The Case of the Troubled Tycoon: A Gilded Age Historical Cozy Mystery (Shipwreck Point Mysteries Book 5)

He must have seen her revelation in her face, because he barely waited for the yacht to come to a stop before jumping over the side and running toward her.
Without thinking about what she was doing, Elisabeth ran to meet him, her eyes locked with his, the joy of the victory and the spread of his welcoming arms overtaking her usual restraint. As they came together, those arms wrapped around her, and she reached up and clasped hers about his neck. Their faces were so close, she could see the flecks of green in his blue eyes, smell the hint of rum on his breath. The sounds of the crowd vanished as he bent towards her. He pressed his lips against hers and then possessed them as she responded to his kiss. The world consisted of just the two of them, hearts open to one another without reservation for the first time. They remained so until she had to breathe. Reluctantly, she pulled away the tiniest bit. She opened her eyes and saw him gazing at her tenderly. “I love you, Titus.”
His hand rose and stroked her cheek. “And I you, Elisabeth,” he whispered.
An enthusiastic whoop from Owen Campbell broke the spell. Suddenly, she realized there was more cheering going on all around them, accompanied by several hoots of glee. She stepped back, her cheeks on fire, but when she dared to look at the faces that surrounded the two of them, all she saw was happiness and approval for what had been destined to be.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Elise M. Stone was born and raised in New York, went to college in Michigan, lived in the Boston area for eight years, and ten years ago moved to sunny Tucson, Arizona, where she doesn’t have to shovel snow. Her first degree was in psychology, her second in computers. She’s worked as a pizza maker, library clerk, waitress, social worker, programmer, and data jockey.
After trying her hand at several kinds of mystery stories, she’s discovered she most enjoys those written in the style of the classic books she read in her youth—her youth being a long time ago.
As seemed fitting, the Shipwreck Point Mysteries take place in a time before she, and most of her readers, were born. A simpler time, yet a time filled with intrigue and dark corners of its own.
The Case of the Troubled Tycoon is her fourteenth published book.
