Kolt hesitated a moment before parting his lips further and wrapping them around the top edge of the gun, his tongue sliding obscenely along the underside of it. If Nero had in any way wilted after fucking him, his cock immediately stood back at attention. Kolt could feel it, and with a little more fervor, he took more of the gun’s barrel between his lips. He hit his teeth on it once or twice, but he sucked the cold metal until it turned warm on his tongue. It tasted like oil and metal, and something he couldn’t place.
Nero pushed it in a little deeper, forcing him to open a little wider. “Fuck yeah,” he breathed heavily.
Kolt could feel the fae’s arousal even without seeing his hand move to help himself to seconds.
Fool.
As if Kolt couldn’t fucking do that, perfectly fine and willingly for him. He sucked the gun, one hand carefully closing around it to take some of the control from Nero, easing it back to really get his tongue around it.
“Yes,” Nero moaned.
Kolt could see his hand tightening on the gun’s handle and trigger — a split second before come hit his hip. A new rush of sexual energy joined the old subdued wave, helping to rapidly build up his own again.
Kolt pulled the gun away, placing it on the nightstand before leaning into Nero again. Pressing a kiss to Nero’s lips, he let the fae gets some of that metallic taste as well. He didn’t seem to fucking care, but he pushed Kolt back down onto the bed once more, his hand flat across Kolt’s chest as he pressed him down on the mattress — as if he needed to be restrained.
He hadn’t done anything yet. He wasn’t trying to affect Nero anymore, but the way the fae insistently pressed between his legs prompted a chuckle from him. “My appetite?” Kolt asked sweetly, but he brushed a smooth leg along the side of Nero’s ribcage.
“I will make you mine,” Nero promised as he pressed his cock inside of him a second time in short fucking order. “I’ll make you just how I want you.” He thrust hard into him, and Kolt gasped, grabbing Nero’s shoulders and gazing up at him.
He wet his lips, and Nero wrapped both arms around him before lifting him up off the bed enough to where he grabbed for the headboard to steady himself. It gave the fae a surface area to pound him against that wasn’t the fucking mattress. He urged Nero on, drawing him in closer with his legs, until Nero only had one arm around his lower back, the other gripping the edge of the headboard while he fucked Kolt slow and deep. He shoved in fast on occasion, but mostly just pressed Kolt lightly against the headboard he was trapped against.
Kolt didn’t feel trapped though. It felt fucking wonderful, and he moaned dutifully in pleasure with every deep thrust that nailed him a little more thoroughly to that bed. And he fed again like his life still depended on it, drawing deep from Nero’s energy, which seemed as fucking boundless as his stamina.
It was somewhere between one breathless kiss and the thrust that followed that the fae seemed to become aware of it, or at least of his rapidly fading energy.
“What did you do?” Nero asked him, driving his cock in rougher that time, provoking a gasp from him.
It was like deja vu, and Kolt wet his lips, driving his hips up to meet Nero’s thrust a little more eagerly. One hand slid down the fae’s chest, stroking and touching him just right — or so he thought, but Nero pulled out and backed away from him. He stayed close enough to grab Kolt’s ankle and keep him where he was — with his legs spread and his cock hard, wantonly lying on the bed.
“What are you doing to me, little Kolt?” Nero asked again.
Kolt couldn’t help the giddy chuckle. “Just getting what I need from you,” he explained, but no matter how casually he said it, it seemed to strike Nero hard.
“What the fuck, Kolt?” he said darkly.
Kolt only lifted up a shoulder in a shrug. “You’re fae. You can spare it,” he promised, putting his free foot on Nero’s thigh and sliding it up to his dick — only to have his other ankle caught in the fae’s strong hands as well.
There was something dangerous in Nero’s eyes. Beyond their usual crazy, there was now that something which Kolt had come to realize was uniquely fae.
“What?” he asked innocently as he slipped a hand down his stomach to his own cock. He gave it a leisurely few strokes to keep it at attention until he could motivate Nero back into action again.
“You’re feeding on me?” Nero asked, sounding an equal measure angry as he did disturbed.
Kolt wasn’t sure what he’d expected from an incubus, but he simply nodded, not interested in a biology lesson right then.
“You’ll stop it,” the fae ordered him, and he felt the snap of magic as his hand was wrenched away from his cock and held out at an angle by an otherworldly force.
“What’re you—” Kolt started to ask.
Nero yanked him closer to him by his ankles. “Up,” he ordered. “Sit up.”
Kolt didn’t get much of a chance to obey before magic pulled at his limbs — notably his arms, until he scrambled up to his knees before Nero, who looked him hard in the eye.
Kolt tried to reach for him but a strong force yanked both his arms back harshly until he felt a painful strain in his shoulders. Something intangible wrapped around them, from elbow to wrist, trapping his arms behind his back. “Nero—” Kolt objected, but Nero cut him off, both with magic and with his hand sliding over Kolt’s mouth.
“Shh,” Nero shushed him, placing a kiss on the back of his own hand. “We can still have fun, little Kolt. Don’t worry.” He pushed Kolt backwards.
Kolt struggled against the intangible bonds around his arm, yanking on them to no avail — and much to Nero’s delight.
“You’re not going to break something to slip out of this one, are you, little Kolt?” Nero crooned.
“Nero, please,” Kolt began. Before he could finish that plea, the man’s hand closed around his cock, stranding any objections he might’ve voiced right there. He arched up as much he could, shoving his dick into Nero’s grip.
“Don’t make me shut you up the hard way, Kolt,” Nero warned him, his voice like smooth honey. The fae shoved him again, though this time it was to turn him around. With leverage on his bound arms, Nero forced him down, bringing his ass automatically up.
Kolt hated how his body quivered, but he couldn’t stop it from happening. As Nero drove his cock back inside of him, an involuntary, shuddery moan escaped him.
Nero was arrogant — fucking amazing as a lover, but fucking stupid if he truly believed binding an incubus physically meant he was somehow safe…
Kolt leaned his cheek against the mattress, moaning again as he let the fae fuck him — happily continuing to siphon energy from him, greedily and without remorse now. The fucking arrogance and utter faith in the idea of his immortality would be the undoing of the fae, and the prospect only made the fuck hotter.
Chapter Twenty-Five
The strain on his own arms behind his back eased rapidly, allowing him to move his shoulders again. He felt like he was fucking glowing, on cloud nine, beyond cloud nine. His skin was tingling, his breathing easing as he continued to sap every last drop of Nero’s vitality from him.
“Arrogant fuck,” Kolt murmured unkindly, picking up the arm that was draped over his chest and carelessly tossing it aside. It moved almost bonelessly, falling in an uncomfortable looking angle over Nero’s face — a face that was paler than it had been, with glassy eyes and a mouth still open in a silent moan, frozen like that forever.
Kolt sat up, rolling his shoulders loose from the knot they threatened to get in from Nero’s little attempt at keeping him from feeding. He flexed his arms then slid out of bed.
He felt taller, and he glanced at the floor length mirror in the room, narrowing his eyes at his own physique. He was still beautiful, long limbs just as Leandro had liked him, but it felt different. He couldn’t place what it was, exactly.
It was probably a little bit of height, a slight change in his bone structure, the darkening of his hair—
/> He moved past the mirror to the adjoining bathroom, running a hot shower while gathering a towel and soap to wash the stench of fae off of him.
He’d fed enough to be bursting at the seams with energy. He’d consumed a human and a fae, and he didn’t want to stop.
Kolt felt good, sinfully so. He was powerful, a master in his own right, and no fae would be able to stop him with this kind of energy in his system.
The hot shower did nothing to make him feel more human. He still felt entirely too alive, and where at first all he’d wanted was to feed because he’d been hungry, he had different desires now.
If no one could stop him, why should he stop at all?
Nero’s wardrobe still proved a little large on him. The first shirt he grabbed looked hilarious on him, but in the back, he found a tailored shirt that seemed a little smaller around the waist. He could pull it off as a normal shirt. A belt fixed the problem of his waistline still being narrower than Nero’s — but if he had it his way, he could remedy all of this.
Nero was beautiful, conventionally handsome by human standards, unlike Leandro. He wouldn’t mind looking like him for a few days.
He grabbed a jacket from the wardrobe as well, one he had seen Nero wear at the casino once or twice. It was slim cut as well, shorter than his usual, making it a perfect fit on Kolt. It actually made him look broader in the shoulders, and he cast his reflection an approving look, shoving his hands into the pockets of the dark jeans. His fingers brushed along a card, and he cast a look down as he pulled out a business card.
It was glossy black, with hot pink curvy font scrawling Pussy Cat Club over the front.
On the back was the number of a taxi service, and he turned the card over once or twice more, glancing back at Nero’s cooling corpse on the bed.
It felt like a sign, and who was he to ignore the universe? Nero’s last parting gifts, a set of clothes, and his next meal ticket. He moved over to where Nero had discarded his clothes, rifling through the pockets and taking his phone and a wad of cash.
The cash went right back into his own pocket, but he unlocked the cell phone using Nero’s dead finger then called the taxi service to book a ride.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Bryce put the box down on the desk next to Percy, flipping the lid open to display the array of colorful donuts to the younger man.
“Eh? Eh?” he prompted with a grin.
Percy looked at the donuts, then back up at him, but Bryce didn’t dignify that skeptical look with an actual answer. He headed for the coffee pot that stood in the corner of the lab instead. It was conveniently placed close to the desk. Only scientists would take that into account; everywhere else, the coffee maker was on the far end of the office.
“What do you want?” Percy asked, resuming typing on the computer he was at.
“Why would I want anything?” Bryce retorted as he grabbed a mug and poured himself a cup of coffee.
“You brought donuts,” Percy pointed out, as deadpan as always.
Bryce shrugged, even though the man wouldn’t see that gesture. “I can’t bring donuts to eat with my buddy?” he asked as he wandered back. He selected a coffee-glazed donut and sat down in the chair of the other desk. It was comfortable, presumably Tobias’, but he’d never seen anyone work at the desk even though the computer was on. “Do you dual wield these?” he asked, gesturing at both computers in turn before taking a bite out of the donut.
“You and I are not buddies,” Percy said, ignoring his second question. “We’re barely co-workers. You just think we are because you need something, and no one here likes you.”
“Ouch, Perce. Ouch,” Bryce muttered with an offended frown.
“You may also have platonic feelings for me because I’ve been in your head,” Percy continued as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
Bryce stopped mid-chew, tilted his head, and gave the other man his best ‘are you fucking shitting me?’ look. “What,” he said shortly.
“I was in your head, that time when I helped heal your injuries. It leaves residue of a sort, like imprinting on baby birds. Don’t worry. It’ll wear off. It’ll just take time.”
He stared another moment, but Percy didn’t even look up from his work. Just another day at the office for him, apparently.
Bryce finally swallowed the mouthful of donut. “Right,” he said slowly. “That is not disconcerting at all.”
“It doesn’t affect you, other than—” Percy reached into the box of donuts. “Maybe buying me donuts,” he said with a fleeting smile at him.
“You’re not taking the dinosaur one?” Bryce cut in.
Percy blinked at him.
“I got that one especially for you,” he added.
Percy looked at the jelly donut in his hand, then back at Bryce. “Why?” he asked slowly.
“You’re a nerd. You love dinosaurs, right?” Bryce countered. “Maybe I know that because you were in my head,” he said, nodding. How else would he know that?
“I don’t… love... dinosaurs,” Percy said, still speaking slowly.
“Of course you do,” Bryce said with another nod.
“No. No more than any other person.”
“Really?” he wondered with a frown, taking another bite of his donut and sitting back in the chair.
“Really,” Percy confirmed. He stuck to his jelly donut, even though he put it aside.
The dinosaur-shaped one continued to be neglected.
“Fine,” Bryce muttered. “I’ll give it to Emma.”
“Emma may also not love dinosaurs,” Percy said.
“One of you loves dinosaurs,” Bryce assured him with a shrug. “So, tell me about—”
“I knew you wanted something,” Percy cut him off rudely.
“I’m making conversation!” he defended himself. “I was going to ask about your weekend.”
“It’s Thursday,” Percy replied, casting him an unimpressed look. “You were going to ask me about incubi. Again.”
Bryce drew in a breath and let it out slowly, aware he couldn’t really lie to Percy. “Maybe.”
“I may have to report this obsession of yours,” Percy said, but he did sit back, which Bryce had come to realize meant that he was willing to listen and answer stupid questions.
“Okay. Do what you must, but are there any records of incubi… mating for life?” Bryce asked with a frown.
“No. How would they?” Percy answered.
“I mean like… to a person. Are there like soulmates?” he clarified.
“Do you think you’re one?” Percy asked, drawing his eyebrows up.
“No, no, nothing like that. Just something the grunt said about Kolt, that he seemed happy with Leandro before. It got me thinking,” Bryce explained, taking a sip from his coffee.
“Well, fae are powerful beings. I imagine it wouldn’t suck for an incubus to be thriving on their energy,” Percy considered. “Just because he’s a slave doesn’t mean he’s unhappy, you know. There’s a whole subculture, even among humans—”
“I know,” Bryce cut him off. “I know about the subcultures. Let’s not go into them.” He shook his head. The last thing he needed was more moral grey area to work with — which was historically not his strongest suit. “Why are fae so revered? I mean, I know they’re like all powerful and shit, but what sets them apart from an incubus, or a werewolf, or you?” he wondered, hoping that if he could distill what made Leandro so much more than any other otherkin, he could get rid of him. Somehow. It wasn’t a very concrete plan yet.
Percy picked up the donut and took a bite before setting it back down. The raspberry filling oozing out onto the napkin reminded Bryce of coagulated blood, even under the harsh laboratory lighting. “Connection to the Otherworld,” Percy said through the mouthful. He swallowed. “Their magic isn’t like mortal magic, so it’s hard to counter.”
“Mortal magic?” Bryce asked, frowning. He hadn’t found this jargon in the database he’d been prowling through.
“I know they’re immortal, but that can’t be all.”
Licking his fingers, Percy considered. “Mortals are held back by what we believe is possible,” he said. “We know we have limited lifespans, limited amounts of energy, and so on. But the fae…” He shook his head. “They don’t have that. It’s sort of a basic principle. Humanity is limited by its beliefs. The fae don’t believe there’s anything they can’t do, so…” He shrugged.
Bryce drew up his eyebrows before frowning. “So if you can convince a fae of their limitations, theoretically… you could neuter them?” he suggested dryly.
Percy blinked at him. “We don’t neuter—” He pulled a piece of his donut away from the rest, leaving a mess all over the napkin. “Yes. It doesn’t mean they can do everything, or that they have unlimited power, but they’re dangerous. Add their lack of humanity, morality, whatever you want to call it, and it’s just best to be wary of them.” He popped the chunk of donut into his mouth.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. They’re mean and scary and psychotic. I got the memo, trust me.” The grunt wouldn’t let him forget it for a fucking second. “Are they the only ones? What about an incubus? They’re resilient, you say. Are they immortal like the fae? Connected to the Otherworld?”
“No,” Percy said. “Well, not that I know. I think your incubus—” he began.
Bryce held up a hand to make him pause. “He ain’t mine, okay?”
“I think your incubus,” Percy continued without shame, “just has taken after the fae because of his exposure to Leandro.”
“So, how old do they get then?”
Gideon had said Kolt had been with Leandro for a long time, but Bryce didn’t like the idea of the incubus having to stay with him for the entire length of his natural life. He didn’t think the contract was expiring any time soon, or Kolt wouldn’t have been so hell-bent on leaving.
“No one knows,” Percy answered, painfully unhelpful. “We’ve never gotten one in for close examination. We only know of them like we know of Kolt: from a distance and with a lot of disinformation. They don’t like sharing, and they lie. A lot.”
