I hope she is right, because I can’t afford to lose another person I love. Love. God, this level of devotion I have for Tennessee would be alarming if it didn’t feel like I’d been sleeping through my entire life and now my eyes are wide open. But that is crazy. He’s a nomad—not a patched member of the Uprising Kings of Carnage. He could leave at any minute, be sent wherever the nomadic charter needs him, and I’ve already lost my heart to him. I’ve given him everything—body, heart, and soul. I just hope he doesn’t shatter what’s left of me.

  CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

  Bear

A black van pulls up to the meet, and the guy with the mohawk steps out and heads right for us. We all train our guns on him, but the fucker doesn’t even bat an eyelid. I can’t decide if he’s just fucking dense or crazy. He reaches for his gun, and we all go on red alert.

“Don’ shoot.” His Cajun accent is so thick, at first, I think he’s putting it on. Then I remember how his father screamed and begged for his life in a similar tongue. Voodoo places his pistol on the ground and sweeps it out of the way with his foot. “We’re not here to fuck shit up.”

“Little late for that, isn’t it?” Poe calls.

“Me and my buddy Hawk here were just following orders. I’m sure you know what dat’s like?”

“You killed a family member,” Chaos says.

“And you killed one of mine. We didn’t come ’ere to argue with y’all; we came bearing gifts.”

  “Gifts?”

Voodoo nods and Hawk moves to the van.

I step forward and press my .45 against this douchebag’s temple. “Not so fuckin’ fast, asshole.” I glance at Prez. “Just say the word.”

“Prospect,” Chaos barks at Crow, tilting his chin toward the van. “Go take a look inside the van.”

Crow walks toward the vehicle as if he’s walking to meet the reaper. I can’t say I fucking blame him. That van could contain anything.

Hawk opens the doors and Crow peers in and says, “They’re all tied up.”

  “Who?” Chaos asks.

“The rest of our brothers. The one’s we could do without, anyway.” Voodoo tilts his chin in my direction. “Your man dere already got my pops.”

“He killed my ol’ lady’s brother,” I say through my teeth.

“I’m not interested in retaliation. You did me a favor, brother.”

  “I’m not your fucking brother.”

Voodoo smiles. “Either way, my pops and de rest of his crew have been a pain in my ass since de day I patched in. We been talking about a takeover for a long time; it was just never the right time. Hawk and I didn’t want to come here. We’re not looking for any more trouble. Just wanna go home.”

“My men wanted that too,” Anvil says.

Voodoo nods. “I get dat, I really do. But I just handed you half my club.”

“And what about the other half?” Chaos asks. “Where are they?”

“Blackwater Bayou, where dey’re stayin’, and where Hawk and I are headed. So, you already killed my father; we’re handing over all of the members we could do without. I’d call dhat even, wouldn’t you?”

Chaos moves forward and pulls the trigger, unloading a clip into the men in the van. Voodoo and Hawk don’t even flinch. “Now we’re even.”

Voodoo nods to Hawk, who leans into the truck—I guess to make sure none of those cunts are breathing.

“You take them bodies back to the Bayou, feed ’em to the gators. I don’t want them being dug up by the feds in my backyard,” Chaos says.

  “Or mine,” Anvil says.

  “Understood.”

“We see you or White Nation in our territory again, we won’t hesitate to fuckin’ kill you,” Chaos says.

“I can accept dat. I already spoke to deir new leader. We gonna move operations to Jackson, bypass Georgia altogether.” Voodoo turns his attention to Hawk and nods. He moves to the driver’s side and climbs in.

“Laissez les bons temps rouler,” Voodoo says with a grin. “Let the good times roll.”

The cocky asshole climbs in the van and I have half a mind to shoot anyway, but we don’t need the rest of the Bayou Bastards MC coming for us. We’ve seen enough war to last a lifetime. Instead, we watch their tires kick up dust as they drive out of town for good.

I glance at Chaos, whose eyes are glued to the empty stretch of road. “You all good, Prez?”

  “Yeah. I don’t think they’ll be back.”

“You know ...” Anvil claps a hand on my shoulder. “I think Georgia looks good on you.”

“Or maybe it’s just that sweet Georgia peach he’s got stashed back at the clubhouse,” Glass, my former VP, says. “I might have to stick around too.”

“No!” the Uprising charter say all at once.

I laugh and throw my leg over my bike in an awful hurry to get back. I know Tink can hold her own, and she’s got Leah, Tyra, and Kami, plus that girl who keeps hanging around Crow, but I also know how catty club whores can be when they’re given free rein of a clubhouse. Bambi’s okay, but Asia’s turned next-level stalker on my ass.

OUTSIDE THE CLUBHOUSE, Cambri opens the door for us, and one by one, we stride in. Jupiter’s sitting on the end of the couch, talking to Crow’s sidepiece. Baby blues meet mine, and she tucks her lilac hair behind her ear as she tries to play it cool. I’ve got her fuckin’ number though. I stand stock-still in the middle of the clubhouse, a cocky grin on my face. She climbs to her feet and walks towards me. “Hey.”

  “Hey your-fucking-self.”

She throws her arms around me. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, baby girl.” I bury my face in her neck and breathe in her sweet scent. “Everything is perfect now.”

“I hate this feeling,” she whispers. “I hate being so scared for you.”

I pull away and frown down at her, then I lead her to a quieter part of the clubhouse, a small recess in the hallway near the bedrooms. “I can’t promise I’ll always be safe, but you need to know I’m always gonna do everything in my power to come home to you.”

  “So you’re staying then?”

“I’m not going anywhere, babe. Club or not. I’d hand in my colors before I ever willingly left you.”

A soft smile tugs at the corners of her lips, and I lean down and kiss her, my tongue driving into her mouth to slide against her own. She moans, and I snake my hand under her dress and slip inside her panties. I rub her clit as her hands tug furiously at the fly of my jeans. “Fly on up here, Tink. I need your tight little pussy bouncing up and down on my dick.”

“God, I love it when you talk chauvinistic asshole to me.”

“Hell yeah, you do.” I lift her so she’s wrapping her legs around my hips and I slam her back into the wall. She gasps, but those blue eyes turn electric, so I slide her panties aside and push into her in one hard thrust.

  She gasps. “Oh, fuck!”

“You like being impaled on my cock, honey?” I drive in faster, fucking her with sweet abandon.

“Y-yes.” Her breath catches in her throat with every upward stroke.

“Then you gotta shut that pretty mouth of yours, because as much as I love taking you in the middle of this clubhouse, I don’t want those perverted old fuckers to get any ideas.”

She squeals and wraps her legs tighter around me when I pull her away from the wall and grab her hips, using her own body as leverage to let me fuck her deeper, harder, faster. She moans again—albeit quieter—and I shake my head at her, because she just can’t help herself. Truth is, neither can I. I couldn’t help myself when I first rolled into town, and I can’t help it now, because I’ve fallen head over boots for this little man-hating fairy, and I don’t want to ever let her go. A deep, guttural moan leaves my mouth as I spill inside her, and she rides the high into her own orgasm, clenching so tight around my dick that my own release seems to go on and on.

Someone clears their throat behind us, and I slam my palm against the wall to steady us because I’m a
bout to lose my shit.

“Sorry, brother,” Mako says. “Prez is calling for you.”

  “Yeah, I’m coming.”

“Or you just did,” Crow supplies.

Tweedledee and Tweedledum—I’m not sure which, because these days, Ruin and Sterling are practically the same fucking person—chimes in with, “That must have been some kind of record.”

“Maybe you need to start dating younger men, Jupiter,” Saint suggests.

“Yeah,” Sterling adds. “These old guys can’t keep up with our little speed racer.”

“It’s a shame we didn’t get that on film,” Ruin says. “Quickie in the Clubhouse has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?”

“Fuck you, asshole.” I throw over my shoulder as I ease out of her. Tink whimpers, and I’m sure it’s because she’s already mourning the loss of my cock. I tuck my junk away, press a kiss to her hair, and whisper, “I’m sorry, honey.”

I turn and face the boys, giving Tink a little time to readjust her clothing out of view of these knuckleheads.

“It’s okay. Believe it or not, I can take everything these fools can dish out,” Tink says.

  “Fools?” Sterling says.

Ruin folds his arms over his chest. “Woman, who you calling a fool?”

She wraps her arms around my waist and presses her warm cheek to my back. I grab her arm and pull her around so she’s in front of me, then I lean down and kiss her until she lets out another little moan of pleasure.

“Damn it, Bear. Now I’m hard again,” Ruin says. The others chuckle, but I could cut diamonds with my dick.

“I gotta go,” I whisper against Tink’s lips.

  “Club business, I know.”

  “Then I’m taking you home.”

She smiles and reaches up for another kiss. “I like the sound of that.”

It takes everything I have to walk away from her. I’m only going to be in the next room, but it’s killing me not to touch her or hold her, and to let her go.

Saint and Mako walk on ahead, Crow, too, but the others hang back.

“Just so we’re clear,” Ruin says, “you know we’ll fucking kill you if you harm even a hair on her head.”

I grin, but I love the fact that Tink has two men I trust with my life to watch her six. “You could try.”

“Oh, we’d succeed, motherfucker.” Sterling walks in front of me, taking the last few steps into church backward.

“I have no plans to break her heart. That bitch is the best thing to ever happen to me.”

“Glad to hear it,” Anvil says, and I glance beyond Sterling and Ruin to see the entire room packed with brothers, old and new. Every member of the Uprising charter is here, along with my previous club, filling empty seats at the table and standing against the walls.

  Oh, shit.

“Close the door, will ya?” Chaos nods to Sterling, and the huge oak doors slam shut. “Bear, have a seat.”

Dread courses through my veins as I move to the only empty chair at the table. It’s time I paid for disobeying orders.

“You know why you’re here?” Chaos asks.

  “I got some idea, yeah.”

“Then we won’t draw this out any longer. You went against orders and killed the Bayou Bastards Prez.”

  “Guilty.”

“You called in another club without my permission.”

  “Yep.”

“You gonna do either of those things again?”

“Wasn’t planning on it. You gonna give me a chance to do those things again? Because if not, I’d like a day to get my affairs in order.”

  “I ain’t killing you, son.”

  I sigh. “Well, that’s a fucking relief.”

“I’m handing you an Uprising patch. Looks like with Little Miss Purple Princess out there, I ain’t gettin’ rid of your ass anytime soon, so I might as well make it official. If you still want a permanent seat at my table, it’s yours.”

“I want it.” I snatch the rocker from the table and grin. Everybody laughs and my new chapter hollers and shouts.

“Well, I guess we’re stuck with the moody bastard now,” Bash says, clapping me on the shoulder.

“Welcome to the club, brother.” Ruin says.

“Thanks.” I stand and all of the brothers congratulate me. I even shake hands with the bastard who fucked my ex ol’ lady. How could I not when him betraying me led me here—to the only real family I’ve ever known, the only woman I’ve ever loved this much.

“If no one has anything else to say, let’s get this fuckin’ party started. Tennessee brothers, drink, fuck, be merry, and don’t fucking come back anytime soon, ’cause I can’t damn well afford it.” Chaos bangs the gavel and everyone files out in search of pussy and booze.

I follow suit, spotting my woman across the room, but I have no intention of staying at this party. I’m gonna take her sweet ass home and fuck her all night.

Before I can reach her, Asia fronts up to me. She runs her skanky little hands up and down my cut. I see red. My hand grabs her wrist and squeezes until she’s crying out in pain. “Get your fuckin’ hands off me, bitch.”

“Ow!” she complains. “Bear, you’re hurting me!”

I lean in and meet her gaze. “Touch me again without permission in front of my ol’ lady, disrespect her like that one more time, and I won’t put you in the fucking ground. I’ll let her do it.”

Jupiter’s red lips curl into the sweetest little smile and her eyes hood, promising a world of pleasure when we get home. I lean closer, as if I’m about to whisper tenderly in Asia’s ear. “And then we’ll cover your lifeless body in dirt, and fuck like rabbits on your grave.”

I smile sweetly, but Asia backs up several feet, never taking her eyes off me.

Jupiter watches the skank run from the room and folds her arms across her chest. “You scared the shit out of that poor girl.”

“Good. It’ll teach her not to disrespect my woman.”

She shakes her head, but she’s grinning as she says, “Come on, biker. Let’s get you home before you break any more hearts.”

“The only one I give a shit about is yours.”

She slips her hand in mine and we walk out to my bike. “You better make sure it stays that way.”

  EPILOGUE

  Bear

  Two weeks later

Jupiter blows me a kiss and revs her engine. I grin. Watching my little Tink hand these guys their asses on the track gets me hard as fucking nails.

“She looks like quite the handful,” Mckenna purrs in my ear. I flinch, because I like being startled about as much as I used to when she and I were a thing.

As much as I love Anvil and some of the other Tennessee Kings, they’re definitely outstaying their welcome. Anvil couldn’t let the feud with White Nation go, so we’ve been paying visits to some old enemies and picking off numbers when we can. I think I speak for all of the Uprising chapter when I say we’re a little short on Southern hospitality these days.

“She’s two fuckin’ handfuls, but you know me. I never back down from a challenge.”

“That’s not the way I remember it,” she says with a pout. “You didn’t fight for me.”

“Because you weren’t fuckin’ worth it,” I spit.

She reels back as if I just smacked her in the face.

“Everything alright here?” Butch asks, and I give him a sideways glance before turning my attention back to Tink. She and her opponent rev their engines again.

Mckenna goes to him, draping her arm around his shoulder. She nuzzles his neck. I get the distinct feeling she’s trying to make me jealous, but I feel nothing when I see the two of them together. No more hurt, no more betrayal, no more longing ... just fucking nothing.

“You know, we’re both sorry about how things went down,” Butch says.

I grin. “Oh, you mean fucking my ol’ lady?”

Mckenna narrows her eyes as if she’s waiting for me to explode. I laugh instead, and a crease forms be
tween her brows. Mascara is smudged under her eyes, and she looks like shit. I’m starting to wonder what the hell I ever saw in her—maybe it was just that I wanted so much to be wanted, that I felt incomplete and that I needed another person to fill the holes war left in me. Whatever the case, I was a fucking idiot. Mckenna is just as much of a dick as Butch is. It just took meeting someone like Jupiter to see it.

“This one’s for you, Bobby Ray!” Jupiter shouts. I snap my head in the direction of the cars as their tires squeal and they fly across the pavement. I frown, because Butch and McKenna are distracting me with their bullshit.

“You’re not still mad, are you, Beary Bear?”

“That you were fucking this asshole behind my back for months? Nah,” I say with a cocky grin.

Jupiter comes in first, just like always, and she climbs out of the car and fist bumps Liam and Jeb.

“I was. For a long time—too long, in fact. But I’m good. You two betraying me turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me,” I say.

Jupiter pushes through the crowd and jumps into my arms, wrapping her legs around my waist and kissing me square on the lips. I grip her ass and shove my tongue deep into her mouth. A whimper escapes her, and then she kisses me with the same amount of vigor and hunger to match mine. When we come up for air, she whispers, “I won!”

  “No, darlin’. I did.”

She frowns, confusion stealing over her face. Mckenna clears her throat, and Jupiter turns and gasps. “Who are your friends? We never actually had a formal introduction.”

“They’re no friends of mine,” I reply. Mckenna’s fake smile vanishes, and I stare at my old Sergeant at Arms—whose eyes are firmly on Jupiter’s ass. “And, Butch, if you so much as think about stealing this little hellraiser, I’ll cut out your eyes and cut off your dick, and ram them down your throat.”

Jupiter presses her lips together to keep from laughing, but it spills over. “Have I ever told you how hot you are when you threaten people?”

“I think so, but you better show me again at home. Just to be sure.”
