Well, that didn’t make him very happy. He asked my why and after I explained it all to him, he told me that I would not be doing this without him by his side and he asked me for Janis’ address. Somehow, I knew better than to do anything other than give him this address. Now that I did that, I better tell Janis before he’s knocking on the door. Before I got halfway to where Janis and Constantine stood, William popped into the room. Uh oh. Janis doesn’t look happy.

“Would someone like to explain to me why William Sarducci, my ex by the way, just popped into my living room?” Oh fuck, this was worse than I thought. He ex? William saw me and ran to my side. “I’m here to make sure my mate does not get killed in whatever mess you and Tempest have gotten her into.” For the first time since I’d known Janis she looked like she didn’t know what to say. “Well, this is an interesting twist. Would you like to explain this, Kali?”

“William is the vampire that Mandy set me up with, the one that she said is my one true mate. He seems to believe that Mandy is correct, and I am his mate. Our date was set up for tomorrow night, so I had to call him to cancel it. When I did, he made me tell him why, and said he wouldn’t let me do it without being by my side.” As soon as I was finished, Janis started clapping her hands. And not some smart-ass slow clap either.

“This is great news! Kali, I can assure you if Mandy says Liam is your mate, he’s your mate. Don’t doubt that. As for you Liam, it’s about time you found your true mate, you old vampire.” William, well, I guess Liam, chuckled at Janis’ comments. “It’s nice to see you again too, Janis. It appears that I had to wait for my mate to be born and then be turned. You know how slow it can all be. Constantine, great to see you again. Am I guessing right that you have both also found your true mates?”

Janis put her arm around Constantine’s face and looked up at him as if he were God. “Yes, you’re guessing right. Okay, no more time to catch up. Or for you two to get to know each other. Are we all caught up on what’s going on?” Everyone murmured yes, and we all found a place to sit so we could plan how we were going to do this. It took almost two solid hours before all the plans were sorted out, and once that was over, Janis told everyone to find a place where they could sleep, since we would all be staying here for now.

She then told me to take a little time and go out with Liam so we could get to know each other a little bit. She didn’t have to tell either of us twice. We were practically out the door before Janis got the words out of her mouth. Once we were out on the sidewalk, Liam walked over to a Porsche. Yeah, an actual Porsche. I knew he was rich, but seeing evidence of it was awesome, I’m not going to lie! He held the door open for me, so I could get in. rich and a gentleman.

“So, Kali, where would you like to go? Knowing Janis we don’t have a lot of time, but I’d like to take you some place quiet where we can get to know each other a little bit. We can go wherever you’d like.” Did he just tell me we could go wherever I wanted to go? No man had ever done that before. “Can we go down to the beach? I know a nice quiet part where you can park, and we can talk.” “Just tell me which way to drive.”

Once we were parked in a nice secluded part of the beach, Liam put on some music and pulled me close to him. “So, young vampire, what could a beautiful young woman such as yourself want with an old man like me?” I couldn’t help but giggle. Yeah, I actually giggle. If you’re thinking wait, Kalista doesn’t seem like the giggling type, you’d be right. I’m not. Usually. What was this man doing to me?

We sat there, looking out at the water, when we weren’t looking into each other’s eyes, and got to know each other. I’m not sure what this man could ever see in me. Not only was he rich and gorgeous, he was also a genius. Oh, and did I mention he gave 25% of what he earned every year to charity? There is no way in hell this man could be my true mate. I tried telling him that, and he silenced me with a kiss. Our first kiss. Man let’s add great kisser to his list of attributes.

Once he finished kissing me, he pulled me onto his lap. “Kalista, I knew the minute I saw you that you were my true mate. This is all new to you, so you may not have noticed it like I did. But trust me, we’re meant to be together, and we will be. For the rest of our very long lives. I know this is going to sound crazy, but the minute I looked into your eyes, I fell deeply in love with you. I couldn’t leave you now if I wanted to. Not that I would ever want to.” I couldn’t help but getting tears in my eyes. I looked him in the eyes and told him I believed it completely, because I felt the same way when I looked into his eyes.

After about another half hour went by of us talking and getting to know each other my phone rang. I looked at it and saw it was Janis. “I think we’re being summoned back to Janis’.” My heart leapt for joy when he sighed, because I could hear the sadness in that sigh. “I guess if we have to. But this isn’t over. I would like for you to move in with me once this is all over. It’s where you belong, by my side and in my bed.” This man is everything I ever wanted. I’ll never know how I ever got so lucky for him to be mine. “I’d be happy to do that. I don’t want to spend any time without you that I don’t have to.”

  Janis

“Now that we’re all back here, I have some bad news. Tempest just called me, and she got another note from the rogue werewolf. He plans on killing another human within the next 48 hours. He gave some information about where he is, but not a lot. The good news is he is here in New York City. The bad news is he’s in one of the biggest cities in the country.”

“Penelope and Lucas have taught Madison some tricks, and she is able to access her magick. She also has her magick beanies which were made with the magick of the hybrid’s. They work best on nights when there is a full moon, but they will also work on nights like tonight. They will make it easier for her to access her magick, and they will allow her to know automatically how to use that magick. Penelope and Lucas will also be wearing the beanies. They already know how to wield their magick, but the beanies will enhance that magick.”

“Ollie and Maggie have taught Angela how to access her magick, and have taught her enough that she’ll be able to assist us. However, Angela, like I already told you, you will only assist us with your magick. I just found you, and I’m not losing you now. Plus, it’s only fair that I help you find your mother. So, you’re going to do what I ask, correct?” Uh-oh. Angela doesn’t look happy. “Angela, make no mistake. This is not because I think you’re incapable of helping in other ways. I know that you are. But I’m not going to be able to fight well if I’m worried about you, so please?”

As soon as she saw my face, my niece shook her head yes. Thank the Goddess. I’m not ready to lose her or Madison, and I know Madison will be safe. “Okay, Liam, I’m guessing you’ll be fighting by Kali’s side once we find this werewolf?” Liam had the coldest smile on his face, I pity the werewolf with this vampire after him. “You guessed right, Janis. I have no doubt that Kalista can handle herself, but I’d feel better if we fought side by side.” “Of course, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I’ll of course be fighting with Constantine, and Julie, you’ll be with Madison, Penelope, and Lucas. Alex, you’ll be with Ollie, Maggie, and Angela. I ask you the same thing I asked Angela. Please be safe. You’re the only human here, and trust me, if I thought there was any way for me to stop you from going out there, I would.” Alex smiled at me, instead of telling me off. That was a good sign. “I’ll be careful, Janis. I’ll be fine. We’re all going to make it out of this alive, are we all clear on that?” Everyone yelled out yes at the top of our lungs. We were going to do this. We were going to save human kind, again.

“Okay, everyone. Over here on the table is a map of the city and we are all going to search different parts. If we have any hope of finding this wolf, we need to spread out. Take a look at the map and find the area your pair or group has been assigned, then head on out. Each pair or group has at least one person who is able to talk telepathically, so if you come across the wolf or if you need help,
reach out to everyone else. Am I clear?” A chorus of yes rang out in the air. Let’s go!

Constantine and I were one of the pairs instead of groups. I had no doubt that we could handle anything that came our way, but both of us being able to talk telepathically made me feel better. We headed out to the area around Central Park. I choose that area for us because a park the size of Central Park seemed like a good place for a rogue werewolf to hide. It also had a lot of people, even at night, so it would also be a good place to find a victim.

I broke up the city as best as I could in a way that we could be able to cover as much of it as possible. I knew we wouldn’t be able to cover the whole city, so I had to be strategic in the areas I choose. I’m pretty sure we’ll find this werewolf in one of these areas. I prayed to the Goddess that we would. If bodies kept piling up, the police would announce to the public that they were being attacked by supernaturals. That wouldn’t end well for anyone in the supe community. Not at all. We had no choice but to find this wolf before anyone else was killed.

  Madison

It was bad enough that I had to digest all of this new information about myself, but I also had to work this newfound magick before I even knew how to wield it. The beanie I had one helped a lot. As soon as I put it on, I felt the magick deep in my bones. I no longer had any doubt that any of this was true. I’m really a baddass witch/vampire hybrid who would never die. How cool am I? Yeah, I know, I don’t have time to think about that right now. Janis sent Julie, Penelope, Lucas, and I out to the Greenwich Village area. Actually about 20 miles out of the Village, then heading into it.

“Julie are you okay, I don’t want you doing anything crazy. I happen to like having you around.” What the hell? I blushed when I said that. Damn it, I’m a badass, badasses don’t blush! But that smile on her face when she looked back at me. I would do anything for that smile, even blush. “I’m good, Madison. I want to help. How about I don’t do anything crazy if you don’t do anything crazy? I happen to like having you around too.”

“It’s all good Julie, remember I can’t die.” Lucas took that minute to interrupt. Okay you two, we don’t have time for flirting. Get your heads in the game. This is important, we need to find this werewolf and take him out. Once it’s all over, you can flirt all you want.” Really, Lucas? Why they hell did he just say all of that?

“Dude!!! Really?” Julie just laughed a little bit. She didn’t seem embarrassed at all. Well, if she’s okay with what he just said, so am I. “Alright, let’s move it! We need to get this over and done with, so we can get on with our lives.” We all stuck together as we searched. Penelope was a werewolf tracker because of her excellent scenting abilities. Supposedly she could scent a werewolf from over a mile away. I hope that was true. I wanted to get this over and done with and maybe take Julie out on an actual date.

  Kalista

Liam and I had the upper east side. All of the werewolf’s victims so far were found in less affluent areas, but they needed to cover as many areas as possible. Liam’s able to use telepathy, so he would be the one notifying the others of we came across the wolf or if we had any trouble. I was hoping for the former. I really wanted to get this over with. I no longer have any doubt that Liam and I are mates, and I want to spend some time alone with him getting to know him even better.

I can’t wait to move in with him. Not because he lived in a penthouse on Park Avenue. Or because he probably had every possible amenity and would make sure I have everything I ever want. No, that’s not why at all. I’m not going to lie, that stuff is going to be nice. But I would love Liam if he had nothing and we lived in a shack in Central Park. He is what I want, not his possessions or his money. He was everything I ever wanted, and I couldn’t wait to spend my extremely long life.

We were walking down the street when Liam grabbed my hand to stop me. “Kalista, we’re going to find this wolf and end him. Whether it be us that finds him or another part of our group, I have no question in my mind that this will all be over tonight. But I need you to promise me that you won’t take any unnecessary chances. I can’t possibly live without you, and I know if anything happens to you, I will end my life. There’s no question in my mind about that. I know it’s hard to kill us, so I know you’re going to be fine, but I need you to be careful, okay?”

Once again, I got tears in my eyes because of something sweet this man had said to me. Damn, I’m turning into a softie. “Liam, I cannot wait to begin our life together. You can be sure that I won’t do anything dangerous. I already love you more than life itself, and I won’t take a chance on losing what we have. But I have to ask you to be careful too. I know with your age you’re much harder to kill than most vampires. And it’s not easy to kill the rest of us. But I still have to ask you not to take any unnecessary chances. I love you, Liam.”

  Janis

Constantine and I started our search a few blocks from Central Park to cover as much area as possible. It took us no time to get into Central Park and we were only a little ways in when Constantine looked at me and pointed ahead. He didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to tip the wolf off that we knew where he was.

I squeezed my mate’s hand which was my sign to him that I was going to call everyone else. I was an old vampire, and Constantine was even older than me, so we could handle ourselves. But we don’t know anything about this werewolf and were taking no chances. We walked the opposite way of where we now knew the werewolf was. We didn’t want him to have any idea that we were looking for him until everyone else had arrived.

We walked over to an old elm tree that was our meeting point. We were there less than a minute when our group started to pop in. Since we wanted to be as quiet as possible, Constantine started telling the rest of our crew where the were was telepathically. Normally humans couldn’t hear when supes talked telepathically, but Alex had been taking some of Ollie’s blood for a while, so she was slowly starting to have some powers. Hearing the group talking telepathically was one of those powers.

Once we were all clear on where the werewolf was and what we were going to do, we broke up again and all walked over to the area that we needed to be in. We wanted to surround the wolf so he would have less of a chance of escaping. If we all came in at the same spot, he could run away. There were enough of us that we could completely surround him. He would have no place to run.

Between all of us, we had a lot of magick. Whether it be witchcraft or vampire magick didn’t matter. All that mattered was we had some pretty powerful magick. There is no way that one werewolf, no matter how powerful he may be, could take us all on. It didn’t take long for the mutt to come out from his hiding spot. First, he tried to push out some magick at us and when that didn’t work he made a run for it.

He tried to escape, I have to give him credit for that. But it didn’t work. He was tied up in powerful witchcraft before he got more than a couple of feet. He tried to fight it, but there was nothing he could do. We all surrounded him and held hands while Lucas placed one of his hands on the werewolf’s head and we popped down to Hell. Most of us have been down here a few times, but it was Madison, Angela and Kalista’s first time visiting. They both looked confused when we got there.

Madison was the first to speak. “Wait, I thought we were bringing him to Hell. Where did we end up popping to?” Okay, I probably shouldn’t have laughed at her, but I remember my first visit to Hell, and I thought the same thing. “Madison, we’re in Hell. I know who would have thought that Hell had an all white reception area, with pink leather chairs. Some idiot let Tempest decorate this place. No one thought she would do this. Just be glad we’re only here to drop this loser off. Trust me, the rest of Hell is even worse than this pink and white mess.”

“Why didn’t someone tell me she popped in? Really, people, I thought you had my back. Especially you, Constantine.” They all laughed at me, even Constantine. How dare they? “Janis, you’ve been complaining about my decorating skills for years, and I’m kind of tired of it. May
be you need to spend some quality time down here with me?” Oh shit! That would never do. “I’m so sorry, Tempest. I won’t let it happen again.”

“Sure, you won’t. Do I look like I was born yesterday?” She could be such an ass at times. “Well, now that you ask…” My mate stopped me there. I don’t think he wanted me stuck in Hell for who knows how long. “Honey, I don’t believe that was an actual question. How about we surrender the rogue wolf to Satan and we go home?” I normally hated to be cut off, but my gorgeous mate had a point. Getting him home was on my immediate to-do list.

Although Madison and Kalista wanted a tour of Hell, once we handed over the wolf we high tailed it out of there and went back to my apartment. Once we were there, I learned that Kali was going to be moving in with Liam. While I wasn’t surprised, I was going to miss her. I had grown used to having she and Madison around. Well, Angela could stay in Madison’s room if she wanted to, but if she wanted to redo my office into her new bedroom, she could do that.

I have a feeling she’ll go with having her own bedroom, especially if she and Madison agreed to my plan. I was hoping that Angela would sell her house and she and Madison would live in my apartment. Technically it was an apartment, but it was bigger than Angela’s house. So, they would have plenty of room.

But right now Constantine was trying to get my attention. “Honey, can we talk for a minute?” He has to know I could never say no to him. I walked as fast as I could over to him. “What’s up, my love?” He looks nervous. What could he be nervous about? “Well, I was wondering. Would you move in with me? I’ve been tired of being in that big house by myself for a long time, but before now there was no one that I wanted to live there with me. Until now.”
