Kohaku closed the bound book swiftly lest Sawyer read his secrets. “Every day since my coronation. It’s a habit now, I guess.”

“So is going outside and tending the horses?” Sawyer smiled. Ah, he knew Kohaku all too well, even if everyone said it wasn’t his job to do such tasks.

“And water the garden.” Kohaku nodded. He stood from his desk and approached Sawyer still dressed in his Anscien guard uniform. “Training late tonight?”

Sawyer let out a breath and began stripping away at the armor. “As always. You’ll be pleased to know progress is going smoothly. Every one of those trainees has improved tenfold since we started this new procedure.”

“Wonderful!” Kohaku eyed him, enjoying the show as the heavy armor pieces came off, followed by the thick winter-warm overshirt. All those pieces hid Sawyer’s best features, his muscular chest, and smooth abs, and once his uniform was off, Kohaku couldn’t help but approach.

As he threw his overshirt to the floor, he lowered his head, lips in a fine line, seemingly frustrated. Kohaku froze in front of Sawyer.

  “What is it?”

  Sawyer’s shoulders slumped.

“You’re thinking of him again, aren’t you?” Kohaku had seen that look from Sawyer for the last week since returning to castle life.

“I just... can’t believe he hasn’t come back.” Sawyer sighed. “Do you think he’s well?”

Stepping closer, Kohaku took Sawyer’s hands in his. “I’m sure Fithel is just fine, if not a little drunk. He’s probably sitting seaside at one of Jinchun’s best taverns right now.”

With the attempt at a joke, Sawyer’s lips curled up into a coy smile. “I suppose you’re right. He was always strong enough to withstand almost anything. Even a blow like that couldn’t have taken him down.”

Kohaku squeezed Sawyer’s hand. “Of course. Now, how about this...” He eased in, hot breath on wafting between them. “I’ve had enough of this king business.” At the admission, Sawyer gave him a wide-eyed glance. “Can I just be plain ole’ Kohaku, dragon summoner, for this one night?”

Sawyer chuckled. “Of course.” He threw his arms around Kohaku’s body, suddenly lifting him off the ground. Before Kohaku knew it, he landed on the bed with his half-dressed lover straddling him. “And I will be your knight in shining armor.”

Heat brewed through Kohaku, from his cheeks to his chest and straight to his groin. “For you’ve swept me off my feet. Will you lay your lips on mine?”

“You’ve certainly developed a sweet skill for poetry!” Sawyer winked. “And I will explore not only your mouth but your entire body.” Sawyer bent down, pressing his lips to Kohaku’s.

This night. At last! Hopefully, they could have plenty more in this sea of doubt. This time of war...

  About Azalea Moone

Azalea Moone is a… No, no, no. That was my old author bio. The tedious bit of text told my approximate age, what I write, what I enjoy, blah blah blah.

  Yeah, boring.

  How about this:

I love spending hours writing about adventure, fantasy creatures, and M/M romance. Some of it’s steamy. Some of it’s a slow burn.

  Oracle’s Light

A year after revered ex-captain of the royal guard Fithel decided to retire to the open sea, he finds himself a captive on a pirate ship.

His jail partner isn’t just a shy, silver-haired young lad. He is an oracle, with rumors spread across the land about his ability to purify a plot full of treasure from thousands of demons. Something that the pirates desperately want to use him for.

Anwyl is only a mortal man with extraordinary powers, those he does not fully understand himself. If it's magic—it could be dangerous. Fithel stays with Anwyl as a bodyguard, to protect him against those who wish to abuse him, but he's also slowly falling for the oracle.
