Say You Want Me

Jonathan’s mouth forms a small line, and I can see his hands balling into fists. I can only pray that he won’t be angry with Vincent.
“This whole time you’ve been playing me?” he says incredulously. “That can’t be true, Camille. I know what you were like when you were with me. No one can act that well. You love me, like I love you.”
His words cut right to my heart. It’s the first time Jonathan has told me that he loves me. And even though he’s right, I can’t back down now.
“I’m sorry, Jonathan. I’m not in love with you, I never have been.”
Devastation fills his eyes. He looks at me angrily, and the worst part is that I can’t even blame him.
“I never want to see you again,” he then says, with icy calm.
He turns and slams the door shut with a loud bang. Vincent is still rooted to the spot and looks at me.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why did you lie to him like that, Camille?”
If I don’t want my plan to fail, I have to lie to Vincent too. I have no other option. I shrug my shoulders nonchalantly.
“It’s the truth.”
Vincent shakes his head. “I don’t know what you’re up to, but I don’t want any part in this. I just got my brother back, and no one can take him away from me. He saved my life.”
With those final words he walks past me, and he also slams the door shut with a loud bang. It’s a miracle the door is still in one piece. But with that last bang, not only the door got damaged – my heart was broken into thousands of little pieces.
The tears I’ve been trying to hold in all this time start to run freely. I know this was my decision, but why does it hurt so bad?
The door opens once again, but now it’s my father who enters. He walks straight to me and pulls me into his arms. He strokes my hair like he did when I was a little girl, and he just lets me cry.
“Ssh, It will all be okay.”
“How?” I sob.
“I don’t know, honey. But we will find a way.”

Acknowledgments
Idon't think there are words that can express the way I’m feeling right now. I still can't believe this is all really happening. There are so many people I would like to thank for helping me achieve my goal. From my amazing Facebook fans, colleague writers to my amazing husband, daughter, and family. Without them I could never have done this.
A huge thank you to my editor, Jessie Saunders. Without you this book would have never been the way it is now. Thank you so much for your help.
I’m blessed with so many great people in my life, but there are a few I would like to thank.
To my sweet husband, you were always there for me. You didn't mind the hours I spent behind the computer to finish this story. You supported me during all this time, and you took care of our precious daughter when I was too busy writing. You even read my book, even though I know you hate reading. You even passed the quiz I gave you after reading it. You're the most amazing husband I could have ever wished for. We've been through so much together. It was an amazing journey so far, and I know for sure that regardless of any love story I could pen, ours is my favorite.
To my precious little girl, you always manage to make me smile, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t make you stop growing, so I just stand by and see you transform into this amazing, great, loving person. But no matter how grown up you get, you will always be my little baby.
To my friends and family who stood in the front row to read the book. I’m just so thankful for each and everyone of you. At times, when I thought I wouldn’t make it, you were there cheering me on to keep chasing my dreams.
To all my readers, for giving me new ideas, for asking me for new stories. For helping me through tough times. Without you this book would have never happened. Thank you never seems like enough, but THANK YOU for reading and supporting indie authors like me.
I hope you stick around and that I get to see you again in the next book.
