'I think it's time our quarrel was settled,' he said hoarsely.
Taking her by the arm, he led her into the simple whitewashed bedroom.
Slowly, almost reverently, he removed her elegant Parisian clothes until her lithe curves were exposed to his gaze. His fingers trembled as he reached out and touched the swelling mound of her breast.
'You are so beautiful, agapimou,' he murmured.
Fire leapt through her veins, and her entire body seemed to pulse with longing as his hands continued caressing her.
'I love you, Philip,' she said urgently as his lips moved down the slender column of her throat.
'I love you too, Katarina. More than I can ever tell you,' he replied huskily.
'Come, my darling, let me show you how much.'
Then somehow he was in bed beside her and his powerful, naked body was warm and urgent against her tender flesh. His strong hands sent quivers of desire shooting through her, and his lips were a torment of pleasure on her satiny skin. She nestled closer to him, sighing with need, and offering her own tentative caresses until at last they both went wild with longing and moved together in a rhythm of passion as old as time. Again and again he brought her to the peak of ecstasy, and then at last he tensed and cried out, clutching her against him and moaning her name. And an overwhelming peace and contentment descended on them both.
Later on they lay sleepily entwined, enjoying the mingled warmth and closeness of their bodies, Kate reached up and stroked his springy dark hair.
'Philip?' she murmured blissfully.
'Mmm?'
'It's funny, isn't it? When we stayed here the first time and you pretended I was your wife for a night I couldn't help wondering what it would be like to be your wife forever.'
He smiled and nuzzled her cheek. Then his lips alighted on her closed eyelids. First one, then the other.
'Well, you'll soon know, agapimou,' he promised tenderly.
Then, reaching across her, he switched out the light.
