“Yes!” A sexy little smile tugs at her lips.

“I know what you did.” I ease out and thrust back into her. She squeezes my ass and wraps her legs around me, and there’s no stopping the force that is between us. I shift my hips and move in and out of her. Her body shivers as her climax builds. I push deeper, and we both give in to each other at the same time.

I pull out of her and roll to my back, my breaths equal to hers. She turns on her side, and her mouth is on my nipple. “That was amazing.” Her hand trails down my stomach and her kiss follows until she’s straddling me. “Do you think we could do that again?” She licks her lips.

“You might need to give me a minute.” I chuckle.

She crawls up my body until her breasts are mere inches from my mouth. “I thought someone said, ‘now is not the time for laughing.’” She smirks.

“It’s not,” I say, flipping her over and making love to her until neither one of us will be able to stand.

  Chapter 16

“That was the last one.” Reese flops down on the couch, looking sexy in her cut-off denim shorts and my faded Tennessee t-shirt tied in a knot, showing her midriff.

“It’s only taken you six months to get rid of all those boxes.” I hand her a frozen, fruity drink.

“Mmmm…what’s this?” She takes the red solo cup from me.

“I’m trying my hand at daiquiris. It’s a celebration of sorts.”

“What’s the special occasion?” She takes a sip of the ice-cold drink.

  “You moving in with me…”

She giggles and licks the drink from her lips. “Little late, don’t you think. I moved in months ago.”

“You didn’t let me finish.” I sit next to her. “You moving in and all your boxes moving out. Our place actually looks bigger without them stacked against the living room wall.”

“Our place. I like the sound of that. Sorry it took me so long. Between work, packing, moving, unpacking, and traveling back and forth between here and work, it took longer than I expected.”

“That and I don’t think you really wanted to give up so many of your things. We could’ve rented a storage unit or bought a bigger house.”

She sets her cup on the coffee table and climbs into my lap. “I love this place, and I can’t picture you anywhere else. This floating house in your little corner of the world in Sausalito suits you. Besides, I wanted to get rid of things I didn’t really need. And, it all went to a good cause. I sold it all and donated the money to the foundation for the blind.” She snuggles into my neck, and I wrap my arms around her.

“I’m so proud of you, but how are you ever going to manage without your expensive purses and shoes.” I kiss the top of her head.

“I have all I need right here with you.”

“Greg buying a satellite office for you will help things too. We’ll have more time together.”

“I like the sound of that.”

“Tell me again how he ended up purchasing the building next to my studio.” I chuckle.

She crawls out of my lap and picks up her drink for another sip. “I know, right. It was such a coincidence that it became available.” Her lips curl into a mischievous grin. “It will be so easy for you to funnel all your clients over to me.”

I open my mouth to say something, and she laughs.

“I know. You’ve informed me many times that I’m not your boss, yet I have the inside track.” She squeezes my thigh with her hand.

“That may be true, but you know that’s not the way I operate.”

“That’s one thing I like about you…well not initially, you are honest and fair, and I love that you look out for your clients. You do what’s best for them no matter what the cost is to you. That’s why you’re so successful.” She draws her legs up on the couch, and I wrap my arm around her.

“You’ve come a long way. You’re still a handful at times, but I love the life we’ve created together.”

“I do still love a good fight,” she snickers and wrinkles her nose.

“No, you like fighting naked.” My laughter fills the room.

“Good thing I went back and instituted the clause that if we have naked fighting, it has to be followed by hot, crazy, makeup sex.”

“Unless the argument is in the elevator and you get caught.” I snort.

“That was funny, but I don’t think the fireman that had to rescue us saw the humor in it.”

“Oh, they did, trust me. I can still see your face. It was the color of that cherry in your drink,” I howl.

“It was hands down the hottest sex we’ve had.”

“I don’t know. I think every time with you is the best.”

“Aww, you’re so sweet.” She places a quick kiss on my cheek.

“We still need to look at our calendars and schedule a week off together. We both need a vacation.”

“How about next month? Greg and Grace will be back from Greece, and he said he’d cover the office since I’ve been handling things on my own.”

“Pick a week, and I’ll clear my schedule. Any idea of where you’d like to go?”

“I’d be just as happy lounging on the couch next to you.”

“I would too, but I want to do something special. You deserve it, and so do I.”

“We could go back to the cottage you rented on the beach.”

“Nope, not good enough. How about Fiji?”

She sits up. “You, Mister I never want to go anywhere, wants to travel to Fiji?”

“I want to go with you, spending our days lying on the beach and you running around in a string bikini with coconut oil glistening all over your body. What man wouldn’t love that?”

“Oh, can I talk you into wearing a speedo?” Her eyes light up.

“No way in hell,” I scoff.

  “You’re no fun.” She pouts.

I hear a truck in the driveway. “Is that the donation truck just now leaving?”

She hops off the couch and looks out the window. “I almost forgot.”

  “Forgot what?”

“I have a surprise for you.”

“For me. I like the sound of that.” I wiggle my eyebrows.

“Don’t go getting all excited. It’s not the sex swing you wanted. I most definitely would not have that delivered to the house.” She opens the door. “Stay right there, don’t move.” She steps out and closes the door behind her.

God, there is no telling what that woman is up to. She keeps me on my toes daily, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I can truly say that I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time. It’s not always easy with her, but I’m sure I’m no picnic either, yet we seem to make it work.

The door flies open, and a yellow lab comes charging through the door. Reese is on the other end of the leash. The dog charges toward me and puts his front paws and head in my lap.

“Who do we have here?” I rub his head.

  “This is our new puppy.”

“Puppy? You do know this is a full-grown dog?” I chuckle.

“Yes, but he’s our puppy.” She sits on the floor next to him, and all seventy-five or so pounds climbs in her lap. “You’re so cute!” She talks in a child’s voice.

  “Where did you find him?”

“Her,” she corrects me. “This puppy…I know not a real puppy…”

  “A fake puppy,” I tease.

“Our puppy has quite the tale.” She slaps her leg, laughing. “You see what I did there…quite the tail.” She literally snorts, and I enjoy her laughter.

  “Funny girl.”

“Any-who, she has traveled all over this country living in a conversion van with her owner. She’s hiked and seen more places than most people.” She scratches her behind the ears. “She’s had a great life, and then the saddest thing happened. Her owner died of a heart attack on one of their trips. This dog stayed by his side until a passerby found them. She’ been living in a foster home since.”

“How do you know all this?”
r />   “Her story popped up on the feed on my computer, and I couldn’t resist, so I called right away to see if she still needed a home.” She glances up at me. “You do like dogs, right?”

“It’s a little late to be asking me that now.” I laugh and get on the floor with them. “I haven’t had a dog since I was a kid.”

“She could go to work with you and become your mascot.”

“I can picture it now. Wilde Recording Studios and Yellow Dog Productions.” I hold up my hands like I’m picturing a sign.

“Oh, I like that.” She playfully swats me on the arm and the dog barks.

“That’s a good girl. You protect me from the mean old lady.” I scratch her back, and her leg starts to move.

“I rescue you, and you protect him?” She feigns hurt. “And don’t call me old, Mr. Wilde.”

“What are we going to call her?”

“That’s the best part. She already has a name.”

“Are you going to tell me, or is she?” I quirk an eyebrow at her.

She holds up a red, shiny dog tag hanging from her collar. “Look for yourself.”

I flip it over and stop breathing. “Gypsy,” I choke out her name.

“When her name came across my computer, I knew we had to have her. She’s lived the life of a Gypsy.”

  I blink a few times.

“Are you okay? I thought that you’d like it.” She rubs her hand down my arm.

“It’s…it’s perfect.” A smile warms my heart and face. “Gypsy,” I say again, and she stands, licking my face.

  “Look, she loves you already.”

I calm the dog down, and she curls up in my lap. “I love you, Reese. Thank you for the gift.”

  Chapter 17

“Gypsy is doing great. Grace loves her so much she’s even thinking about getting a dog.”

“Greg has to be going crazy with her in that penthouse.” I chuckle.

“Nope. Grace says that Gypsy has him wrapped around his finger. He even took her to the park to play fetch.” She takes off her wide brim hat and applies lotion to her face.

“I’m glad that they agreed to watch her so we could make this trip.” I lean back in my lounge chair on the beach and watch Reese apply suntan lotion. “Let me know if you need any help with that.”

She rolls over and tosses me the bottle. “You can do my back.” She lays flat and wiggles her ass.

I sit on the side of my chair and apply lotion in my hands. “I ordered you a daiquiri .”

“I hope it tastes as good as what you make at home.”

The lotion goes on smoothly, but I take extra time massaging it into her back.

“Mmm…that feels good, ” she moans.

“Quit making that sound. You’re making my dick hard.”

She lifts her head and slides her gold-colored sunglasses down her nose. “I like the sound of that.” She licks her lips.

“I’ll have to cover it with your floppy hat.” I smack her ass, then apply lotion along her bikini line, and she giggles.

“I’m sure that’s not going to help your hard-on one bit.”

I snap the top closed on the suntan lotion and lay facedown in the chair, groaning.

“I’d let you borrow my hat,” she teases.

The bikini-wearing waitress sets out drinks on the small round table between us. “Put it on my tab,” I tell her, not wanting to move an inch.

Reese rolls to her back and raises her lounger to sip on her cold drink. “These are good.”

“Do you want to go for a swim?”

“You just put lotion all over me. I’d like to get some sun on my white body.”

I push out of my chair. “Not too much. I’d hate for my whiskers to rub against your sunburn.” She grabs the lotion and applies more to her legs. I run off and dip into the crystal clear blue water. I turn toward the shore and take in the private, adults-only resort. Colorful beach towels are laid out under bright red umbrellas, some towels lie under cabanas. The sky is a velvety blue unencumbered by buildings and smog. The surf crashes on the shore in a beautiful tune that I could listen to for hours on end. I close my eyes and draw in the smell of the briny sea air, bookmarking this moment in my mind. This is going to be the perfect vacation. I have plans for Reese that will come as a total shock to her. I can’t wait to see her reaction. I check the time to make sure we stay on schedule.

I float in the water a while longer and head back to the shore. Reese has untied her suit in the back and is lying on her stomach, sound asleep. I take the end of her chair and scoot it over into the shade. It wakes her up, and she turns over.

  “What are you doing?”

“You might want to tuck those girls back in.” I point to her chest.

“Oh shit!” She sits up, covering herself. “Wait, I saw someone sunning topless.” She drops her hands and lies down.

“Oh no you don’t.” I pick up my towel and throw it over her. “I don’t want men checking out your tits.” I scowl.

“What about women? Would you be okay with that?” She waggles her eyebrows.

“Only if I can watch,” I tease back.

She tosses the towel on my chair.

“I’m serious, Reese. Cover up.” I throw it back over her.

“It’s harmless. I don’t want tan lines.” She shoves the towel behind her head.

“If you don’t cover up, I swear to god I’m going to throw you over my shoulder and carry you back to the room.” I cross my arms over my chest.

“You wouldn’t dare!” Her eyebrows draw together.

  “Try me!”

“You could strip and lay next to me. I wouldn’t care if other women drool over your junk.”

  I grab her feet.

“Okay, okay, I’ll cover up. Jeez.” She adjusts her top and ties it around her neck.

I sit next to her and drink my melted daiquiri, swirling the multicolored paper umbrella around in the glass. “How about we do a little shopping in town. You could find a hot little number to dance in tonight.”

“That sounds like fun…dancing in your arms.”

“I made reservations at the restaurant that floats out on the water. We’ll eat and then dance the night away.”

  “Among other things.” She winks.

We enjoy a few more hours in the sun before we go back to our cottage tucked away on one end of the resort. We shower, among other things, like she suggested, and head to town on bikes.

“Do you like this one?” Reese holds up a bright yellow sundress.

I scrunch my nose. “Not at all.”

She grins. “Me either. I was testing you.”

“Please don’t ask me if something makes your ass look big.” I chuckle.

“You’d tell me, right?” She contorts her body to look over her shoulder at her ass.

I tug her into my arms. “You have a nice ass, baby.”

“Now I’m beginning to doubt your honesty.” She playfully swats me in the chest.

Over her shoulder, I see a red strapless dress. “That’s the one I like.” I turn her around. “Red would look beautiful on you, and it brings out the strawberry highlights of your hair.”

She picks it up to get a better look. “I like the silky feel of it.”

I step up close to her ear. “Imagine how it will feel when I peel it off of you.”

She swallows hard. “Sold!” she almost shouts and takes it to the saleslady.

We spend a little time in the bakery. Reese can’t resist sugary goodness. I always get a kick out of watching her scarf down sweets, but then I end up with a hard-on when she starts licking her fingers. “I’m going to get a box to take back with us.”

“You do remember we’re on bikes?”

  “I’ll manage.”

She did, with one hand, and as soon as we made it back, she ate them all. I step into the bathroom and shave. I slip on a pair of dress slacks, a long sleeve white button-down and a red tie I purchased when Reese wasn’t looking. It matc
hes her dress perfectly. Taking out the black velvet box I stashed in my suitcase, I slip it deep inside my pocket. Then I write a quick text to Greg. When I come out, Reese is wearing the red dress.

“You look gorgeous.” I wrap my arms around her and grasp her ass.

“So do you. I didn’t know you brought dress clothes. And that tie is sexy as hell, Mr. Wilde.”

“I wanted us to have a nice evening out.”

“Are you going to sweep me off my feet?” Her eyes glimmer.

  “God, I hope so.”

“I hate to tell you, but you’ve already done that. Thank you for bringing me here.”

“It’s all my pleasure.” I kiss her perfectly painted red lips. “Let’s get out of here before this dress ends up on the floor.” I tug her hand to get her out of the room.

“That wouldn’t be such a bad thing, would it? The red color would look good on the floor,” she says, looking back into the room.

“I’d love nothing more, but I have plans for you.”

She tucks her hand into the crevice of my elbow. “I love the sound of that.”

There’s a boardwalk that leads to the restaurant sitting out over the water. It has a tiki-style roof with white lights surrounding it. The inside is very elegant compared to the outside. The hostess leads us to a private corner with a large glass window where you can see the stars lighting up over the water.

“This is so romantic,” she says as I pull out her chair for her.

The waitress takes our drink orders and hands us the menu. “I’m having the Dungeness crab.” I lay my menu on the table.

  “I’m thinking lobster.”

The waitress comes back over, takes our order, and lights the candle in the middle of the table. I take Reese’s hand in mine. I start to say something and her phone rings in her purse.
