Cain (Bones MC 1)

“I have something for you.” Giving her another soft kiss, Cain rolled off her. He crossed the room to his closet where he removed the plastic from a jacket there. With the garment in his hands, Cain returned and handed it to her.

He found himself holding his breath as she examined it. On the back was the Bones insignia. The top rocker -- the curved patch at the top -- read “Property of,” and the bottom rocker held “Cain.” His club colors. His name. Cain found himself holding his breath.

Angel looked up at him. “You’re giving me this? When did you do this?”

He shrugged as if it were no big deal. But it was. At least it was to him. “Not long after you started here. I knew I’d give it to you even as I promised myself I wouldn’t.”

“You seriously want me to wear this?” She looked up at him, her eyes wide. Cain’s heart fell. Yeah, the property thing was a bit much for someone not used to the biker lifestyle, but it meant everything in his world. It was the one thing he could do to keep her protected even when he wasn’t with her. That jacket proclaimed her off limits because he was her man. Anyone who knew him -- and he wasn’t exactly the type to hide from other MCs -- would honor his claim either out of respect or fear. Either was fine so long as Angel was safe.

“It’s not as bad as it sounds.” He hated being on the defensive, but this was what she’d driven him to.

“No! It’s not that. I know what it means. I just… are you sure this is what you want? I know it’s a big deal in a club. If it’s just to keep me with you, know that I’m staying as long as we’re an exclusive couple. I don’t do casual sex.”

He laughed. “I’m actually disturbed at how relieved I am you said that.”

“Pardon me for saying, but you don’t seem like a one-woman kind of man. We haven’t really discussed this part. I get that you expect me to be with you alone, but what about you?”

He wrapped his arms around her. It just felt right having her there. Finally he admitted, “I’m not a one-woman kind of man.” When she huffed and punched him, Cain laughed and added, “At least, I wasn’t.” He pulled back to frame her face with his hands. “I am now. There will never be another woman for me. Even if I lose you. Which I absolutely will not do.”

“Then I’ll wear your patch. Wear it proudly.” Her smile was radiant. Lovely as the morning.

“You’re so… beautiful,” he whispered. “My old lady.”

She giggled. “I never thought I’d like the sound of that. When it comes from you, I could get used to it.”
