Village of the Full Moon Curse

Brian climbed into Carl’s truck, reached into his right pants pocket, and retrieved the keys, placing them into the ignition switch and starting the engine up. He sat still in the seat for a moment as he gave a quick glance at the village and thought about his last few days there. Sadness fell over him briefly as he thought about Carl and how life would change for himself now, without his good friend to hunt and fish with anymore, and how devastated Carl’s wife sounded on the telephone after he informed her of Carl’s death from the bed and breakfast cottage. He felt guilty for lying to both Jessica and Nancy about Carl’s cause of death, but also knew that he had no choice in the matter. At least Nancy will always be around for Jessica to help give her emotional support and comfort, he thought before putting the truck’s transmission into gear and driving back toward Fairville, with Circa slowly disappearing behind him. Suddenly, after a brief glance again in the mirror, he slammed hard onto the brakes, shoved the transmission into park, and leaped outside, while staring intently with disbelief, back toward the old wooden bridge. “Carl? Carl?” he shouted! “are you there?” Brian rubbed his eyes and shook his head in frustration before slowly climbing back into the truck. “I must either be going crazy or hallucinating!” he murmured. “I could have sworn that I saw Carl standing on the bridge and waving goodbye at me, but I guess it was all in my imagination. It’s time to go home!” Circa will quickly fade away in my rearview mirror, but my memories there will remain with me for the rest of my life, thought Brian with one last glance as he continued driving away. Rest in peace, Carl. Rest in peace, Grizz, my buddy.
