  Chapter 41 - Monster Hunters (I)

Lampitz State University, in District B of the city of Kadam. Although it was called a university, in reality, it was like a small town. State University occupied almost the entire area of area B, with an area of about 2,000 mu. According to the information obtained from Zero, this University City had many academic institutions, dorms and research rooms. Among them, public places include a football field, skating rink, music hall and auditorium.

The school also has its own power generation facilities, garbage incinerator, water cycle equipment and other living facilities. The university was divided into four areas by a straight concrete cross-section, each with a cobwebbed path connecting the buildings with different functions.

Before the University City was damaged, they already existed like a maze. Now, a portion of the buildings had been destroyed by the meteorites, and the ground had been broken. Many of the functional buildings had collapsed, changing the topography of the University City and causing the entire school to become an even more complicated maze.

This state university, on the other hand, was about the same size as the Remot, and had the functional facilities left behind from the old era. If the Remot could occupy this place and repair a portion of the facilities here, then the University City would be able to expand and expand into a new foothold, and it would even become completely new in a few years time.

From this, it could be seen how urgent it was for the Remot to acquire the Regional Universities.

The sun was about to set, and the night was about to rule the land. This was also when the mutated beasts were still active. After all, he had three other competitors. Without a doubt, one of them still wanted to kill him.

But looking at this intricate landscape, he smiled. It was not certain who would be the victor. Although the Meteor Su Domain was powerful, it did not mean that they were invincible.

In the wilderness, accidents could happen at any time. As for Zero, he belonged to the wilderness.

Before coming to the University City, he threw Lala into a mechanized stone. There was enough metal to feed the cub. Although Lala's gastric juice could dissolve gold and iron, there were so many rock spider in the ruins that Lala could only play a limited role. Zero did not put him in danger. On the other hand, he alone could bring out his full combat power.

There was a faint sound in his ears. It was the sound of wheels pressing against the ground. It came from the ruins a few kilometers away. Knowing that his competitors were here, he took off the golden right eye's goggles and secretly put it into the multifunctional army bag on his back. In its dragon-like eyes, University City was like a giant beast that was stung by the night, while Zero's figure directly disappeared into its mouth.

  Two days passed.

It was early in the morning. In the hall on the first floor of the library, Lingcun was hiding behind a bookcase that had been turned upside down. When the morning sun fell on them, the adult height of the rubble began to tremble.

A half meter long yellow-brown rock rolled to the ground. However, when it touched the ground, six cracks appeared on the edge of the rock. The rocks at the edge of the cliff split open and stuck out. They were connected to the black limbs. These six limbs propped up the rock

The front stone split from a third of the way down, the back end receding to form the chest and belly parts. A semi-elliptical black organ protruded from the front of the chest, and six pairs of compound eyes emerged from the top of the object, arranged in two rows on either side. Then a pair of chelating teeth appeared.

Just like this, a rock spider completed its transformation from a rock to a living creature right under Zero's eyes. And as the radius of the sunlight expanded, more and more stones turned into rock spider, and then quickly crawled towards the shadow of the library.

When one of the rock spider was dazzled by the sunlight, and crawled towards the bookshelf where Zero was hiding in panic, Zero took out an alloy dagger and slowly raised it.

The moment the mutated beast appeared, the dagger stabbed into the soft, gelatinous crack between the chest plate and abdomen of the rock spider. In an instant, the rock spider retracted its limbs and head, turning from a living being into a rock.

This was the result of over a hundred experiments with rock spider in the past two days. The soft, gelatinous substance that connected the chest to the abdomen seemed to be the nerve center of this mutated beast. After being pierced by the sharp object, the spider's nerves would be cut off, resulting in the appearance of a biological coma. Before falling into a coma, the spider, out of self-preservation, retracts all its external organs and limbs, turning them into stone to confuse other creatures.

The rock spider that had fainted almost never woke up again, but it was still alive. However, without food, the spider could only survive for a day or two. Such a thing could be considered a good living specimen, but it was a pity that monsters half a meter in length and width did not want to transport it back no matter how small it was.

Zero gently moved the unconscious spider to his feet. Due to the dagger still sticking out of its body, the spider's stone form was not complete. Zero circled the spider with the dagger and cut the spider into two along the gelatinous substance. Green spider blood flowed out from the gaping hole, and the spider could no longer maintain its stone form, from a coma to a dead body. Without the control of its nerves and muscles, its hidden limbs and head slipped out of its body.

The body of the rock spider was wrapped in a thin carapace the color of stone. This shell was abnormally solid. When the dagger stabbed into it, sparks flew. He reckoned that if he were to use the minicomputer to attack, it would not be able to break through the defense of the carapace at all.

The limbless foot, the zero cut of the black part. In addition to the rock shell, the black part of the skin of the foot was quite fragile and could almost be broken with a single poke. However, the muscles inside the shell were especially delicate. The muscles and veins of the spider twisted in a strip. These muscle fiber s provided the spider with sufficient strength to support its weight, and they also had explosive power, allowing it to accelerate when necessary, allowing it to instantly catch its prey.

As for the compound eyes on the head, Wu Zu discovered that they had eye muscles that could rotate 180 degrees. That was the vision provided to rock spider s that had almost no dead angle. Well, just about. The relatively large abdomen made the rear part of the spider the only blind spot.

A pair of chelated teeth protruded from the monster's mouth. The teeth were hollow inside, and a piece of elastic muscle could eject a sharp tube from the tooth. When a spider bites into a human body, it can suck the blood of its prey through a suction tube. There was no poison sac in this pair of teeth, but the spider silk that the rock spider spat out had a nerve poison, it could wrap around prey with spider silk and penetrate their pores, paralyzing their bodies.

The entire dissecting process took more than half an hour. Although he could not bring back the living specimen, the information he obtained after dissecting the specimen was kept at zero. This piece of information was as valuable as a living specimen. He believed that Theon would be willing to pay for it.

Keeping the dagger, he walked out of the library. He had already completed the drawing of the map representing the western region of University City.

[Starting from today, the classification of the beasts has changed. Under the effect of the four chapters, I plead for everyone to collect them. Thank you everyone!]

Chapter 42 - Monster Hunters (II)

Map drawing was one of the most common tasks. Naturally, this needs to be a high precision of the description can not be done by hand. In fact, there was one more piece of equipment on Zero's left wrist. It was a multi-functional tactical wrist watch that was rented in the hall of the Remot Union. Other than having the relevant functions such as the time of the wrist watch, the compass, the temperature test, and the date of the wrist watch. It also ha
d another function, which was the holographic scanner.

As long as this function was turned on, the location where Zero had walked past would appear on the base's map plotter via the computer connected to the base. Because each base's computers had their own security identification systems, tactical wrist watch like them were not common. Normally, after a mercenary accepted a task to draw a map, they would have to rent a wrist watch from the union.

The's own Tactical wrist watch were relatively simpler, they had once viciously supplemented the knowledge of the new era in their time of leisure. From what he knew, wrist watch s that were developed by big companies like the Parkland had holographic talking capabilities. If it was combined with electronic gloves, it could be used as a holographic computer.

And now, with Zero, he walked out of the library. In the Remot's base, the western part of the Lampitz University City had already completed the drawing of the floor plan and the three-dimensional map on the plotter.

He found a spot in the ruins and sat down. He hadn't closed his eyes or eaten for two days. His stamina had been depleted beyond his imagination, and now he needed to replenish it. After drinking 200 ml of Level 2 Purified Water and a tube of Nutrient Su, Zero relaxed his body, in order to speed up the decomposition of the food and turn it into energy for movement. His body was resting, but Zero's head was still at work.

In these two days, he hadn't met with any of the other three mercenaries. This area was big enough for University City. However, as the number of unknown areas dwindled, it was only a matter of time before both sides met. There were three of them, and with the exception of the expressionless Chinese woman, the other two men were hostile. Especially that Element Domain Capable, when he left, Zero could clearly feel the killing intent directed at him.

The power of the Meta-Su Region was mysterious and strong, but Zero was not afraid. No matter how powerful the ability was, one had to see the opponent before being able to use it. And Zero did not intend to fight head on, as a high ranking Element Domain Capable was also unable to defend against the incoming bullets. As long as he gave Zero a chance, he would be able to kill that man called Lafite before his opponent could make a move.

If it wasn't to help Teddy and the others pay the temporary living expenses, that amount of money would definitely be enough to buy an old sniper rifle. In an area like University City which was like a maze, sniping someone with abilities that wasn't too strong wasn't difficult at all.

Now, there was only enough money to buy two fragment grenade from the old era.

The only thing to worry about was the Chinese woman, who was in danger because she couldn't see the depth of the situation.

Half an hour later, Zero left the shelter. After a period of rest, he had stored up enough energy for two days of activities. He used the repelling force of the terrain to head towards the south side of the campus.

This area was mainly the living area. Rows and rows of dorm buildings lined the area, surrounded by artificial gardens. In the center of the living area, there was even an artificial lake. One could imagine that in the old era, this place must have been filled with lakeshore scales, lush grass, and full of vitality. Now, however, the dormitory had collapsed and the garden had been in a state of disrepair for many years. Coupled with the prolonged exposure to the sun, the vegetation had long since withered and died. As for the artificial lake, he had long since seen the bottom. The dry bottom of the lake was covered with the excrement and bodily fluids of some unknown animal. It was extremely disgusting.

He drilled into one of the dormitories. The buildings on the fifth floor and above had been damaged and collapsed. The buildings below the fifth floor were still considered intact, but there were cracks everywhere, as if they could collapse at any time. In the corridor on the ground floor of the dormitory, there was a pool of viscous liquid that attracted the slightest bit of attention. Zero squatted down and lightly stuck his finger on it. Then, he brought it up to his nose and took a sniff.

There was a faint stench, similar to that of dead fish. The feeling of numbness coming from his fingertips told him that this thing contained a small amount of Poison Su. He had seen this kind of thing a lot in the past two days. That was the rock spider's spider silk mucus. They would wrap the spider silk around their prey and drag it away. As the spider web dragged them along, it would leave a trail of viscous liquid on the ground.

The mucus on the stairs had yet to congeal, meaning that a rock spider had just dragged its prey past. The traces of the mucus extended from the corridor all the way to the multi-function hall. Zero stood up, took out a pair of revolver and walked towards the multi-function hall.

Most of the doors to the Hall of Multifunctions had already rotted away, leaving behind only a small piece of wood as a camouflage. Looking through the gap in the door, he saw that a space had been cleared out of the multifunctional hall. The morning sun shone in through the window, and within the light, a human pupa wrapped in spider webs was suspended in midair.

A rock spider climbed up the wall while dragging its prey wrapped in spider silk, and then used the spider silk's extremely thick mucus to fasten it to the ceiling of the hall. Zero did not expect these monsters to use the multi-function hall as a food storage room, and these people would become a feast for the rock spider to reproduce. They would be sucked dry of their flesh and blood by the hungry rock spider in the spider web, leaving nothing behind but skin and bones.

After attaching the food to the ceiling, the rock spider entered a crack in the corner of the hall and disappeared. Only then did Zero enter the hall, coming under the freshly captured prey. The people who were wrapped in the spider silk were young and old, both male and female. Some of them had already died, but some of them still had a weak aura about them, just like the new prey.

Zero recognized the man who had just been captured. It could even be used as a symbol. It was the old drunkard that Zero had bumped into at the entrance of the guild hall. Zero took out a dagger and cut open the spider web, then gently held old drunkard's body and placed him on the ground.

The neurotoxin on the spider silk had already invaded the old drunkard's body. Su Yun could only hope that this person was captured by the stone bead not long ago and had not gotten deeply poisoned. That way, he could expel the poison from his body by bleeding for him. Zero rolled up the drunkard's sleeve and was about to wipe his wrist with the dagger. Unexpectedly, the dagger was suddenly grasped by a hand. old drunkard, who should have fallen into a coma, suddenly opened his eyes wide and asked Su Yun, "What do you want to do?"

"You're not poisoned?" Wu Dai was surprised.

The alcoholic sneered, "Have you ever seen a monster hunter be defeated by a monster that you are familiar with? What a joke. I let him catch me on purpose, you fool! "

Zero was surprised. He knew about Hunters, but he didn't know that there were other types of Hunters. He didn't expect that this old man who had his foot in the coffin was actually a hunter.

  Chapter 43 - Value

"You idiot, you ruined my whole plan. Those guys have a good nose. I can't pretend to be arrested a second time. If they recognize me, they'll definitely draw my blood first before talking about anything else. " old drunkard had changed out of the black clothes he wore when they first met each other. He was now wearing a grey white shirt and a long windbreaker. As he muttered to himself, he took off his windbreaker.

However, there were quite a few firearms' parts hidden inside this unremarkable windbreaker. old drunkard took them off the windbreaker and assembled them skillfully. After a while, a modified sniper rifle appeared in front of Zero.

The sniper rifle was completely out of any known sequence of guns. It was close to the old Barham, but the barrel was longer and thicker. The spear did not have any sight gear s on it either. Only God knew what the vision distance of the old drunkard was, that it could use this kind of sniper rifle to hit the enemy. The bullets in the sniper rifle were also very special. They looked
like ordinary large-caliber sniper rifles, but the warheads were engraved with beautiful lines.

Intuition told him that these patterns were not only meant to look good, but were probably designed to enhance the power of the bullet.

Seeing Zero staring at his own sniper rifle and bullets, old drunkard was quite smug. He shook his gun and said, "This is a good guy who has accompanied me for my entire life. This is an improved sniper rifle that I, Sir Ben Douglas, personally designed and made. It's called the Colt, and it's so small that even a screw can be made using a machine tool. Although your M500 is also a rare commodity, but my Colt only has one in the entire world. "

A thoughtful expression appeared on Zero's face. A handmade weapon felt completely different from a finished product made from assembly line. The handmade firearms seemed to be an extension of one's bloodline. From their design to their manufacturing, to their completion, the author had put in all his effort into making them. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that when finished, the spear also had its own soul.

Now, Zero understood why there were no sight gear on the sniper rifle. However, although it was easy to make firearms, the requirements were quite harsh. Not only did it require a large amount of suitable materials and related manufacturing equipment, it also required the author to be familiar with the firearms' principle and the processing of their parts. It was not something that could be done just because he wanted to.

"So, you were also hired by the Remot to do a reconnaissance mission here?" It didn't matter how strong the drunkard was in actual combat. The fact that he was able to create his own firearms was already worthy of zero's respect.

old drunkard looked at Su Yun and laughed, "Stop joking around, do you think I would accept such a boring mission? Let me guess, for a mission like this one in the Remot, the reward wouldn't be more than 10 thousand, even if we completely annihilate these troublesome rock spider? "
