“I do what I can. This club, these guys, are everything to me. I’m lookin’ at more legitimate ways to make some money, though. I don’t like that everything runnin’ through here is blood money. I want these kids to have a set future.” She nods, with the same smile plastered across her face.

“That’s great, Dragon. The girls are all so sweet. Not like when I was in. They were nasty as a snake back then. I like the guys, too. They all seem really good for this.” She would know. This was her life for so many years.

“They are. They all grew up with shit, but they came out pretty damn good from it. I like to think I picked some good ones.” My mom turns to me, a serious look on her face.

“How bad are things now?” Shrugging, I really don’t want to answer that.

“You know what I mean, Dragon. Are things still as rough as they were back then?” She asks me, interested. I blow out a breath before I answer her.

“Things changed. The game is ruthless now. Back then, I remember dad and the guys were always so laid back about shit. Now it’s a fight to live. We have to fight to survive in this life.”

  Chapter 30

“Food’s ready!” Angel smiles as she comes out of the kitchen to get us. I shove off the couch with my mom right behind me when I hear Haylee.

“Daddy!” Haylee’s voice sends me on a high. Turning my head to the side, I see her running straight toward me. I bend down, scooping her up in my arms.

“What are you doin’ out here? Mom know you came out?” I ask. Haylee nods her head before tightening her arms around my neck. God, I can’t get enough of this!

“Who is she?” Turning around, I look to where Haylee points at my mom.

“She’s um—” Before I can finish I hear Everleigh.

“She’s your grandma.” My heart leaps in my chest. Cocking my head to the side, Ev steps up next to me with Jeremy in her arms. I through my arm around her shoulder, pulling her into my side. Pressing a kiss to the side of her head I whisper in her ear.

“Thank you.” Her smile brightens before my mom steps closer.

“You must be the one that stole his heart. I’m Martha Jacobs. It’s so good to meet you.” She doesn’t take her hand; she doesn’t even attempt to. She pulls Ev into a hug that melts my heart.

“I’m Haylee.” She chimes in animatedly.

My mom pulls away from Everleigh before turning toward Haylee.

“You are? Well, it’s nice to meet you. I’m your grandma, and we have tons to talk about.” Haylee grins from ear to ear. It’s perfect.

“I never had a grandma before. What do they do?” My mom smiles, reaching for her.

Once she has her in her arms, the world feels complete.

  ***

Lunch has been perfect. Haylee and my mom haven’t stopped talking the whole time while we ate.

“My dog’s name is Max. He likes to poop on the floor, and Uncle Devil gets mad.” Everyone at the table laughs and looks over at Devil.

“Yeah, cause I step in that shit.” He doesn’t laugh, and I don’t know why. I’m not sure why he’s so off today.

“Well, I think Max is a lovely dog. Maybe he needs to go outside more” My mom says winking at Haylee, she nods.

“She seems great, Dragon.” Ev leans into my side, whispering in my ear.

“She was. I’m still decidin’ about now,” I admit. It’s true. As happy as I am to have her here and back in my life, there’s still a part that is unsure of it all.

“Everything will be fine. I love you.” Pressing a kiss to my cheek, I smile over at her.

“I love you, too. Come on.” Shoving out my chair, I take Jeremy and pass him off to Ghost.

“We’ll be back.” Dragging Everleigh out of her chair, I pull her down the hall with me.

“What are we doing?” She looks up at me for an answer that she isn’t getting until I get her back into the room.

“Dragon?” I keep my face straight. My dick’s throbbing in my pants. I can’t get her in there fast enough. As soon as I get to the door, I shove her inside, kicking the door closed behind us.

“What is going on?” Spinning around, I slam my mouth down on hers. I can’t wait anymore. She has me so worked up and she barely even touched me.

  ***

“I need to be inside of you.” Kissing my way down her neck, her body quivers in my arms.

“We were eating, Dragon.” She’s slightly breathless, which tells me all I need to know. She’s as horny as I am.

“Yeah, now I’m gonna eat you.” Lifting her in my arms, I carry her toward the bed. My lips continue their journey down her neck, stopping at her shoulder. Dropping her onto the bed, I watch her body bounce as I strip out of my clothes in record time. I need her more than I need air right now. Ev watches every move I make doing little more than making me that much hotter.

“You gonna take that off or watch me?” Nodding to the dress she has on; she smiles that breathtaking smile of hers. She slowly pulls the shoulders down, letting it slide down to her waist. With my dick in my hand, I stroke it slowly while I watch her. Sitting up on her knees, she slowly climbs out of the dress, tossing it to the floor.

“You weren’t wearin’ panties under that?” Nodding to the discarded dress, she shakes her head slowly while chewing her lip. Fuck, I just got that much harder.

Everleigh spreads her legs while still on her knees, and I can’t take anymore. Climbing on the bed quickly, I shove her back. I drop my head between her legs. The smell of her sends shocks through my body. I’ve waited far too long to get inside of my woman.

My tongue slides through the wetness I’ve found. Everleigh arches and yanks at my hair.

I can’t help but chuckle, sucking at her clit. I slide a finger inside of her, loving how her sweet pussy clamps down around it. She’s so wet I slide another one inside.

“Dragon!” Her breathless whines go straight to my dick. The more she moans, the more I need inside of her.

“You’re ruinin’ the moment, darlin’. I want to eat every piece of you, and you’re makin’ it hard,” I tell her. Ev just giggles before jerking at my hair.

I know what she wants, and I’m going to give it to her. My mouth gets back to licking and sucking while she writhes under me. When I feel her yank my hair roughly, I get ready for everything she’s about to unleash.

“Dragon!” Screaming my name, she fills my mouth with her sweetness. I lick and suck it all up. I love tasting her cum in my mouth. I slow my tongue while she tries to control the spasms her body is throwing off, but I can’t take it anymore. Climbing up her body, I hike her leg up around my waist. I slide into her so quickly she doesn’t have time to react. Her hands come to my ass, digging in like she needs me deeper.I give her just that. I thrust deeply, hitting her as deep as I can get.

“Make me fuckin’ cum, Ev.” Her pussy clenches, her nails going in that much deeper.

The way she hugs my body, I just might explode.

A few more rough thrusts and I’m done. I fill her with everything that I have inside me.

  Chapter 31

Thoroughly fucked, I feel sated. My body had relaxed and calmed significantly. Everleigh got dressed before I even moved off the bed.

“You do know they are going to realize what we were doing.” I give her a sly grin. I don’t give a shit what they think.

“I don’t care. I needed that.” Ev tosses my jeans at me before I hear her laugh.

“You are crazy.” Sliding my jeans back on, I climb off the bed and sneak up behind her.

“Only for you.” Biting her neck, she squeals.

“Get your clothes on. I’m going to check on Jeremy.” She turns her head, placing a kiss to my lips before walking off. Shit, she has my dick hard again. Moving to grab my shirt, my phone rings. I pull it out, to see it’s Bear.

“Big Bear. Got time to talk?” I hear him huff on the other end before he answers.

“Yeah, heard you got good and bad news for me.” He doesn
’t sound too happy. Hell, I’m not either after what I learned.

“Somethin’ like that. I’d rather meet in person, but you were on a run.” Bear grunts, I take that as his run didn’t go over too well.

“Heard you’re gettin’ some shit from Streets at a pretty high rate.” I set the phone down, pulling my shirt over my head.

“Yeah. They are really fuckin’ me on that.” So much so, he doesn’t even know it yet.

“Thing is—the product you’re buyin’ is ours. We caught them in some shit, upped the price on them.” I hear Bear cursing in the background. He’s beyond pissed.

“I was wonderin’ where the fuck they were gettin’ such good product. Fuckin’ little bastards.” Chuckling, I grab my boots, pulling them back on.

“We need to put a stop to that shit. You want to run shit; we got you. I know we talked that shit over before.” Grunting into the other end, I wait. I know there’s something else.

“Thing is... We didn’t want to get wrapped up in the shit you’re involved in, Dragon. We got word you were into this cop killin’ shit.” Holy shit! Where the fuck did they hear that from?

“Cop killin’? That ain’t my style, brother.”

“I didn’t think so either, but there is some proof out there from what I heard.” What the fuck kind of proof is there? I haven’t heard shit, and I know for a fact we didn’t leave any fucking evidence lying around.

“Suppose you don’t wanna tell me where that’s comin’ from.”

“Sorry, Dragon. We have enough shit comin’ back from our own runs.” The line goes dead, and my body goes into high alert. None of this makes sense. We made sure to leave no evidence at all. Storming out of the room, I head straight to the kitchen.

“Church, now!” I yell. Turning on my heel, I head back out toward the lobby. The guys filter out there looking at me funny. They aren’t going to like this one bit.

“Talked with Bear. He now knows he’s runnin’ our shit. He don’t want a meet either,” I say with anger. I see the look on their faces; they don’t understand either.

“Seems we’re known for killin’ cops now. He wants no part of it. The problem bein’, we only killed one. And that one isn’t talkin.” Devil grins while shaking his head.

“Sure, the fuck ain’t. I made sure of that.”

“And there lies the problem. He ain’t talkin’ so who the fuck is?” I ask the question. We all share glances, but no one speaks.

We’re all thinking the same thing, but no one will say it.

“We go after Streets first. Those fuckers are fuckin’ up our products. Now the other clubs out there are thinkin’ they have a good fuckin’ product when it’s ours.” That pisses me off. I thought Marcus had learned his lesson, but I guess I was wrong on that level.

“Fuckin’ hell. When are we gettin’ a break from this shit?” Ghost says as he runs his hand over his face pissed, much like the rest of us.

“When we get these fucks taken care of. I’m gonna have a little chat with Wiley.” Roc shakes his head before he talks.

“No way in the fuck, Dragon. That will only draw more fuckin’ unwanted attention that we don’t need.” I know he’s right, but Wiley’s been making good money off us for a long time just to turn around and rat us out.

“He’s up to somethin’, Roc. I want to know what. If I don’t talk, we dig.” Devil nods his head, knowing that shit with Wiley could go bad at any second.

“We dig. I’ll get a few guys on it.” Glancing at Devil, I nod.

“Fine. Get them on it but gear up tonight, we’re goin’ out to visit Streets.”

  ***

“Anything I can do?” Shaking my head, my mom watches us suit up for this shit.

“No. We need to get a handle on shit before it gets too far gone.” Of everyone here, she would understand that.

“You remind me so much of your dad,” she says. My eyes find hers. Tears well up in them.

“He was a good man. I miss the hell outta him.” Her hand comes to my cheek.

“I know he’s proud of what you’ve accomplished, son. Do you mind if I hang around while you’re out? I’d like to spend more time with everyone.” As if that was even a question.

“You’re family. You’re welcome here at any time,” I say. I lean down and press a kiss to her cheek as she smiles.

“Thank you. I want to play with Haylee. She’s a mess.” She’s telling me things I already know.

“She can talk your ear off. I’m sure she’d like havin’ you stay longer.” Nodding her head, she steps back as I finish getting ready.

My mind is in the zone right now. Not much is going to pull me out of it either. This club has been fucked far too many times, and Marcus knows he’s messed up.

He’ll be lucky if he’s even walking by the time I get ahold of him. Feeling a lot like Devil right now, I glance around and find him.

He looks like I feel. He looks like he’s lost in his own head, and that’s never a place you want to be.

I kissed my girl and kids goodbye before I set out on my way. My heart thumps in my chest. Shit with Marcus could quickly get out of hand. We all know the risk we’re running right now. This is what we do, though. This is who we are, and now someone is fucking with that. Our ride to their regular spot doesn’t take long. We climb off the bikes, looking around the area.

“Where the fuck are they?” Devil is the first to speak when we don’t see any sign of them.

“Think they moved?” Devil asks. Glancing at Roc, I shrug.

“Don’t know. Haven’t heard shit since the last shipment. Go look around, call out if you see anything,” I say. We all spread out, looking around the area. If they moved, I damn sure don’t know where they would be. Ghost and I walk around the alley before I spot one of the lower level soldiers on the corner.

“Look.” Nudging him, he whistles loudly letting the others know we found something. The kid turns and sees us when he takes off.

“Goddamn, I’m not in my runnin’ shoes,” Ghost yells as he takes off running after him. I head back toward the other end, hoping to come up and around to cut his ass off. As soon as I get around, though, I see Ghost with his hand around the little fuckers throat.

“Thanks for the help.” He’s breathless, but there’s a smile on his face.

“You're a fast son of a bitch!” The other guys come to meet us.

“Damn, I ain’t never seen you run like that. Not even for pussy.” Devil slaps a hand on his shoulder as we all laugh.

  “Where’s Marcus?”

  Chapter 32

He doesn’t want to answer me. I wonder if he will answer Devil as he cuts his fingers off one by one.

“Let’s take him in the warehouse.” Ghost drags the kid by his neck toward the warehouse while the rest of us watch our asses. Making sure there’s no one else around to witness this shit, we all file into the warehouse. Roc checks the locks while Ghost slams the little fucker into the chair in the middle of the room.

“Feel like talkin’ or is Devil gonna get to have some fun?” I ask him. I don’t remember the kid’s name. I want to say it is Benny, but they fucking look the same to me.

“Fuck you,” The kid growls. Ghost’s fist lands on his jaw, blood splattering out of it.

“Guess that’s my answer.” Devil rolls his sleeves up eager as fuck to make this punk bleed. I find myself fascinated at times by him. The particular way he gets himself ready for what he’s about to do. Like now, rolling his sleeves up as if he isn’t going to be covered in blood by the end of the night.

“I’ve been waitin’ to have a little fun.” Rubbing his hands together, he steps up in front of the kid.

He pulls his knife from the back of his jeans before twirling it in his fingers.

“Why you sellin’ our shit to other clubs?” He leans down in the kid’s face, but he doesn’t say shit.

Devil brings the knife to his cheek, slowly dragging the blade through the kid’s skin.

“Ever heard of death by a thousand cuts?” the kid doesn’t move or say shit.

“Well, let me inform you. None of the cuts are deep. They all barely knick the surface. The thing that hurts, though, is when I throw a little salt on all those wounds. You know with over a thousand, you bleed out. Not as fast as normal. No, it’s slow and long.” I watch him drag the blade, placing another cut.

“By the time I’m done, your mommy won’t even recognize you.” Devil smiles in the kid’s face. He flips the knife within his hand, making a show of it. Slicing through random spots on the kid’s body, I watch.

“See that. Magical,” Devil says. Running his tongue down the blade, Devil licks the blood off it. To some it would make them sick to see but not me, I’m used to this shit with him.

“Why sell our shit, and where the fuck is Marcus?” Ghost steps up next to Devil, asking the questions.

“Fuck you.” Devil’s eyes meet mine, and I know he’s going further. I give him the nod he waits for. The knife plunges into the kid’s shoulder. Screams fill the silent room.

“Look at all that blood!” Devil laughs while the kid screams.

“He told me to sell on the corner like always.” Here we go. Now he’s talking.

“Where the hell is he?” He looks around, unsure if he should answer.Devil plunges the knife into the other shoulder.

“He’s about seven blocks down! We got a new warehouse!” Well, he isn’t being very helpful.

“Where?” Growling in his face, Ghost is getting pissed. I can see it in his eyes.

“On Johnson! Please, just stop!” Devil twists the knife in his shoulder, making him scream louder.

“Why are we known as cop killers?” His eyes widen. Maybe he didn’t hear that part.

“I don’t know, man! I don’t know!” Devil glances over at me. Giving him a nod, he pulls the knife free, sliding it across his throat.Walking toward the door, I’m a little on edge.

Why are they out getting a new warehouse?

  ***

“We move in, guns loaded and ready. I want Marcus alive, though. He has more information than we know about this shit, I want it.” The guys nod as we jump back on our bikes.
