When I Spoke To Myself ; 21 Poems On The Experience Called Life Page 2

by Vivek Mehta

  My legs have energy more,

  And my body more vitality,

Since I have walked such a great distance

The remaining maybe just a triviality

But my mind does not motivate anymore

It does not yearns for the old like it did before,

So many destinations has it reached,

So many goals it has achieved,

  Many promises it has kept,

  Many tears has it wept,

No it no longer yearns for the old,

It seems to separate the dust from the gold.

The destination I pursued seems to be near,

But, my mind has left it's pursue in the rear,

It wants to cross the thresholds of fear,

No longer do its longings seem so dear,

Coming to a halt, wanting to settle,

It looks for a poise which none can belittle,

No it longer yearns for the old,

It seems to separate the dust from the gold.

  A Night Full Of Questions

As I sit thinking the night grows dark

Growing in depth and becoming so mum,

There's only one thing that's making a sound,

That's my mind thinking from the dollar to the pound!

There's no rest for the mind which has questions,

Wondering about life's mysteries and equations,

Well one would ask Why? “It all seems so simple!”

It seems in some minds there's never a tinkle!

It seems the night is hiding some mystery,

Even the stars feel comfortable in its ministry,

As my eyes gaze up at the moon,

It's seems to be telling I won't find my answers too soon.

Hurries and worries I want to keep aside,

That's why I am awake in the deep of the night,

As all are asleep happy in their slumber,

I sit here with the night and my childlike wonder.

  Had I Not Stepped Out

Had I not stepped out of the door,

Oh! I would not have seen the morning swell,

Would have not heard the bird's delightful yell,

So cute was the dog wagging his tail,

Alas! I could not wait to listen his full tale.

Had I not stepped out of the door,

How would have I added to my experiences,

  Without encountering anything new,

I would have lost the ability to differentiate.

So different is each day, unique and special

It's like coming to the same shore,

  But boarding a different' vessel.

What would I have missed had I not talked to you?

Wouldn't have heard the so many words you had in the stay,

Had I not made an attempt to unveil your silence,

I would not have known the feelings underneath,

If had decided to myself only my words I will keep,

How would I have known another universe,

Like making a trip to a new planet without any reverse!

Had I not gone to college how would I have known,

There was alpha, there was gamma and so many things unknown.

Had I not been exposed to so many things every day,

I would never have discovered the way to explore.

The failures and the success, the rewards and the punishments,

Had I not lived each of these, I would have never known life's accomplishments.

I am glad I stepped out of the home,

Else I would not have been the same,

As there is much that I wouldn’t have known.

I would have been like a radio not switched on!

A nice pair of jeans never put on!

  A chocolate pastry never tasted!

  A lovely sticker never pasted!

A great stock in which I never invested!

A spectacular yield of the crop which I never harvested!

If I had not stepped out of door,

It would’ve of my life, a sheer wastage!!!

  Dear Diary

I made it thru the day,

It started slow but I paced up on the way,

It had it highs and lows,

But I was always on the go.

From the light that came in,

When I drew the curtains in the morning,

Till the darkness in my room,

  When I went to sleep,

In my memory is vivid ,

All that happened in the day

  The places I went,

  And the people I met,

And the dialogues that we had.

  The laughs and the gazes,

All the curses and the frets.

  From the tiny little moments,

To the moments that would stretch,

I guess I got from this day,

  All that I could get.

As lie in my bed reminiscing what happened thru the day,

A part of me is excited of what’s coming next day,

But the night is so lovely , quite and so cool,

Calming down my senses, as dreams tend to rule!

As I watch my breath and I close my eyes,

  I experience the ultimate darkness,

  It makes my mind appreciate,

  The jewel of nature's smartness!

I thank myself and everything around for this wonderful day.

And I thank you dear diary for listening to what I had to say!

  Strange It Is

Strange it is, the water's surface,

Many run not too deep today,

A finger in and there it ends,

A bit of sun, and all but mist!

The seas are for those adventurous few,

Caring not of float and drown,

Care-free, care-scarce they make their way,

In corners where none would be found.

Walk not, no feet in the waves,

No paths, no roads are paved,

  Forward or ahead not known,

When inside the waters I make my home.

  You Gotta Go Slow Sometimes

  You gotta go slow sometimes,

  You gotta keep low sometimes,

  You gotta just know sometimes,

This is not the time sometimes.

You gotta let it all go today,

You gotta miss the train today,

  You gotta keep quiet today,

  It's not the time today.

  You gonna loose sometimes,

  You gonna bleed sometimes,

  You gonna be misunderstood sometimes,

It's just not the time sometimes.

  You gonna live today,

  You gonna give today,

  You gonna feel today,

  Maybe it’s that day today.

  You gonna run sometimes,

  You gonna have fun sometimes,

  You gonna love sometimes,

Maybe It’s just one of those sometimes.

That's how life goes most of the times,

Swinging like a pendulum all the times,

Never stopping to change for a while,

It's fun to live with life all the times.
