking into pieces, she had zero trust in herself not to do anything stupid.

With a slight change of plan, Liezel stepped on the accelerator. She glanced at the digital clock on the dashboard and thought Una was probably home by now.

Twenty-five minutes later, she pulled into Una’s neighborhood, coming to a stop in the nearest vacant space. Shutting the engine off, she paused when something caught her eye.

“What the fuck?” she cursed under her breath

A delivery guy was standing in front of Una, and in his hands was a bouquet of white Tulips.

Liezel froze by sheer disbelief at what she was witnessing and as if she was watching the whole scene in slow motion. She felt like hell.

Though from a distance, Una looked like she wasn’t happy with the delivery. She grumpily took the pen and signed the receipt. The delivery guy handed the bouquet to her and left. But it wasn’t even a moment later when Una quickly walked over to the trash can on the side of the street and, without hesitation, tossed the bouquet inside and went back inside.

Liezel just sat in her car, staring at the door to Una’s house, silent tears slowly streaming down her cheeks. She had told herself a long time ago that no man was worth her tears, but Sinclair had proved her wrong more than a couple of times. This made her hate herself even more. And she hated the power he had over her. But as much as she had tried to stay in control, she ended being under his control.

It wasn’t like she was never hurt before, but unlike her previous boy troubles, now she didn’t have Una to help her move on. How could she? No wonder Sinclair distanced himself. No wonder he never took a second chance with her. No wonder ]he had changed. Now, Liezel had finally connected the dots.

Sinclair broke her heart again. And this time, she had no idea if she’d recover soon.

  Chapter 21

  Office Assault

“I still don’t know what to major in? What can I do?” Una mumbled to herself as she left Professor Cullum’s room, hurriedly leaving the university that Thursday afternoon.

Una had tried to avoid dropping by at the professor’s office, but once he hammered at her for avoiding their much-needed talk to asses her future in the university—and her future in general—Una felt sort of felt like she owed it to the professor to speak to him, so she went and had that talk. But just like their previous talks, she left without giving Professor Cullum a concrete answer to what she wanted to do with her life.

She tossed her hair over her shoulder as she crossed the street. She wanted to grab some food before going home. But just as she rounded the corner, she stopped when she saw Sinclair leaning against his car.

Sinclair looked a little different as he walked toward Una. The way he was walking even looked different, it was like in slow motion, like he was actually hesitant to approach her.

“Hey, how are you?” he greeted and gave Una a smile that didn’t reflect in his eyes.

“Are you going home? I can give you a ride.”

“No. I’m going to grab something to eat first and then go home.”

“Okay. Let me drive you home after that,” Sinclair offered in a dark velvety voice.

Una glared at him and hugged herself. It took her a few seconds before she realized what Sinclair had just offered. She couldn’t believe him offering her to drive her home like they were actually friends. When she didn’t drop any hint to accept his offer, he took a small step forward and gave her a smile that was meant to assure her it was fine to trust him.

“I’ll grab a cab,” Una finally spoke and regretted it almost immediately. She could have just told her she’d go home on her own instead of what she just said. Now, Sinclair knew she didn’t bring her car with her, and she was pretty sure he’d insist on driving her home.

“Come on, Una. You can trust me, you know.”

“Did you follow me here?” Una sounded more tired than angry; her annoyance obviously directed at Sinclair.

Sinclair opened his mouth to say something and stopped when he realized he didn’t have much of a good answer to Una’s question. He could really tell her the truth, but in his head, he knew it wouldn’t help his case. But Una was someone he’d really wanted to tell the truth to. So, taking a deep breath, feeling a little worried about her reaction, he said, “I didn’t exactly follow you. I just wanted to tell you something important, and I thought I’d find you here.”

For a moment, Una did nothing.

Sinclair took a deep breath. “Come on, Una. I’m not a creep, okay? If that’s the reason why you’ve been very distant,” he said with pleading eyes.

“That’s exactly what a creep would say.”

He felt very helpless in front of her now. “I’m not. I’m no longer a stranger, Una. Let’s talk, and if it makes you feel better, I promise to stay the hell away from you after that.”

Una sighed and looked in the direction of the Sanson Road Café to her left and glanced at Sinclair’s car that was parked in the corner. Looking back into Sinclair’s eyes, she finally reached some kind of a decision that a part of her h
ated.

“Okay…” She stepped forward toward the car.

“Aren’t you going to grab something to eat first?”

She shook her head. “I’ll message Will to bring dinner instead.”

  Sinclair’s jaw tightened. “I see.”

She sighed again. “By the way, I’m only letting you take me home because you promised to stay away from me after.”

  Sinclair frowned. “I know.”

He opened the passenger door for her. After one final skeptical look at him, Una climbed in. He ran to the driver’s side and hopped in. Sinclair smirked. When he first found her in his office, he’d somehow guessed that she had an attitude—not annoying though, just feisty.

Just like her, Sinclair had thought, but before he started the car, she shifted in the seat without hesitating to hold back her discomfort.

“What is it you want to tell me?” Una asked him.

He slid the key in the ignition and started the car. “Let me drive you home first. I’ll tell you when we get there.”

The drive to Una’s house was a silent one, although she had caught him glance at her almost every five minutes. She didn’t bother to ask why. She was too tired or maybe perhaps too uninterested in finding out.

Sinclair pulled into an empty lot and parked, the engine idling. He sighed, looking up at the house—the one he knew Una shared with Will—and then over at Una with a lazy smile.

“Thanks for the ride.” Una expressed her gratitude right away. “Now, what is it you wanted to tell me?”

He cleared his throat, his smile slipping away. “You can’t wait to get rid of me, can you?”

Una looked away before her brown eyes returned to stare at him.

Sinclair sighed deeply and looked down.

“Are you okay?” she asked with that same tired exasperation.

Sinclair moved closer to her and looked up at her. “Una… I…”

And before another word could escape his mouth, he leaned further, and his lips came crashing down on Una’s and pulled her closer. And it took Una a few seconds to fully understand what was happening.
