‘Everyone knows, Lizzie,’ he said calmly.
Who would have told everyone about my vision?
‘Don’t be so silly! They wouldn’t do that. They’re protecting me. They stayed outside my room for the whole time I was in hospital.’
‘Yes and decided who could see you. Why do you think I didn’t go?’
‘You could have come.’
‘I came when you were sleeping and nearly got my head blown off by James. Seb then accused me of sending the box and cornered me in the library and nearly drowned me. Would you want to piss those guys off?’
‘What are you saying?’
He can’t seriously expect me to take his accusation seriously.
‘I am asking you to be careful around the knight brothers, Lizzie,’ he grabbed my hands in his and looked me in the eye. ‘You know the old saying: “Keep your friends close but your enemies closer”.’
